1 ADONAI spoke with Moshe after the death of Aharon's two sons, when they tried to sacrifice before ADONAI and died; 2 ADONAI said to Moshe, "Tell your brother Aharon not to come at just any time into the Holy Place beyond the curtain, in front of the ark-cover which is on the ark, so that he will not die; because I appear in the cloud over the ark-cover.

Lev 16: 1-10

Page 44: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

3 "Here is how Aharon is to enter the Holy Place: with a young bull as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering. 4 He is to put on the holy linen tunic, have the linen shorts next to his bare flesh, have the linen sash wrapped around him, and be wearing the linen turban -they are the holy garments. He is to bathe his body in water and put them on.

Lev 16: 1-10

Page 45: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

5 "He is to take from the community of the people of Isra'el two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering. 6 Aharon is to present the bull for the sin offering which is for himself and make atonement for himself and his household.

Lev 16: 1-10

Page 46: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

7 He is to take the two goats and place them before ADONAI at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 8 Then Aharon is to cast lots for the two goats, one lot for ADONAI and the other for 'Az'azel.

Lev 16: 1-10

Page 47: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

9 Aharon is to present the goat whose lot fell to ADONAI and offer it as a sin offering. 10 But the goat whose lot fell to 'Az'azel is to be presented alive to ADONAI to be used for making atonement over it by sending it away into the desert for 'Az'azel. END (Baruch HaShem)

Lev 16: 1-10

Page 48: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Verse 1 says… 1 ADONAI spoke with Moshe after the death of Aharon's two sons, when they tried to sacrifice before ADONAI and diedThis is in reference to when Jesus killed two of Aaron’s (Jesus’ High Priest) sons.

Rebbe’s Parsha

Page 49: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

A few chapters before this passage (chpt 10) it tells about Jesus burning those two sons alive. Their flesh was melting off their skin and they screamed in absolute horror, that’s what happens when Jesus burns you alive. They didn’t feel G-d’s Laws were all that important, it’s all in how you feel.

Rebbe’s Parsha

Page 50: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

I’m sure they told their friends they felt “led by the Spirit” to change the incense, that’s what they did they changed the way the incense was being done, and I’m sure they felt “led to” do that and Jesus killed them.

Rebbe’s Parsha

Page 51: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Did Jesus not kill them? Or was that some other god? 1 But Nadav and Avihu, sons of Aharon, each took his censer, put fire in it, laid incense on it, and offered unauthorized fire before Jesus, something he had not ordered them to do. 2 At this, fire came forth from the presence of Jesus and consumed them, so that they died in the presence of Jesus.

Rebbe’s Parsha

Page 52: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

1 Shout out loud! Don't hold back! Raise your voice like a shofar! Proclaim to my people what rebels they are, to the house of Ya'akov their sins. 2 "Oh yes, they seek me day after day and [claim to] delight in knowing my ways. As if they were an upright nation that had not abandoned the rulings of their God, they ask me for just rulings and [claim] to take pleasure in closeness to God,

3 [asking,] 'Why should we fast, if you don't see? Why mortify ourselves, if you don't notice?' "Here is my answer: when you fast, you go about doing whatever you like, while keeping your laborers hard at work. 4 Your fasts lead to quarreling and fighting, to lashing out with violent blows. On a day like today, fasting like yours will not make your voice heard on high.

Is 58:1-14

Page 54: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

5 "Is this the sort of fast I want, a day when a person mortifies himself? Is the object to hang your head like a reed and spread sackcloth and ashes under yourself? Is this what you call a fast, a day that pleases ADONAI? 6 "Here is the sort of fast I want - releasing those unjustly bound, untying the thongs of the yoke, letting the oppressed go free, breaking every yoke,

7 sharing your food with the hungry, taking the homeless poor into your house, clothing the naked when you see them, fulfilling your duty to your kinsmen!" 8 Then your light will burst forth like the morning, your new skin will quickly grow over your wound; your righteousness will precede you, and ADONAI's glory will follow you.

Is 58:1-14

Page 56: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

9 Then you will call, and ADONAI will answer; you will cry, and he will say, "Here I am." If you will remove the yoke from among you, stop false accusation and slander, 10 generously offer food to the hungry and meet the needs of the person in trouble; then your light will rise in the darkness, and your gloom become like noon.

Is 58:1-14

Page 57: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

11 ADONAI will always guide you; he will satisfy your needs in the desert, he will renew the strength in your limbs; so that you will be like a watered garden, like a spring whose water never fails. 12 You will rebuild the ancient ruins, raise foundations from ages past, and be called "Repairer of broken walls, Restorer of streets to live in."

