Travis Country West Homeowner's Association Newsletter August - 2008 Travis Country West TCW NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS Official Publication of Travis Country West Community Volume 3, Number 8 www.traviscountrywest.org August 2008 TCW NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS From Your TCW Neighbor’s Kitchen Avocado Omelet From the Social Committee On the morning of July 4th, TCW had it’s annual 4th of July parade. We had a great turn out with some wonderfully decorated strollers, wagons, bikes, scooters, dogs and kids :-) Thanks to everyone who came out and for all the neighbors that sat on their lawns and “cheered on” the parade :-) Sunscreen Concern On Friday, July 4th, the ABC News show 20/20, aired a story called, “How well does your sunscreen work?” The segment was very informative and included information regarding what ingredients consumers should look for in a sunscreen. The segment can be viewed at the following website: http://abcnews.go.com/search?searchtext =sunscreen&type= This story inspired me to further research the topic of sunscreen safety at the Environmental Working Group’s SKIN DEEP cosmetic safety database http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/ The website also has a list of the top 10 sunscreens and information on what to look for in a sunscreen: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/special/sunscreens2008/ewg_ sunscreen.pdf Article submitted by TCW Neighbor Ingredients 5 eggs 2 tablespoons milk 2 tablespoons butter 1 large Avocado coarsely mashed 1 large Tomato finely chopped 1 can (2.25 oz) sliced Black Olives drained 1/3 cup cheddar cheese, grated Directions 1. With a fork, lightly combine eggs and milk in a medium bowl. 2. Place 8-inch nonstick skillet on medium- high heat, and swirl in 1 Tb butter. 3. After the butter sizzles, pour in egg mixture. 4. When eggs are set but still moist, fold in avocado, tomato and black olives. 5. Remove from heat. Sprinkle with cheese; let stand 1 minute, serve. Unclogging a Drain the Natural Way Are you tired of using chemicals to unclog your sink or shower drain? We have tried just about everything to unclog our sinks and shower drains. We decided to do some research at Lowe’s the other day and found the Cobra Zip-It Drain Cleaning Tool. This environmentally safe tool is rather easy to use and was able to unclog the sink.
