dilated circulatory vessels; the sweat glands are pouring liquid-including essential dissolved chemicals, like sodium and chloride onto the surface of the skin.

How Heat Affects The Body

Heat Exhaustion •dehydration causes blood volume to decrease. •The body’s s response to excessive loss of water and salt. •Usually through excessive sweating.• Workers most prone to heat exhaustion are the elderly, employees with high blood pressure and those working in hot environments

.Heat Cramps

Heat cramps usually affect workers who sweat a lot during strenuous activity. This sweating depletes the body's salt and moisture levels. Low salt levels in muscles causes painful cramps. Heat cramps may also be a symptom of heat exhaustion.

The Concept of Extreme Cold

Extreme Cold conditions typically accompany Winter Storm events, . In the South, near freezing temperatures are considered extreme cold. Freezing temperatures can cause severe damage to citrus fruit crops and other vegetation. Pipes may freeze and burst in homes that are poorly insulated or without heat. In the North, extreme cold means temperatures well below zero.