Is 58:1-14

Page 58: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

13 "If you hold back your foot on Shabbat from pursuing your own interests on my holy day; if you call Shabbat a delight, ADONAI's holy day, worth honoring; then honor it by not doing your usual things or pursuing your interests or speaking about them.

Is 58:1-14

Page 59: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

14 If you do, you will find delight in ADONAI - I will make you ride on the heights of the land and feed you with the heritage of your ancestor Ya'akov, for the mouth of ADONAI has spoken.“ END (Baruch HaShem)

Is 58:1-14

Page 60: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

So we see quite clearly what we’re to do when we fast.Don’t go about doing whatever you want. Keep your focus on HaShem. Be careful not to slander anyone. Do good and help Believers in need.

Rebbe’s Parsha

Page 61: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

It also says to call His Shabbat a delight, we should do that always. If we call Shabbat a burden, we are attacking Scripture and making G-d to be a liar. If they say G-d’s Laws are dung, they are blasphemers and G-d is not in them.

7 "Look! I am coming very soon. Blessed is the person who obeys the words of the prophecy written in this book!" 8 Then I, Yochanan, the one hearing and seeing these things, when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel showing them to me.

9 But he said to me, "Don't do that! I am only a fellow-servant with you and your brothers, the prophets and the people who obey the words in this book. Worship God!" 10 Then he said to me, "Don't seal up the words of the prophecy in this book,g because the time of their fulfillment is near.

14 How blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they have the right to eat from the Tree of Life and go through the gates into the city! 15 Outside are the homosexuals, those involved with the occult and with drugs, the sexually immoral, murderers, idol-worshippers, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

16 "I, Yeshua, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the Messianic communities. I am the Root and Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star. 17 The Spirit and the Bride say, 'Come!' Let anyone who hears say, 'Come!' And let anyone who is thirsty come - let anyone who wishes, take the water of life free of charge."

18 I warn everyone hearing the words of the prophecy in this book that if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues written in this book. 19 And if anyone takes anything away from the words in the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the Tree of Life and the holy city, as described in this book.

20 "The one who is testifying to these things says, 'Yes, I am coming soon!'" That doesn’t mean we have to go about telling everyone Yeshua is coming soon. People have been saying that Yeshua is coming soon for 2,000 years… they were wrong.

Rebbe’s Parsha

Titus 2:13 while we look forward to that wonderful event when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. It doesn’t say we’re supposed to go and tell everyone He’s coming soon.

Rebbe’s Parsha

Page 72: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

We need to realize there are un-saved people out there who have heard this since they were kids and now they’re all grown up and they think Believers are a bunch of liars. We look forward to His coming and we live in hope that he’s coming soon.

Rebbe’s Parsha

Page 73: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

I don’t go telling people He’s coming soon. We have to realize that The Disciples didn’t even get it right. These were men who we’re not even worthy of tying their shoes. They knew things we wont know till we get to heaven.

Rebbe’s Parsha

Page 74: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

It’s presumptuous of me to think I know better then they.Yes, there are many wars and things happening now. But there were a lot worse things happening in WW II. There were worse things happening at the time of Nero.

Rebbe’s Parsha

Page 75: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

And if you think things can’t get any worse then they are today, well, then you’re just kiddin yourself. Things can get a lot worse. I’m not being an alarmist, I’m being a realist.

Today’s Message:

Yom Kippur1. How to celebrate…2. Natzal… (Catching away)3. Teshuva… (repentance +)

Page 80: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

So how do we celebrate the Feast of Yom Kippur?Well, we don’t feast for one. Then how come it’s called a Feast then?

Page 81: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

The word in Hebrew is “Hog”.So we say Hog Samayach for example, that means happy Holy Day is where we get the word holiday.

Page 82: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Samayach is happy and hog means holiday. So the Feast of Yom Kippur is actually the “holiday of Yom Kippur”. It’s not the feast of Yom Kippur regardless of what your translations say.

Page 83: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

So we fast this day. Why do we do that?Because the Bible tells us to in

Leviticus 23:27

Page 84: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

“The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present an offering made to the LORD by fire.”

Page 85: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Well it doesn’t say fast there does it? Says to deny yourself. In Hebrew it says ana nefesh which literally means to afflict your soul. Well, what does that mean?...

