The automation of repetitiveoperational sequences coupled withenhanced rig availability due toredundancy of key systems andhighest service and maintenancecomfort increase the efficiency andperformance of the rig and thedrilling operation.Eliminating work in dangerousheights (e.g. no fingerboard, self-erecting systems), providing hands-off or remote controlled operations,installation of anti-collision systemsand the necessity of reduced manpower ensure the highest possiblesafety level.

Transport and set-upEfficient and compact transport units allow a fast and safemoving and rig-up/down operation and a reduction oftransport costs. The self-erecting systems of the mast andthe drill floor together with the compact dimensions of thecomponents reduce enormously the necessary cranecapacity for the rig-up. To accelerate the rig-up operationwith a higher safety level, all heavy duty bolts arehydraulically driven.

Compact, modular transport units with container locks

The compact footprint of the complete unit – compared to conventional rigs of corresponding capacity – reducesthe costs for wellsite preparation and the environmentalimpact.

Hoisting systemThe innovative BAUER Hybrid System combines theadvantages of a cylinder system and winch system. The triple cylinder enables fast installation and extractionof the drill string. The cylinder system also allows a pushingforce. For running casing the powerful main winch is beingused. Both systems can be used independently for bothinstallation of drill pipes and casings and therefore providean important redundancy in the hoisting system.The hybrid system can also been driven simultaneously bywinch and cylinder and is therefore able to activate ahigher hook load capacity.

Pipe handling systemThe automated pipe and casing handling system withexcellent tripping speed increases the efficiency of theoperations and ensures maximum work safety by itshands-off technology – no fingerboard and derrickmannecessary. The pipe handler directly interfaces with thetop drive without the necessary of a mouse hole.

Top driveThe hydraulically operated top drive BAUER TDK 65-500 is based on 40 years of experience in manufacturing rotaryheads for drilling rigs. It is designed to meet advanced performancestandards in terms of high drillingtorque, high make up and breakout torque, rotation speed,reliability and serviceability. The top drive is equipped with an automated pipe screwingcompensation system, link systemand remote and manual IBOP valves.

Driller’s cabinThe driller’s cabin offers a high quality workplace withjoystick control. The driller controls all drilling functionscentrally from the ergonomic and air-conditioned cabin.The in-built instrumentation system for real-time andhistorical drilling data provides clear information to thedriller and tool pusher at any time.

Automatic drilling control systems like constant weight onbit or constant speed control relieve the driller, improvethe drilling performance and reduce the wear and tearcosts (e.g. optimal drill bit operation). The system is alsoequipped with a digital data acquisition and storagesystem.
