• Assure software in certain collections always gets designated applications

• Cleaner task sequences

• Easier to maintain

• It’s cool

Why?

Each variable must start with a common name be numbered 01, 02, 03 … etc....appended to the variable name

The values of these variables are the exact application name and not application deployment types or package IDs

First: Create or select an existing collection and add an array of collection variables

Page 4: System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2 Jodie Gaver Jodie Gaver Working with Configuration Manager since 2010 - Working with Configuration Manager

Second: Create or modify a task sequence and add the task – "Install Application", select "Install Applications according to dynamic variable list" and add the Base Variable Name as ALL (or the base variable of your choice)

TS Side – Base Variable ALL If an application

fails…

Collection Side– Base Variable ALL with sequential

increments

Third: Deploy the task sequence to the collection.

All applications will get deployed in the sequence based on the numbering of the collection variables

Report: Task Sequence – Deployment -> History of a task sequence deployment on a computer

Let’s add a variable/application on an additional collection the computer is a member of and add a step to the TS:

TS Before TS After

This only works for device collections, not users

Only works for applications, not legacy packages

Removes the limitation for # applications that can be installed in a TS step
