Testing and InspectionT James offer a comprehensive range of periodic testing & inspection services for industrial and commercial premises, local authorities, hospitals, schools and residential property. Our testing & inspection team are specialists in this field and T James is regulated by both the NICEIC and the ECA. Key services include:

• Certification for Electrical Installation Works All electrical work carried out by our company will be tested and certified to the current IEE wiring regulations BS7671. An electrical installation certificate will be produced along with Part P registration and certificate for domestic properties. Being recognised by both the NICEIC and the ECA enables us to certificate our own work and issue part P certificates to comply with current legislation. These two important bodies officially assess our installation, inspection and testing work annually and carry out periodic inspections to make sure we are complying with their rigourous standards.

• Electrical Installation Condition Inspection, Test and Report

Regular inspection and testing of the fixed wiring in a property is required by BS7671, a report is produced for the client detailing any recommendations and observations for the continued safe serviceable life of the wiring. Regular inspection and testing is also seen by insurance companies as planned maintenance of the electrical installation and could possibly result in reduced premiums for fire risk.

• PAT testingTesting of all portable appliances is a requirement by insurance companies for all public premises from shops to residential flats and all landlord owned properties. Our PAT testing is

carried out quickly and efficiently with the use of the latest equipment, calibrated to a national standard. We also provide a useful ‘reminder service’ helping our customers comply with legal requirements of annual testing and certification.

• Thermographic surveys Thermographic surveys are a good preventative source of maintenance to main distribution boards and motor driven equipment. This technique highlights any weak links in the wiring, fuse links and motor coils without any disruption to the electricity supply. Our thermal imaging services has saved our customers the terrible outcomes faulty equipment can lead to such as complete shut-down and expensive call out fees. Thermal imaging checks are recognised by many insurance companies and can reduce costly insurance premiums. Our testing & inspection team are fully trained and competent in the use of our state-of-the-art thermal imaging devices and software.

• Emergency lighting annual testingRegular inspection and testing of the emergency lighting is a requirement of BS 5266-1 and should be conducted on an annual basis by an independent contractor and records noted in a log booked which is retained on site by the client. The emergency lighting forms part of the fire escape route and is required to be in good serviceable condition, regular inspection and testing is seen by insurance companies as planned maintenance and could possibly result in reduced premiums for fire risk. Without regular inspection and testing your insurance companies may refuse you cover.

Energy Saving

• Reduce lighting energy costs by up to 80%

• Reduce overheads and increase profits• Reduce C02 emmissions• Gain a quick return on investment• Enhance environmental reputation• Significantly reduce maintenance costs• Improve lighting performance• Create a safer & healthier working

environment• Improve employee working conditions• Improve productivity & efficiency

Recent worksIn most commercial or industrial premises lighting is expensive, often accounting for around 60% of the total electricity costs.

By installing energy saving lighting and controls you can significantly reduce your bills and quickly recoup your initial costs, in many cases within 18 months. After that a typical saving of up to 80% goes straight to your bottom line.

Obviously all this makes good business sense but as an added incentive financial help is also available.

Based on 1990 figures the British Government has pledged to reduce greenhouse gases by 12.5% by the year 2012 with planned reductions extending to at least 60% by 2050. In order to achieve this, various schemes have been initiated to aid businesses in becoming greener. Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECA) and Carbon Trust 0% Interest Loans are government schemes that provide very generous financial assistance to businesses wanting to implement energy efficient lighting projects. We can assist you in understanding how all of these work.
