NEW TEACHER INDUCTION
MODEL2014-2015
2014-2015 Induction Model• Continue to provide 60-90 minutes of
support to 1st year teachers in a one-to-one setting weekly.
• Provide 30-60 minutes of support to 2nd year teachers in a one-to-one or small group (maximum of 3) setting weekly. Differentiation of time and group size is dependent upon the needs to the 2nd year teacher.
Hiring Additional Mentor Teachers
• We will be hiring 5 additional Mentor Teachers
• Informational Meeting: April 22nd from 4:00-5:00pm at Dean Ave.
• Interviews: Early May
Additional Considerations
• Two Mentor Teachers will be assigned to our Continuous and Extended Calendar Schools
• Mentor-Teacher Assignments will be made in early September (for traditional calendar schools) to limit mid-course changes
• Results from the NTC Program Evaluation Survey (taken by teachers, mentors, coaches, principals and
district program leaders) will inform additional program modifications and enhancement

Each piece is taken directly from the “Creating Interactive Elementary Classrooms” information provided at last month’s T&L.
Math & Technology AdoptionProviding teachers with better tools and professional development will increase their ability to deliver the appropriate instruction the student needs in a setting and manner the student is most comfortable with. These better tools will provide teachers with more time to meet individual needs of students and specifically design instruction to meet those needs.
Math & Technology Adoption
The informative data that will be collected from these better tools will provide our teachers with real-time data to enhance the students' learning opportunities. Via this implementation, and the ensuing progressive steps committed to by our district, exiting students will possess the knowledge, skills, and ability for future success in the next stage of their life.

Time: This is currently taking place within our district. Students are accessing all sorts of information outside of school hours.
Place: This also currently takes place. Students are accessing information consistently while outside of the physical school building.

Path: With the adoption of the new math materials students will now have additional access to resources that best fit their needs.
Pace: With the adoption of the new math materials, we will be better equipped to serve students at their pace as quickly as they are ready to proceed.

Many times blended learning is not a single form of these options. They are typically implemented within one another to meet the needs of the students in a given classroom.
We will be focusing on the Rotation Model with the adoption of our Go Math resources.
Rotation Model
A rotational model in which students rotate between learning modalities.
Modalities may include small group or full class instruction, group projects, individual tutoring, pencil and paper assignments. But it must also include a rotation of online learning.

TECHNOLOGY PURCHASE UPDATE
April 15th Board Meeting
Item to purchase interactive projectors for each elementary general education classroom in the district.
Purchasing and ordering will take place immediately after approval.

We are working on the details for distribution of the software to teacher machines in the most efficient and effective manner.
Staging of buildings for installation
• When looking at the hardware portion of the installation, there are three distinct areas of need.–Wiring (Data & Electric)–Whiteboard–Projector Installation

Realities of the installationThe current goal being discussed is to have 70% of all elementary buildings
completed by the start of the traditional school 2014-2015 calendar.
Keeping that in mind, there will be hiccups and bumps along the way.

School Check-In (Part 1)
• The Manipulative Kits, Differentiated Centers & Bilingual Math Boards will need to be checked-in by an instructional coach or designated school representative.
• Check-In will Include:–Ensuring the total number of items ordered for your building were received.–Ensuring the correct items are contained in each kit using the classroom check-in sheet.–Communicating any discrepancies to Melissa Read ([email protected]) in purchasing by June 15th. (**any discrepancies that are reported after June 15th will be charged to the school)

• They will ensure that:–all ordered materials have arrived–materials are scanned into the Destiny
system (Teacher Editions only)–materials are scanned out to the
assigned teacher (Teacher Editions only)
Part 2: Check-In• You will receive a schedule of
delivery as soon as we have confirmation of shipment from HMH (late June).
• You will receive notification with the exact date and time from Central Stores when your materials are ready for delivery.
Part 2: Check-InSchool Responsibilities:– Ensure principal or designated school representative is on-
site to provide teacher names and confirm check-in (*you will need to provide the check-in sheets with teacher names that you are receiving today)
– Ensure school engineer or designated school representative is available for transportation of materials to classrooms
–Upon teachers return from summer, confirm the receipt of all materials and communicate any discrepancies to Melissa Read by September 26th.

End-of-Year Literacy Assessments for Grades 1-5:• Use IFAS to complete the order.• Order only the count for your current enrollment at
