DEMOGRAPHICS (2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR)

My best interning experience was DEFINITELY during the fourth quarter. During the third quarter I was a wallflower in the 3rd grade classroom I was assigned, but I did, fortunately, get to do one lesson which is reflected on the following slide…

Objective: At the end of the lesson each student should know that appearance, nationality, or background do not matter, because everyone has similarities.

Key Vocabulary/Concepts: heritage and ancestors. Materials: “We All Have a Heritage” book, and the

children’s Writing Notebooks. Instructional Activities: As we read the book we had a

classroom discussion on the contents of each page, (pictures, message, etc.)

Closure Activity: The children wrote a paragraph about the cross-cultural similarities.

Assessment: Their ability to discuss the similarities and put their words into writing.

YOGA TIME!

When children are having temper tantrums, its best to separate them from the rest of the class.

“Tough Love” is an essential part of teaching Children that whine just want attention so ignoring the

behavior will decrease the likelihood of it happening again, or will make it happen less frequently.

Sometimes things are not going to work the way you want them to, or the way you plan, so you have to have back-up.

LAUGH! Laughing with the students or incorporating humor into lessons creates a fun but serious atmosphere in the classroom and makes kids respond better to what is being taught.

MY GIFT

" Teacher- Student: is a symbiotic relationship in which the teacher must always be willing to learn and the student must always be willing to share."
