livingston, montana. 110 West MainThe client asked our studio to bring an edge to Historic Livingston, Montana. The up-per level of this historic downtown building has been designed as an extremely con-temporary cooperative office as well as a complete renovation_adaptation the Main store front and lower level bar. Exposed interior brick walls become the backdrop for a series of insertions, the primary of which is an intricately detailed faceted, undulat-ing wall made of CNC steel ribs with walnut veneer plywood panels. The July 2007 issue of Residential Architect notes, “...the dynamic, faceted walls inside this on-the-boards commercial project...showcases the firm’s sculptural approach to space.”

wapiti valley, wyoming. Wapiti Valley ResidenceThe house and complex is located in the rugged and beautifully austere Wapiti Valley in Wyoming. The design of this house is a direct reflection of the clients aggressive artistic preferences, while also intentionally blending the native, rocky landscape by working with colors, shadow, shapes and textures to create a forum of camouflage. Two rammed earth walls become the base out of which the house is grounded; steel, glass, parklex, massaranduba, and bonderized metal and walls layer and collage to embed the house in the open landscape.

livingston, montana. RN ResidenceThe RN Residence is located in the rolling hills west of Livingston, Montana with unbelievable views of the Absoraka Mountain Range and distant views of the Crazy Mountains and East Boulder Valley. The home is an exploration of sus-tainable design and building practices with grey water reuse, rainwater collec-tion, passive and active solar systems, and select sustainable materials. The program for the residence was conceived as a series of alternating private and public spaces. The private spaces are designed with varying degrees of enclo-sure, materiality and height. Each private space’s walls “wrap” from the exterior too the interior maintaining the exterior skin throughout. The in-between was designed as either a threshold condition or public space, all the while taking ad-vantage of the views to the south and south east . The form of the roof relates to the adjacent ridge line mountain tops.
