Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Special thanks to Mrs Whiteman for attending and organising, and also to Miss Robinson and Miss Tinsey for attending. Camp doesn't happen if our teachers don't give up their personal time, which we truly appreciate.

Well done to our CPPS representatives, who attended the Westlakes Zone Carnival last Monday. Miss Swan has the full wrap-up of results on Page 3.

Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 The Responsible Pet Ownership

Education Program is coming to our school on 23

rd of August.

The Living Safely with Pets Program educates children to understand:

The times when children should leave dogs alone

High risk behaviours that children should avoid

How to recognise the warning signs

When it is safe to approach a dog and how do you do it safely

What to do if they are approached by an unknown or angry dog

Research tells us:

Children aged 0-8 are statistically in the highest risk category for dog attack injuries requiring hospitalisation.

Approximately 75% of children are attacked in the home environment by their own dog or one known to them.

Dog bite injuries to children are predominantly to the head, face and neck.

The forty-minute session is conducted by one of the qualified educators and their suitability tested dog and may help your children to avoid a serious and preventable injury. The program has been well supported with over 850 NSW primary schools participating in the last financial year.

Please speak to your classroom teacher if you have any concerns with your child attending this session.