Page 86: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Couldn’t that be interpreted a lot of different ways? It could if it was standing by itself. But each and every time in Scripture, ana nefesh is used to mean fasting food. Everything has to be interpreted in context.

Page 87: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

But can’t one fast anything? Yes, a person can fast a lot of things. And if you chose to fast water and food today, like the Orthodox do, you’re free to do so. But the Bible doesn’t require that.

Page 88: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Why do the Orthodox believe it includes water? There’s a few reasons. In Exodus we read about Moses going up to Mt Sinai and it says…

Page 89: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

(Exo 34:28 And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

Page 90: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

(This was a very special circumstance for Moses, because if one normally goes without water for 40 days, they die.

Page 91: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

The book of Esther is also used, it says… (Est 4:16) Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which {is} not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

Page 92: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

So this was a three day fast, and not connected to Yom Kippur. And we see that when it was a fast for both food and water, it specifically says food and water. If it says only ana nefesh (or it’s masculine or feminine plural forms) it means only food every time. It’s all in context.

Page 93: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Concerning context…If one has a disposition against Jews, guess what, the Bible will not make any logical sense to that individual they will have to spiritualize 9/10ths of the Bible.

Page 94: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

They teach in Bible School, therefore the redeemed of the L-rd shall return unto Zion Isaiah 51:11 they taught us that means the Church going to heaven. You can read this in a multitude of Christian books out there.

Page 95: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

However, logic will tell you that the Church can’t return to a place it’s never been, the Church has never been to heaven. What it means is that Born again Jews will return to Zion, but… the Church doesn’t want to believe that so they spiritualize it since the context doesn’t fit their theology

Page 96: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

So everything HAS to be understood in context. Ana Nefesh in context means to go without food.So what else do we do for Yom Kippur. It’s a solemn day, it’s not a party day. This is the time to understand what Yeshua has done for us on that cursed cross and we’ll talk about Teshuva in a moment.

Page 97: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Another thing we do is blow the Shofar, the Tekiah… that’s one long blast. We’ll do that now…

Page 98: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

It being a solemn day we don’t go out to the movies or anything like that. Today, Jews go home and spend time with their family talking about the things of G-d. Talk to your wife about some of the things you’ve been thinking about concerning your faith. Answer any questions she might have. Go for a walk in the park.

Page 99: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Pick out a favorite teaching that meant something to you on the Beit Aveinu site and go over it with your family. Whatever you do make it about G-d. Keep the day sanctified and set apart.

Page 100: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

I remember the first Yom Kippur we had in Israel in Jerusalem. Everything came to a stop. No cars on the road, no buses no businesses were open it became an instant ghost town. It didn’t matter that only 10 percent were religious Jews, nobody dared to desecrate the Day of Atonement it was very quiet.

Page 101: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

As soon as the sun goes down (7:30 tonight) everything goes back to normal. It’s a time to remember G-d and to be a little quiet.

Page 102: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Why be quiet? Because you should be listening. As a Believer in yeshua, You should really be listening. Listening for what? Listening for the Second Coming.

Page 103: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

In Hebrew the catching away is called Natzal. In order to understand Natzal we have to go over a couple things. One is that we have to look deeper concerning the Tekiah blast of the Shofar that we did just a bit ago.

Page 104: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Psalms 89:15

“Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance.” (NKJ)But that’s not what it says in Hebrew. In Hebrew it says…

Page 105: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Ash-ray HaAm yod-aye te-ru-ah YHVHBlessed are the people that know the trumpet sound of the L_RD

B'or pah-naye-chaw Y'hah-lay-koonIn the light from Your face they shall walk

Page 106: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

Now that’s quite a bit different then just some joyful noise.Blessed is he who knows the trumpet sound. What trumpet sound…. THE trumpet sound.

Page 107: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

There’s a reason why we have Rosh HaShanna (the feast of trumpets) just before Yom Kippur, the day of atonement. The feast of trumpets is an announcement. It announces the return of HaMashiach (the Messiah)

You might remember when my dad was teaching and he explained to us the return of the Messiah would NOT come upon us as a thief in the night. We read…

Yom Kippur

1Thessalonians 5:2-4For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night when they say, "Peace and safety!" Then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. and they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.

In other words, we KNOW that it is coming. We see the Sign of the Son of Man for one. We know Rosh HaShanna is the announcement for the Second Coming.

Yom Kippur

In the end days we see the 6 trumpets of tribulation (represented by Rosh HaShanna) come upon the earth.

