CHOREOGRAPHYFORCONTEMPORARYTHEATREUnified movement sequences canlook spectacular in theatre, ourbodies have the ability tocommunicate in a way words oftenstruggle to. However, it can bedifficult to know where to start. Inthis session participants will developsimple choreographic techniqueswhich can quickly create highimpact and original movementsequences. OUTREACH
Takeover’s Associate Director, Sinead Campbell has established
outreach projects throughout the York Community with our education
team. Working closely with various youth groups, each group will
devise their own performance piece which will be shown at the York
Theatre Royal. We are passionate about bringing new audiences into
the theatre and making performance opportunities more accessible for
everyone.

After the success of the October leg ofTakeOver we are delighted to returnwith the festival’s most diverse andexciting program yet, featuring work forpeople of all ages and tastes.
More than just a theatre festival this isa two week celebration of liveperformance by both the country’sbrightest new talent and establishedgroups, including stunning classictheatre like Brian Friel’s Dancing atLughnasa and BeltUp Theatre’sadaptation of The Beggar’s Opera aswell as Dance (Verve 2011), andComedy (Fitzrovia Radio Hour,Comedy Night!).
TakeOver is committed to introducingsome of the best new talent in allaspects of performance. This festival isproud to present great local communityprojects and original work like 4:48Psychosis a TakeOver productionfeaturing some of the brightest newtalent.
We are privileged to present some ofthe best work from recent EdinburghFestivals such as Fringe First winningcompanies Rash Dash and Little Bulbwith their shows Another Someoneand Operation Greenfield. This is arare chance to see some of the mostenchanting unique theatre out there, sobe adventurous and try something new!

Enjoy your post-show drinks with some of the bestlocal bands performing after many of our showsalongside secret pre-show performances, there isalways going to be something on during TakeOver.
As always TakeOver continues to host an impressivearray of workshops for all ages and interests,ranging from a master class in script writing to aselection of weekend events for families includingour Nature Day with performance workshops,interactive performance poetry, arts and crafts andmuch more this spring!
