Early Perceptions• Reading books onto tapes is a

great way for students to take a break from traditional reading.

• Here is a few of the books that were Recorded on tape.

Introduction to the setting.

• The school that we took the books to was Belleview Elementary School. The children were very excited to receive their recorded books.

Demographics

A little bit about me.• I am a full time student at UCF. • I work full time and then some as

a waitress.• I am a full time mother of a two

year old little girl and a five year old little boy.

Engagement Activities• I recorded books on to tapes for

special education students to listen to.

• I spent 20 hours reading the books aloud onto the tape recorder.

• This was a great experience, I went back after I recorded the books to make sure that my voice was clear and had a good tone to it before I continued to the next book. I want the children to be able to listen to the books easily and hassle free.

My connections.• Katelyn Wiggins and I decided to do this

project. Her mom is a teacher at the school.

• Katelyn was the one who picked up the books and we divided them up to do this project. We each read about 20 hours worth of books onto tapes.

• I went through a lot of tapes.

Participant demographics.

• Look how happy these children are to receive the books we recorded.

Serve ability of books on tape.

• The books that we recorded will be able to serve hopefully hundreds of kids over the next few years. The teacher is able to save the tapes and use them over and over until they get ruined or destroyed. This is one key component, the ability to reuse.

Reflection• I got the pleasure of seeing how

children enjoyed receiving our gift to them.

• This will really make a difference in the lives of these students.

• Students get more into books that are on tape than the ones they have to read on their own.

• The children touched my heart. • I will make sure that when I get into

my own classroom I have a variety of book for my students to read.

• I will also have a classroom set for students who want to listen to stories.

• This is also a great idea to use with your ELL or ESOL students. The students would be able to follow along and hear how words are pronounced in the English language

• It absolutely melts my hear to see the joy that this will bring to these students lives and upcoming students.