Yom Kippur

That’s 6 trumpets, not 7 the 7th trump is blown today on Yom Kippur and it is known by every Orthodox Jew as Shofar HaGadole (The Great Trumpet) The Tekiah! It is the 7th and final trumpet. In the last days when that trumpet blows it’ll fall on the year of jubilee.

Yom Kippur

That will happen when the Messianic Congregation no longer has any spots or wrinkles.Let’s talk about that for a second. He who has ears let him hear…For one you notice I didn’t say the Church wont have any spots or wrinkles. I didn’t say Church because it doesn’t have anything to do with Christianity. It’s about the Messianics being spotless and without wrinkle.

Page 114: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

There are some good Christians out there but they will have to get on board with us (the Messianics) and become Jews. That’s who the “Church” was back then, they were a bunch of Jews.

Getting those spots out of us, may not be so easy. Thus the word tribulation.

Page 115: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

We get our English word “tribulation” from the Latin TRIBULUM which is used to separate the wheat from the chaff. It looks like this…

This was then put on the ground and a person stood up on top of it to put some more weight on it and that looked like this…

One of our major goals here at Beit Aveinu is to get you to be sin free and without spot or wrinkle. We attempt to do it very gently, but sometimes people don’t want to listen and they rebel against even a little personal correction and…

they leave the Congregation in a huff saying “I can’t believe he talked to me like that”. Ok, ‘ hope you enjoy your tribulum. We’re trying to help, but in order to do that, you gotta have some openness and let down your pride a notch or two.

The Seventh Trumpet is the “Catching Away” Shofar1 Corinthians 15:51-5251 Behold, I tell you a hidden truth: We shall not all sleep in death, but we shall all be changed,52 in a moment, in the blink of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the shofar will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Page 125: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

This all happens at the Last Trump. Also notice it doesn’t say we’re all caught away in the twinkeling of an eye, it says we’ll all be changed in the twinkeling of an eye. This is the moment we will get our glorified bodies.

The Catching away of the Saints is the fulfillment of the Sixth Feast of the L-RD: Yom Kippur – The Day of Atonement in the Year of Jubilee

Page 127: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

There is a Fast every year on the Day of Atonement until the Fiftieth Year – The Year of Jubilee

Leviticus 25:9-109 Then have the shofar sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement sound the shofar throughout your land.10 Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each one of you is to return to his family property and each to his own clan.

Page 128: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Yom Kippur

The year of Jubilee is a time of restoration…We don’t know any longer when the year of jubilee is, after the destruction of the temple the count was lost. But G-d still knows when it falls and one day on the day of atonement, it’ll be on a year of jubilee.

Page 129: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

When that happens the last shofar will sound on Yom Kippur in the year of jubilee and everything will be restored.

This Last Shofar [Trumpet], Trumpet #7 is when the Believers get back all the things lost to mankind by sin – our JUBILEE!

The sin of Adam and Eve brought us: death, war, disease, loss of full communication with G-D, misery and pain.

But we’re told in 1 Corinthians 15:21-2221 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.22 For as in Adam all die, so in Messiah all will be

made alive. It all happens at the last trump

Teshuva

• Now, we’re going to talk about Teshuva.• Teshuva is usually translated as

“repentance” in English Bibles.• But it is so much more then just

that.

Page 139: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• In fact, not understanding what

Teshuva is has caused one of the bigger blunders in Church history (from which the Church is still suffering) and because of the lack of understanding of just exactly what it is, we’ve ended up having clowns for Sheppards instead of a nation of Priests.

Page 140: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• If we don’t truly understand

repentance, then the strongest part of Yeshua’s message while he was on earth is nothing more…

Page 141: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

• then confetti coming from the clown cannon

Page 142: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• Repentance in it’s shallowest form

isn’t even taught any more.• Actually the opposite is preached

from most pulpits.• Today people go to a place where

they’ll hear how they can keep on sinning and not only that but have

G-d’s blessings all along the way.

Page 143: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• They’ll tell their people, hey you’re

righteous… G-d loves ya just the way you are.• If that was true then why did “Jesus”

go around telling everyone to repent?

Page 144: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• Repent in it’s simplest form means to

turn around and go the other way. Sounds like change to me.

Page 145: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva•Does it make me angry, you bet it

does, it also disgusts me to see true repentance not taught in a place that claims to follow G-d.• And if it is taught, it can’t just be all

words either. I see that all the time.

