Parent/s or caregivers are required – by law – to provide a written or verbal explanation to the Principal within seven days of any absence as to why their child was not at school. It is important that the school receives a written or verbal explanation because:

1. It is a parent’s legal obligation to explain their child’s absence within seven days

2. It is a requirement that the school investigate all unexplained absences

3. It avoids the school and the School Attendance Officer from making unnecessary investigations

4. It is the way the school knows that your child was legitimately absent and not truanting form school If you have any difficulties in providing a written explanation of your child’s absence, please contact your school principal.

Thank you for a great year of School Banking.

We would like to thank all of our students who have participated in the CommBank School Banking program this year. Our final School Banking day for 2017 will be 28/11/2017. If your child is eligible to order a reward item please ensure that the reward coupon is completed and returned by 28/11/2017. Any tokens that have not been redeemed this year can be used in 2018. Please note that Year 6 students need to redeem their tokens now as they do not carry over into High School.

Christmas Giving Box

Every year Mrs Sue Douglas and a band of generous people give up their Christmas to cook and serve Christmas dinner to members of our community that don’t have any family or friends to celebrate Christmas Day with.

As part of our community involvement, we have set up a donation box for small gifts in the school foyer, to assist with this Christmas Day function. Tea Gardens school has been supporting this cause for the past four years. Donations of biscuits, soaps, face washers, lotions, socks, chocolates etc. (most people who attend this function are seniors) can be left in this box in the foyer up until the last day of school. We would really appreciate your assistance and support of this cause.

Thank you, Debbie Booth and Lindy Hammond
