An elderly Chinese immigrant’s cultural ignorance gets him in irreversible trouble when he touches a young American boy in a public restroom. Despite his harmless intentions, he struggles with his son and the legal system to make the context of his ’touch’ understood.

Based on a true story, TOUCH deals with the cultural gap between father and son, while it also examines the capacity for sensitivity across major cultural boundaries in the American judicial system.

The Shanghai-born Lin has been preoccupied with acting since 1980, having amassed some 70 commercials, a few dozen movies/TV shows and worked with such luminaries as Robert De Niro, Kathleen Turner, Lou Gossett, Blithe Danner and Tracey Ullman. Among his voice-overs, BIRDNESTERS OF THAILAND was nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar. For his theatrical work he garnered such notices as: “Zhang, played superbly by Ben Lin, a mature actor with dignity and power;” (Pan-Asian Rep’s THE IMPOSTER) “Mr. Lin and Miss McCarthy’s scenes of new love at a mature age are genuinely a�ecting;” (Studio Theatre’s THE WASH) and “Ben Lin’s Canning Woo delivers a profoundly moving monologue” (East West Players’ JOY LUCK CLUB). On YouTube he can be seen in the title role of Onion News’ CHINA’S ANDY ROONEY. For the short film PAPER LOTUS, Lin won best supporting actor in 2014 at the Los Angeles Movie Awards.

Born and raised in Palo Alto, CA, Josh studied both Human Biology and Drama at Stanford University. He has since trained at the Upright Citizens Brigade, the Lee Strasberg Institute, and Beverly Hills Playhouse. He has also appeared in various national commercials,

DAVID JOSHUA CHANGincluding for McDonald’s, Verizon and Princess Cruises. He recurs on the Golden Globe award-nominated HBO comedy SILICON VALLEY, and will be seen in the upcoming second season of HBO’s TRUE DETECTIVE. Josh is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese.

Cici Lau is a SAG member since 1990. Recently, she worked with Andy Samberg in BROOKLYN NINE NINE, Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell in MIKE AND MOLLY and with Billy Crystal in FX's new show, THE COMEDIANS.

MEI FENG CICI LAU

Lulu Wang is a recipient of the Roger and Chaz Ebert Directing Fellowship, which was awarded at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards. She recently wrote and directed her first narrative feature film, POSTHUMOUS, a love story set in Berlin, starring Jack Huston and Brit Marling with Lambert Wilson. Wang was born in Beijing and raised in Miami where she attended New World

School of the Arts as a classically trained concert pianist. She holds a BA from Boston College in Literature and Music. She is also a 2014 Film Independent Project Involve Directing Fellow. Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, Wang is currently developing her second feature.

Reena Dutt is a 2013-2014 Producing Fellow with Film Independent's Project Involve. She most recently finished line producing the feature film, CHEE AND T (partially funded by Visual Communications), and prior to that, AS GOOD AS YOU, featuring Peter Maloney and Annie Potts. Her short film EL DOCTOR was acquired by Latino/PBS. Her short films The FIRST SESSION, SHAMELESS and TOUCH are travelling the festival circuit internationally, UNFINISHED has been seen on the BET network, and her web series SQUAD 85, as well as KISS HER I’M FAMOUS (Season II) are on Justin Lin’s YOMYOMF.com Network and TelloFilms.com respectively.

Originally from Baltimore Maryland, Angel received her BA in Visual Art (Photography & Film) from University of Maryland, Baltimore County. After graduation she worked in television for Discovery Communications before being awarded the Lumiere Scholarship to attend Columbia College Chicago as an MFA candidate in Cinema Directing. Her short films have screened at numerous festivals both domestically and internationally and garnered the attention of Participant Media, a production company committed to social responsibility through film. Her most recent project CHARLOTTE is currently playing in festivals and won the Jury Awards at Atlanta and Sarasota Film Festivals. Williams is a former Film Independent Project Involve Directing Fellow, winner of the Sony Pictures Diversity Fellowship and recently named one of ten Black directors to watch by Paste Magazine.

Ava Berkofsky is a Los Angeles and New York based cinematographer and filmmaker. In the last few years, projects she shot have screened at numerous festivals including Sundance, SXSW, New Directors/New Films, and Telluride; as well as in art venues including the Whitney Museum and the Venice Biennale; and on numerous Networks. Ava has a solid foundation in documentary filmmaking and cinematography, which has been useful in her transition into narrative cinematography. Ava’s recent projects include TURTLE, a narrative short directed by Daniel Kragh-Jacobsen; FLOOD TIDE, a feature length narrative/documentary hybrid; and the documentary project POSTCARDS FROM HERE, which o�ers a visceral portrait of the former Soviet Republic of Armenia and was made in conjunction with feature film HERE (nominated for Independent Spirit Award in Cinematography.), in addition to multiple music videos and commercial spots. Ava was born in the UK and raised in California. She holds an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute.

Adam Kurnitz is a Brooklyn-based film editor. He cut the documentary features THIS IS HOW I ROLL and MISSING PEOPLE as well as the narrative shorts TOUCH and FOREVER ALLY. He also worked on the award-winning documentaries DESERT

RUNNERS and DEATH METAL ANGOLA. Along with A�onso Gonçalves (ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE), he is currently editing a new

feature length documentary by Jim Jarmusch.

Matthew Friedman is a Los Angeles based film editor. Upcoming credits include POSTHUMOUS (starring Brit Marling and Jack Huston) and HOW TO MAKE LOVE LIKE AN ENGLISHMAN (starring Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayak, and Malcolm McDowell). He's edited features in numerous genres, including the children's ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS:THE SQUEAKQUEL, the 3D Dance Movie STEP UP REVOLUTION, the comedy WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS, the web series HUNTING SEASON, and several television pilots, including the series THE LOOP. But he is perhaps best known as the voice of the talking bird in SCARY MOVIE 2.

Yong is a production designer & set decorator based out of Los Angeles, CA. She graduated from AFI and works both in USA and South Korea. Prior to coming to the US she worked as an art director and production designer in the Korean film industry since 2005. Yong was the Art Director on the motion picture, SEVEN DAYS, which won several awards in Korea. Before diving into film, she worked as a fashion editor and set stylist. Since 2010, Yong has been working as a Production Designer and Set Decorator on various film projects in the United States. Also she was the Supervising Art Director for the Chinese box o�ce hit TINY TIMES 3,4.

Based in Los Angeles, Polish born Lucas Lechowski is a composer and violinist who creates music for film and TV and he also performs. His recent film scoring credits include a 2013 Student Academy Award ® winner UN MUNDO PARA RAÚL (dir. Mauro Mueller) and a two hour documentary NBC special hosted by Tom Brokaw WHERE WERE YOU: THE DAY JFK DIED, which aired on the 50th anniversary of the death of President Kennedy. In the field of film music, Lucas is a recipient of several awards and fellowships including Berlinale Talents (2014), ASCAP/ Film Independent's Project Involve (2014), the Sundance Institute Fellowship for Feature Film Scoring at the Skywalker Ranch (2013); The Society of Composers and Lyricists’ Mentorship Program (2013), ASCAP/Columbia University Film Scoring Workshop (2012); and the NYU/ASCAP Television and Film Scoring Workshop (2012).