Page 146: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• “Repent, repent, repent” and then

that same preacher goes out and does the same thing he’s always done, he keeps breaking G-d’s Laws.• They profane the Sabbath, they

don’t keep G-d’s appointed times.• They don’t keep Yom Kippur, it’s the

Holiest day of the year.

Page 147: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva•Do yourself a favor, after service

today, go see what your Pastor’s doing. • It’s the holiest day of the year, he

better be doing something.

Page 148: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• “Oh, he doesn’t know any better.”• Really? He doesn’t know what the

Gospel is, he doesn’t know he should keep the Sabbath and he doesn’t know to keep the Holiest day of the year, but wont miss the feast of Ishtar. I’m sorry, that’s not a Sheppard…

Page 149: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• You’re following a clown. He always

has a smile on, you can cry on his shoulder, he puts on a really good show and even the kids love him. If that’s what you’ve asked for then that’s what you’ll get. Hey BoBo tell us a story that’ll make us feel good.

Page 150: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• I’m not going to tell you a story to

make you feel good today. Today, if you have sin in your life I’m shooting to make you feel as uncomfortable as I possibly can. When your alone with your thoughts later on today, I hope you’ll grieve and have a revelation of what you’ve done to a G-d who loved you like a son or a daughter.

Page 151: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• Teshuva isn’t just repentance. It’s

coming to a place in your life where you have a deep understanding of the chaos you’ve created and the damage you’ve done. It’s understanding the full consequences of your actions and feeling disgusted at what your particular sin has done to you and those around you.

Page 152: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• depending on the sin, you may have

opened up your home to evil spirits. These spirits may be afflicting your family members even right now.• Sins you have committed may have

set your children or even your spouse on a destructive path.

Page 153: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• Before you ask for prayer for them,

make sure you’re not partly responsible.• If you are partly responsible you

may not be able to completely repair the damage you’ve done but you can stop further damage right now.

Page 154: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• “G-d heals all things once you

become a Believer”, no He doesn’t that’s a lie. • Lets me take it to an extreme to

show you a point, if you were a serial killer and then you get Saved, guess what? You still have broken families of your victims left in your wake.

Page 155: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• Take responsibility for what you’ve

done and weep over the chaos you’ve created with your sin. Once you can do that, then you begin to understand Teshuva.

Page 156: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• Teshuva is also about restitution.• Making restitution means to make

things right. If you bail out of this part of Teshuva you haven’t completed repentance.•What type of sins require

restitution?

Page 157: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva•Not all of them. You don’t go to your

ex girlfriends house and tell her your sorry for having immoral relations with her because her current 300 pound boyfriend might come outside and kill you. Now you’ve caused him to commit murder.

Page 158: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• You have to intelligently consider

which of your sins needs restitution.• If it’s a person you’ve sinned against

and they don’t know what you’ve done and it would not help or benefit them to know you need to find a way to restore or make right what you’ve done without them knowing.

Page 159: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• For example, say I’ve harbored

hatred and bitterness towards one of my brothers here at Beit Aveinu. I don’t walk up to that individual and say, “Ya know, I’ve hated you since the moment I laid eyes on you please forgive me, whew, wow, I feel better G-d bless ya brother”.

Page 160: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• All you did there is make yourself

feel better and may have now caused your brother to sin.• If you’ve stolen from someone you

need to pay them back. It doesn’t matter how long ago the theft occurred, you make it right.

Page 161: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• Teshuva is also about confession.• Confession wasn’t started by the

Catholics. It’s a Jewish thing. It’s even in the Torah…

Page 162: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• Numbers 5:5 ADONAI said to Moshe,

6 "Tell the people of Isra'el, 'When a man or woman commits any kind of sin against another person and thus breaks faith with ADONAI, he incurs guilt…

Page 163: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• 7 He must confess the sin which he

has committed; and he must make full restitution for his guilt, add twenty percent and give it to the victim of his sin.

Page 164: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva•We read again in Nehemiah 9… 1 On

the twenty-fourth day of this month the people of Isra'el, wearing sackcloth and with dirt on them, assembled for a fast.

Page 165: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• 2 Those descended from Isra'el

separated themselves from all foreigners; then they stood up and confessed their own sins and the iniquities of their ancestors.

Page 166: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• The Brit Hadasha echoes this in

James chapter 5… 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man (person) is powerful and effective.

Page 167: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• So what does it mean one to

another? It means between a man and his Rabbi and a woman and her Rebbitzin. Men confess to me and women confess to Teresa.

Page 168: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• “Why isn’t it to just anyone?”

Because of what it says there… The prayer of a righteous man (person) is powerful and effective.

