STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE

Dear Parents and Carers,

Tell Them From Me Survey Thank you to all of our wonderful families who took the time to fill in the Tell Them From Me Survey. We value your contributions and comments. For all the parents and carers who took part in filling out the survey we put your names into a draw, and the lucky winner is Mrs Watson.

Kindergarten Orientation Kindergarten Orientation begins next Tuesday the 3rd of November, from 9.00am to 11.00am. This will be the first of 4 orientation visits for our new students. The following orientation days are Tuesday 10th November, Tuesday 17th November and Tuesday 24th November. Information about these days has gone home to families. If you need any further information please contact the school office on 4736 2408.

Student Awards We once again recognised our student’s achievement for learning, behaviour and also our Writer of the Month Awards winners. These were given out to the students in their classrooms due to the restrictions currently in place. Congratu-lations to our students for their efforts. Their photos are in this newsletter.

New Basketball Court

Last week Mr Stuart Ayers, Member for Penrith and Mrs Kay Rigas School Leadership Director for Penrith came to Kingswood South Public School to view the completed Basketball Court that was sourced and funded through State funding by Mr Ayers. They met with our Student Leaders and House Captains who showed them how we are utilising our new court. We would like to thank Mrs Rigas and Mr Ayers for their continued support of our school.

Dental program NSW is pleased to offer the students at Kingswood South Public School a free school based dental check-up. Parents/Carers will receive an information pack and student consent forms. Please read the information and return your child’s consent forms to the school. There is no cost for the dental check up. All staff will be using Covid Safe guide-lines when interacting with students. The program will take place in Week 7 starting on Monday 23rd November, 2020 and running through to Friday 27th November, 2020. Dental Forms will go home early next week.

Stage 1 and Stage 2 Excursion Next week we have two school excursions taking place. On the 3rd November our Stage 2 students will be travelling to the Maritime Museum and on Thursday 5th November, our Stage 1 students will be attending the Sydney Zoo. Please make sure all students have a drink bottle of water and a packed lunch to take with them.

Aboriginal Students Enrolling in Year 7 2021 KARI Foundation are excited to launch the 2020/21 Transition to High School Backpack Program. We have committed one free backpack to eligible Aboriginal students enter-ing Year 7 in 2021, to assist families and students make the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 successfully. To be eligible, students need to be enrolling in a Public Education High School in the Western Sydney Operational Directorate, in the following Principal networks;

· Eastern Creek · Mount Druitt · Cambridge Park · Penrith

Celebrate Reading in November

November 12 2020 is a day all Australians are invited to share and celebrate the wonder of reading.

Stop what you are doing for an hour and relax with a book or two. Read to the children in your life (or yourself) and find the joy that only a book can bring!

Online Enrolment

We are excited to announce we will be are rolling out the new Online Enrolment

System from Monday, 26 October 2020

The Online Enrolment System is designed to provide flexibility for our parents to

submit an enrolment application online and at the time that best suits you. The

application can be accessed on all browsers and mobile devices including iOS

and Android.

The online application process is currently restricted to:

• Enrolments into local schools only

• Children who are Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or permanent residents,

Children who live in NSW. We offer our support and encourage you to complete your application to enrol online. If, however, you do not feel comfortable completing an application online, a paper copy will be available for collection from the front office or can be downloaded from the Department’s going to a public school site. Further information about online enrolment can be found on our website:

P&C NEWS

Please remember to reach out if you need to, we are here to support where we can and help each other through the difficult days and months ahead, you are not alone. At the moment we do not have a date for when School Banking will re-commence. We will advise once this information is available. The Uniform shop is closed until further notice, however orders can be placed over the phone at school and payment can be made over the phone with EFTPOS or online to the P & C Account, (bank details on bottom of order form). Orders will be processed and uniforms given to students or arrangements can be made to pick up. An order form is included in this newsletter. At this stage our next meeting is Wednesday 4th November 2020 at 7pm in the school library. Please come along and have your say and find out what is going on. We have some exciting news – we will be having a Christmas Raffle! We would like to ask for donations of non-perishable items for the Christmas Raffle e.g toys. Any donations are to be taken to the office, thankyou, we appreciate this is a difficult time for families. Without the support of you the parents and carers we would not be able to give as much back to the school as we do. P&C Committee
