Where Can I Find Them?Originating in China, Cherry Blossoms are now a prominent symbol of Japan. Cherry Blossom trees can also be found in Washington, D.C. and Vancouver, B.C, where they were received as
gifts from Japan.
When Do They Bloom?Cherry Blossoms are unique in that they bloom for only two to four weeks in a year. Depending on how long and how cold the winter has been, they may bloom as early as early March, but they typically
bloom in early April.
What Are They?Sweet gems of springtime
Bound by beauty and short lifeFleeting and precious.
How Are They Enjoyed? The Japanese hold annual ‘Hanami’ (flower viewing) festivals in parks that are heavily populated with Cherry Blossom trees. They gather with friends, family, and coworkers to enjoy snacks and drinks beneath the blooming flowers. Some people spend a great deal of time picking just the right spot for flower viewing, reserving their party’s spot for days in advance.
