VST Plugins:

For the first sound I chose a dog barking to see how I could manipulate it using VST plugins. To edit this sound I clicked on the FX button (marked by the red box) which opened up the window on the right and by clicking on the add button a range of plugins appreaed and I decided to use “battery acid” to see what sort of effect it had. The sound itself didn’t change as you could still tell what it was, to me it just felt that it added more static and grittyness to the barks which isn’t a very nice effect but I was just experimenting with this new technique.

For the second sound I chose a man laughing and used the same proccess of adding the plugin but this time I chose “lost technology” which looks very complicated and when playing the sound on a loop it felt like most of these knobs had no effect on the sound that I could hear but some of them did. I feel that the sound then changed slightly, it was still a man laughing quite clearly but also had a space theme to it or like it was an alien laughing which could be useful in the future.

For the third sound I decided on a machine gun as it was fast and had a lot of portential to be changed into something else with the use of plugins. I added it using the same proccess but added “wow & flutter” instead. After moving the knobs and sliders I was happy with the end result, not too sure what exactly but it could be used for but once again it had a space feel to it and could be used in that sort of game.

Finally I added a cow mooing sound into my reaper project, added the plugin in the same way but chose “reflex free” which didn’t change the sound too much. The only effect this has on the sound is that it gave it a really large echo effect and I’m personally not sure what it could be used for, I just thought that it sounded good which is why I left it like that instead of changing it again.
