AES' Tuljaram Chaturchand College, (Autonomous) affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University, is one of the leading and prestigious colleges in Maharashtra. It is reaccredited with CGPA-3.55 and also A+ graderecipient of the and BEST COLLEGE BEST PRINCIPALawards. Since its inception in 1962, the college has been providing quality education and contributing to the academic, social and cultural growth of the society. Our motto, 'We for the Students' is at the heart of everything we do at the college. We aim to impart knowledge and also inculcate wisdom, compassion and a humanitarian spirit among the students.I am very much delighted that the First issue of Volume III TCC Chronicle of is all set to go to print. Moreover, This issue is special because during this tenure college has achieved many milestones including Autonomous Status, Short Term Programmes, ISO certification, Tree Plantation, Workshops, Campus Drive, Celebration of Foundat ion Day and Kargi l Vi jay Day and appointments on BoS and many more. The present issue is a snapshot of various academic activities and advancements the college has made in the last couple of months i.e. tofrom June 2018 December 2018. I would like to thank Hon. Shri. We are happy to release our of First issue of Volume III TCC Chronicle. This issue consists of the latest updates on the progress of the college from to June 2018December 2018. It's a great pleasure that we have successfully completed two years and each issue of our Chronicle is a milestone that marks our growth, unfolds our imagination and gives life to our thoughts and aspirations. This issue provides snapshots of various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Milind Shah (Wagholikar), Hon. Shri Vikas Shah
(Lengrekar), members of the Governing Council,
Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar, Vice
Principals, Registrar were the guest of honour. On this
occasion, faculty members were felicitated for their
achievements. All the teaching and non teaching staff
attended the function.
Student Induction Programme was organized for the th st entry level students of all faculties on 30 and 31 July
2018. Students were made acquainted with various
courses and co-curricular and extra-curricular
activities run by the college. Principal, Vice Principal,
Registrar, HoD and the Committee Heads addressed
the students.
Two days Orientation programme was organized by the
college for the newly recruited teaching faculties of the
college in the beginning of the academic year. Mrs.
Madhura Keskar, Head, Bodhivriksh Learning
Academy, Pune was the resource person. Participants
were guided on the topics including ethics and
manners of a teacher as well as responsibilities.

thThe 4 International Yoga Day was celebrated by the
college on 21 June 2018. On that occasion, Principal Dr.
Chandrashekhar Murumkar, Vice Principals, Registrar,
teaching and non-teaching staff and students also
participated in the mass Yoga demonstration on the
college ground. Prof. Ramchandra Jagtap, Assistant
Professor demonstrated various asanas of Yoga to the
participants and also guided on the role of Yoga in
human life.
The World Environment Day was celebrated to
encourage awareness and action for the protection of thour environment on 5 June 2015. As per the theme
'Beat Plastic Pollution' staff and students have arranged
the cleanliness drive in the campus. Prof. Vilas Kardile,
PO and the NSS team have initiated the campaign.
College celebrated 72 Independence Day of India on th15 August 2018 with great honour and enthusiasm at
the college ground. Hon. Shri Milind Shah

the national flag in the auspicious presence of Hon.

Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, who was instrumental in
development of libraries in India. Mr. Nilesh Chavan,
Librarian AEMS, Baramati was the chief guest. Prof. D.
V. Munguskar, Head, Mr. Amar Kulkarni, Librarian,
Mr. Dnyaneshwar Linge, Assistant Librarian, faculty
members, staff and students also participated and paid
tribute to Ranganathan.

1) UGC-HRDC & SP Pune University, Pune sponsored
Short Term Faculty Development Programme on “ICT th
as a tool in Higher Education” was organized from 16 nd
July 2018 to 22 July 2018. 38 teachers from various
colleges attended the course.
The topics covered such as Use of Apps, Social media,
Power point presentation, Microsoft Word, MOOCs,
MOODLE, SWAYAM, Google Doc, Google Scholar,
Hacking, Use of ICT in preparation and presentation of
study material, Digital evaluation, E- library, E-
learning, J-gate, Internet security, Impact of ICT etc.
Prof. Sanjay Kale was the coordinator and Prof.
Upendra Chaudhari was the Assistant Coordinator.
Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar V. Murumkar and Dr.
Wajid A. Khan, Head, Department of Food Tech. and
Research attended the first Bio-Entrepreneurship th
Summit-GBS 2018 at Srinagar on 25 July, 2018. The
summit was organized in collaboration with Valiant
Business Media, a London based organization that
works primarily for agribusiness development in
Kashmir. Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar
signed MoU with GAC on the objectives including
developing agro based products for low income group
of Jammu & Kashmir, to train the faculty for
collaborative research and marketing. This MoU is for
5 years.

The Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, Tuljaram
Chaturchand College' National Service Scheme, and
Students' Development Board and Paani Foundation
jointly organized a Special Water Conservation Camp th
at Anjangaon, Tal. Baramati, Pune from 15 May to 22
May 2018. In this camp more than 50 students and
villagers participated enthusiastically and whole
heartedly. The campers worked on CCT, tree plantation
and soak pits etc. Prof. Vilas Kardile, PO, Prof. Vaibhav
Landge, Dr. Chandrakant Kamble and Dr. Bhagwan
Mali and other faculty members also contributed.
Placement Cell and Department of Computer Science
organized the campus drive for M.Sc.-II (Comp. Sci.),
M.Com, and BBA students in the month of October
2018. Various organizations belongs to Pune &
Baramati conducted different rounds including
aptitude test, technical round, HR round etc..
According to requirements of their organizations they
selected students as trainee software developer, Sales
Executive and Marketing Executive. Prof. U.D.

on 'Mind Training for Right Awareness (MITRA) on
28/8/2018. Mr. Mukhedkar was the resource person. A
guest lecture by Prof. R. L. Deopurkar on 'Problem
Solving Approach' was also organized for students.
Microbiology Department started a UGC sponsored
COC Course entitled “Advance Diploma in quality
control techniques in Food, Pharma & Milk Industries”, stfrom 1 August 2018.

Best Message Contest 2018 in collaboration with Tally thEducation Pvt. Ltd. on 5 September 2018 to encourage
students to express their love and gratitude towards

and Prof. M. S. Punj coordinated the contest. Prof.
Prakash Meher, HoD and faculty members conducted
it successfully.

The students of SYBA, Economics and Faculty
Members undertook a tree plantation drive at ndBarhanpur, Baramati on Wednesday 22 August, 2018.
30 students and faculty members planted the trees
such as Shisam (25), Karanj (25), Khair (25), Tamarind
(25), Tor (25) and Jamun (25), which were carefully
chosen because of their long life and contribution in
generating revenue for the village. Principal Dr.
Chandrashekhar Murumkar guided students about the
importance of trees and its conservation. Small pits
were dug and saplings were planted at the hands of
various dignitaries from the village. Dr. Samadhan
Patil, HoD, and faculty members took initiative.

To showcase the latent talent of students, college runs
Asmita Bhittipatrak activity. It provides a platform to
display literature, paintings, cartoons, portraits, and

The Centre for Innovative and Applied Research
organized a one day programme for acquainting
faculties and PG students about various research
grants and the formats of research proposals on 11th
December 2018, Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar
Murumkar and Dr. H. S. Pawar, Director, CIAR were the
resource persons.
Campaign for Awareness in Research and Development (CARD)
The state level Kavivarya Moropant Intercollegiate thElocution and Debate Competition was organized on 5
thand 6 October 2018. It was inaugurated by President of
Baramati Municipal Council Hon. Mrs. Poornima
Taware. The Secretary of Anekant Education Society
Hon. Shri. Jawahar Shah (Wagholikar) presided over
the function.
In total 99 students from different parts of Maharashtra
participated in the competition. The Prize distribution
ceremony of this competition was conducted on
Saturday, 06th October, 2018 at 5.30 p.m. at Jivraj
Auditorium. Hon. Dr. Prakash Pawar, Head, Political
Science Department, Shivaji University Kolhapur was
the chief guest. Hon. Shri. Vikas Shah (Lengarekar),
Member, Anekant Education Society was the president
for the event.

Continual Management Services, Consultant Quality Management system committee visited the college on
th7 December 2018 and the college registered to ISO-9001:2015 and Green Audit. This will provide a foundation of success and trust and also several marketing opportunities. This certification will continually provide the value added surveillance assessment and training services. Mr. R. M. Jain, Lead Auditor for QMS and Green Audit and his team visited various departments of the college and submitted their report. Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar, Dr. Avinash Jagtap, IQAC Chairman, Vice Principals, Faculties and Registrar Mr. Abhinandan Shah planned the visit.
ISO-9001:2015 Registration and Green Audit
Department of Physics organized the three days workshop on Design and Fabrication of PCB for
thElectronic circuits from 20 December to 23th December 2018. The aim of workshop was to acquaint students about designing and manufacturing a printed circuit board (PCB) by using open source “Proteus-8 professional” design software and various active and passive components such as Diodes, Resistors, Capacitors, ICs etc. It was organized in collaboration with PCB expert Mr. Ganesh S. Sutar (Department of Electronics, ASC College, Indapur). Total 33 students (T.Y. B.Sc.) participated. Dr. S. B. Kulkarni was the Coordinator. Dr. Maruti Kokare, HoD, and faculty members also present on that occasion.

