HOW TO REACHGOD?HAQIQATUL-WAHI (THE PHILOSOPHY OF DIVINE REVELATION)

Man is in need of two things in order to reach God: First, abstinencefrom evil; and second, the attainment of good deeds. Merelyeschewing evil is no great feat. Thus, the crux of the matter is thatthese two forces have remained present in human beings ever sincetheir creation: On the one hand carnal passions lure them towardssin, while on the other hand the fire of the love of God that is hiddenin their nature incinerates the straws of sin much like physical fireincinerates the physical straws and dried leaves. But ignition of thisspiritual fire that incinerates sins depends entirely on the cognitionof God, because love and adornment for anything depends onacquiring its complete recognition. You cannot love somethingwhose beauty and excellence you are unaware of. The knowledge ofthe beauty and excellence of the God of Honour and Glory ignitesthe fire of love for Him, which, in turn, consumes sin. It has alwaysbeen the practice of Allah to grant such knowledge to mankindthrough His Prophets. Others get light from their light and acquireall the bounties that are bestowed on the Prophets by followingthem….

HOW TO REACHGOD?HAQIQATUL-WAHI (THE PHILOSOPHY OF DIVINE REVELATION)

It is obvious that human nature expects perfection in everything and, since man has been created for the eternal worship of God, he cannotbe content with some absurd fables concerning God, when hissalvation lies in the recognition of that God. He does not wish to dwellin ignorance, but wants comprehensive knowledge of the perfectattributes of God as if to behold Him. This desire of man can befulfilled only by Islam. Though in case of some, this desire is buriedunder carnal passions. Being veiled so strongly, those who craveworldly pleasures and are infatuated with the world, being utterlyveiled, do not care for God nor seek His communion, because theyworship the idol of materialism. But there is no doubt that one whofrees himself of the idol of materialism and desires eternal and truebliss, cannot be satisfied by a religion that only has fables nor can heget any satisfaction from it. It is only through Islam that such a personcan find his satisfaction. The God of Islam does not shut the door ofHis grace upon anyone. He is inviting everyone with open arms tocome to Him. And the door is opened for those who eagerly runtowards Him with all their strength. (pages 76-78)

ABID KHAN SAHIB’S DIARY “THE MAJESTY OF KHILAFAT”

Another issue had arisen before the start of the tour. When the programme was first drawn up, itwas agreed with the ambassador of an African country, who was officially hosting the event onbehalf of UNESCO, that the event would start with the recitation of the Holy Quran. However, a daybefore the start of the tour, on 24 September 2019, I received a call from Asif Arif sahib that theambassador had now informed that the function could not begin with Tilawat, as it wouldcontravene the secular instincts of the French Republic and UNESCO. He asked me to informHuzoor of this development. Thus, during Mulaqat, I mentioned it to Huzoor, and he expressed hisdisappointment at the decision. Huzoor said that the French Jamaat should still try to persuadethe ambassador and to try to appeal to his heart. Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (aba) “The Majestyof Khilafat” Huzoor said: “Our Jamaat in France should remind the ambassador that he himself is apractising Muslim and so he should not be fearful but, rather, his love for the Holy Quran shouldgive him to courage to make a stand and withstand any pressure he might face on this issue.”After giving this beautiful advice, quite suddenly, Huzoor asked: “Will they try to stop me startingmy address with ‘Bismillah’?” I was taken aback by Huzoor’s question. In response, I said: “Huzoor,no one can ever stop you from saying Bismillah or reciting any portion of the Quran!” I do not thinkI will ever forget what Huzoor said next. Huzoor’s tone of voice and demeanour normally remainsextremely calm. Yet, for a few seconds,Huzoor’s tone of voice and demeanour became muchfirmer. In words that, to this day, continue to ring in my ears, Huzoor said: “If at that time when Istart my address in UNESCO anyone tries to stop me from saying ‘Bismillah’, I will walk out of thehall at that very moment without delivering my speech!” Huzoor continued: “You all mightbecome embarrassed, but I will leave without a second glance!”

ABID KHAN SAHIB’S DIARY “THE MAJESTY OF KHILAFAT”

There are many times when Huzoor says something and I remain quiet or respond in a way which Ilater consider to be inadequate. However, at that moment, I was completely inspired by the wayHuzoor had expressed his unwavering love for the Holy Quran and how he would leave the hallwithout looking back if anyone tried to stop him from starting his address with the words ‘In theName of Allah, the Gracious, Ever Merciful’. Thus, my response to Huzoor were words that willremain my response forevermore. I said: “Huzoor, never for a second will I be embarrassed orhesitate! Rather, I will walk out right behind you feeling nothing but pride!” Hearing my responseHuzoor smiled and I think he appreciated what was my heartfelt response. “The Majesty ofKhilafat” Unfortunately, the recitation of the Holy Quran was not included by the ambassador inthe formal programme but Huzoor began his address with ‘Bismillah’. As he did so, I felt pride andjoy knowing that nothing was going to stop beloved Huzoor from beginning his address byinvoking the name of Allah. (Europe Tour 2019, Part 2)
