Ms. Bartlett has been working at CMSA for 7 years. She began working as a special education teacher and is currently the Case Manager and Special Education Department Chair. She graduated from Illinois State University with her bachelors degree and is working towards her Masters in Educational Leadership at Northeastern Illinois University. Ms. Peagler has been working at CMSA for 6 years as the School Counselor. She graduated from University of Illinois Champaign with a Bachelors in Psychology and then continued to receive her Masters in Social work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Last year she obtained her certification as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has a passion for helping those who are seeking improvements and want to make positive growth in the form of accomplishing goals. Mrs. Belmonte-Mann joined the CMSA team two years ago as the school Nurse coming from CPS. Her experience speaks for itself, as she hss been working as a school nurse and/or administrator for over 30 years. She has also worked at the UIC College of Nursing to develop the school nurse certification curriculum and had published nursing articles in the School Nurse Journal. Not only is she passionate about helping the students, but she is also passionate about teaching Nursing to current and aspiring Nurses through ISBE. Mrs. Johnson-Beckman joined the CMSA team 4 years ago working as the School Social Worker. She attanded the University of Wisconsin for her Bachelors and graduated

Teacher Spotlight:Special Ed Support Staff

Dr. Stone joined CMSA as the schoolPsychologist 4 years ago. She has aDoctorate degree from Loyola University inCounseling and Educational Psychology. Shehas been working in the educational field forover 40 years. During this time, Dr. Stone hasbeen a teacher, school psychologist and anadministrator. She has a passion for workingwith students to determine services, but alsoteaching thinking and problem solving skills.She has worked with teachers regardingorganization and discipline and enjoysworking at CMSA because of the studentsand staff.We are very to have this great team

at CMSA!

Roshaan Siddiqui Wins Coveted Dean's List Award

We are proud to announce that Roshaan Siddiqui, a founding member of our robotics team, "TheRobotitans Team #7006," has received the honor of winning the 2017 FTC Dean's List Award. Theprestigious award was created by FIRST®Robotics founder and inventor Dean Kamen. Roshaanis one of only six students in the United States to receive this honor. The award was presented at therecent Robotics World Championship in St. Louis. "Receiving the FTC Dean's list award has been arewarding experience. This award will show the colleges I apply to, and my future employers, just howpassionate I am about engineering,' states Roshaan Siddiqui. At the festival, Ms.Kemi represented the United States.Participation in this event is by invitation only.Kemi shared her love for humanity throughsinging both in the English and Turkishlanguage.

9th Graders Enjoy Professional Theatre

Ms. Hovey's 9th grade class went to see"Shakespeare in Love" at Navy Pier on May9th. For many students, this was their firstprofessional performance. In addition to theshow, the students also enjoyed free time toexplore the Pier.

CMSA Ranks as Level 1+

Drama Club's "Da Switchup" Rocks the House!

Students in the Drama Club wrote, produced, and acted in their own play called "Da Switch Up." In the play, a nerdy and power-hungry student writes a phone app to switchminds with his teacher so he can control the class. When the app inadvertently switches theteacher with the class delinquent, confusion and hilarity ensue as they try to play new roles, covertheir tracks, and find a way to switch back to their rightful bodies. Students performed twice atCMSA and also at the local McCaw Theater, the home of Theatre Above the Law. Congratulations

to Abioye Hassan, Justin Baynes, Brandon Black, Brenda Gomez, Adriana Medina, Lazeria Mitchell,Kevin Roja, Ramiro Roman, Yuri Torres and Mariana Villasenor on their terrific acting debut. Kudosto their tech crew, Raphael Chora, Dayo Hunley and Brian Gonzalez, who helped make it all possible.

Juniors Receive "Ronald Reagan Student LeadershipAward"

Since 2013, the Ronald Reagan Student Leadership Program has been cultivating high schoolstudents, developing them into actively engaged citizens in their communities. Three main tenets ofleadership drive the Ronald Reagan Student Leadership Program: Communication, Optimism, andInformed Decision Making. Lessons have been crafted by the Reagan Foundation's team of credentialededucators with one goal in mind- to have each student increase their leadership abilities and grow theirpersonal characteristics in these three main tenets. Our congratulations to Abenazer Meleke, SabahIbrahim, Shagufta Khatoon (not pictured here), and Roshaan Siddiqui on this significant recognition.

Y2Y Mentorship Group Enjoys Dialogue with Youth Officers

Members of CMSA's "Youth 2 Youth" Peer Mentoring program had the opportunity to speak at length withour 024th District Youth Officers P.O. Milton and P.O. Brooke. The officers engaged students in a discussionabout their experiences with the police department and offered ideas as to how to develop better