MHRDC of SPPU jointly organized a Short Term
Course for Biological science teachers at National level
on “Mathematics for Biological Science” from 3rd th
December 2018 to 9 December 2018. Total 37
participants attended this Programme. Speakers were
from the recognized institutes like IIT -Mumbai,
BARC-Mumbai, SPPU-Pune etc. This Programme

The college organized a campaign to spread the word about the importance of voting and the right to vote on
th16 October 2018 under the Students Development Board, National Service Scheme (NSS) and the department of Political Science to create the awareness about the right to vote among the youngsters. The awareness drive was successfully conducted under the guidance of Hon. Hanumant Patil, Tehsildar, Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar, Vice Principals, Registrar, Prof. Sanjay Kale (SDO), Prof. Vilas Kardile, (NSS PO) and Dr. Hanumant Phatak (HoD, Department of Political Science).

College Administration and quality Enhancement for
the administrative staff of the college. Dr. Rajendra
Kumbhar, Principal, Jaysingpur College, Jaysing, st
Kolhapur was the chief guest on 21 December 2018.

BBA Department has organized a one day workshop on
“Eco Friendly alternatives for Plastic Bag- Paper Bag thMaking” on 15 Dec.2018. The workshop conducted by

trainer Mrs. Komal Parekh. 65 students participated in

, Dr.Vijaykumar Shinde Head, Department of
Psychology, delivered a lecture on the occasion of thWorld Mental Health Day on 10 October, 2018 at
District Magistrate Court, Baramati. The lecture was
attended by more than 50 lawyers and 19 Judges.
Dr. Pradeep R. Sarvade, Head, Department of
Hindi, delivered a lecture in the workshop on "Vidnyan
Aur Hindi" at ICAR - National Institute of a biotic Stress th
Management, Malegaon, Baramati on 25 June, 2018.
Dr. Milind Gajbhiye, Assistant Professor of
Microbiology delivered a talk at MES High school,
Baramati on Current Development in Sciences.
Like every year, this year also the college organized th thYouth Festival from 27 December to 29 December
2018 for students to showcase their hitherto talent. We
believe on the power and potentials of the youth. To
channelize the energy of youth college organized the
Youth Festival to take over Arts in all its forms. The
festival was a grand blend of various events related to
arts, theatre, music and Indian culture and tradition.

know the psychotherapies applicable for specific
disorders. There were 33 students and 2 teachers
participated in this study visit.

A) Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar V. Murumkar and Dr.
Wajid A. Khan participated as resource persons in the
First India-Greater Mekong Sub region International
Conference, 2018 at Father Agnel College of Arts & th th
Commerce, Goa, India dated 15 -17 September 2018.
B) Foreign Visits:
Vice Principal and Vice Principal Dr. Shivaji Sathe Dr.
Avinash Jagtap Dr. Ashok Kalange and visited Asian
Institute of Technology, Phatumthani, Bangkok, th thThailand between 23 November 2018 to 24
November 2018. They participated and presented
papers in the international conference organized by
ICRMR, India.
C) Appointments on the Academic Bodies of the
University
1) Dr. Shivaji Sathe, Vice Principal and Head,
Department of Microbiology is appointed on Faculty
and has been elected as a member of the Board of
Studies in the Microbiology subject of the Savitribai
Phule Pune University, Pune in the year 2017-2018.
2) Dr. Avinash Jagtap, Vice Principal and HoD,
Department of Statistics is appointed on faculty and
has been nominated as a member of the Board of
Studies in Statistics by the Savitribai Phule Pune
University, Pune and has been invited as a guiding
member in an autonomous college-SSVSS 's
Vivekanand College, Kolhapur from 2017-2018.

Hindi by the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune

member in the subject of “Yoga Education and Sport
Culture” at the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune
from 2017-2018.
D) Ph.D. Degree Awarded:
Dr. Yogini R Mulay has been awarded Ph. D. th
degree in Microbiology by SPPU, Pune on 20 June
2018. The title of thesis was “Bioconjugation of
enzymes and nanoparticles with special reference to
amylase from indigenous strains of Aureobasibium
pullulans” under the guidance of Dr. R. L. Deopurkar,
SPPU.
Dr. Niranjan Shah has been awarded Ph. D.
degree in Commerce by the SPPU, Pune on the topic
“Developing Consumer Satisfaction Index of Mobile
Services Offered by Private Service Providers in India- thA Study” on 18 June 2018 under the guidance of Dr.
Govind Dumbre.
Dr. Maruti Kokare, HoD, has been awarded Ph. th
D. degree in Physics by the SPPU, Pune on 29 October
2018.
E) Appointed as Head of the Departments
Dr. Ravindrakumar G. Kudale has been
appointed as Head of the Department of Zoology from
the academic year 2017-2018.
Dr. Samadhan K. Patil has been appointed as
Head of the Department of Economics from the
academic year 2017-2018.
Dr. Hanumant V. Phatak has been appointed as
Head of the Department of Political Science from the
academic year 2017-2018.