Page 169: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• One shouldn’t indiscriminately just

go to any one else in the Congregation and start laying on them all their sins. That person you choose may not even BE righteous.

Page 170: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• “Why do it at all?” • Because again it says right there…

for prayer. You want someone qualified to pray and instruct you. The Rabbi might have some ideas on how to help you stop committing the sin.

Page 171: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• The Rabbi can also be helpful in then

keeping you accountable. • It also can help simply in the fact

that now that someone knows, you may not be quite so prone to doing it again.

Page 172: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva•Why do protestants not do this

then?•Well, for one, it was such a big

“Catholic thing” that the protestants wanted to distance themselves from it.

Page 173: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• It didn’t matter if its in the Bible or

not, it’s more important to distinguish themselves from the other groups. Which is exactly what the Catholics did to the Jews long before the Jew hating Protestants came along. You reap what you sow. Catholics and Protestants who hate Jews will not see the Kingdom of G-d.

Page 174: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• I’ve just as much against the

Protestants in history as I do the Catholics. • Back to confession, after service

today Teresa and I will be in 2 different rooms outside this classroom and we’ll be available for confession.

Page 175: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• In order to confess one’s sins, you

need to know what a sin is.•We’ve talked before that it isn’t any

evil thought that comes into your mind. It can become a sin if you continue to meditate on it or plan to do it. But a fleeting thought is NOT a sin.

Page 176: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• I’m not a serial killer because I

watched a documentary on serial killers. Police detectives aren’t in sin when they have to get into the minds of criminals in order to catch them. “They thought it, it’s just as if they did it”. No wonder Christians say they sin everyday and that it’s impossible to NOT sin.

Page 177: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• If one has sinned because of every

evil thought, then yeah, they have sinned because you can’t help those thoughts coming into your mind every day. But we know that’s NOT what Yeshua was talking about for 2 reasons…

Page 178: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• 1 if we can’t help sinning everyday,

then Yeshua couldn’t have told the adulteress in John 8:11 to “Go and sin no more”.• Reason number 2 is that it’s stupid to

think that would count as something that can separate you from G-d.

Page 179: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• Increased faith doesn’t equal

stupidity or lack of common sense.• In fact faith in the truth enhances

intelligence and common sense.

Page 180: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• This whole idea of “Oh I had a bad

thought, dog gone it, G-d has left me”. You’d have to go completely brain dead in order to stay a Believer. Which, admittedly, is what many seem to have done.

Page 181: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• So what is sin then?• This is the best day in the year to talk

about it. • 1 John 3:4 says…Sin is the

transgression of the Law.• Yes, sin does separate you from G-d.

That being said, all sin has to be committed with knowledge and understanding of what you’ve done.

Page 182: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• a sin unto death can not be done in

ignorance.• So what is a sin unto death?• That’s a sin that you know you’ve

committed.• A sin not unto death is a sin that you

honestly didn’t know was a sin.

Page 183: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• Now, that doesn’t mean one can

claim ignorance on all their sins.•Well, I didn’t know we weren’t

supposed to keep the Law.•Maybe you didn’t but let me share

with you all it takes to have known.• “hmm Pauls says I am not free from

the Law, nah, I don’t wanna do that, I think my pastor’s right.”

Page 184: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• rejection can happen that quickly.• In a blink of an eye, one can reject G-d’s Laws.• “Ooo, that’s harsh, Christians don’t

think rejecting G-d’s truth can happen so easily.”

Page 185: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva•Wanna bet, 90% of the Churches out

there will tell you that if someone preaches a 5 minute Salvation message to someone and that person right there on the spot rejects Jesus, if they died, they go to hell.• Rejection can happen in the blink of

an eye.

Page 186: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• If you’ve rejected G-d’s Torah, this is the

day to repent. Make it right today. If you’ve told your friends that the Law isn’t for you, repent and then go to them and tell them you were wrong. If you’ve rejected G-d’s Laws and have done things just because your Pastor told you to, repent and go tell your Pastor, you’ve sinned against G-d.

Page 187: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• G-d is convicting you right now

rather you feel it or not. • If you want to know how G-d uses

our feelings, I’ll tell ya when that is…

Page 188: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• it’s when your heart feels broken

because of your disobedience. It’s when your heart is in your throat and you can hardly talk because you feel your sin weighs like truck on your back. That’s what you should be feeling if you truly understand Teshuva.

Page 189: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• The One and only G-d came and died

for you on a cross in a most painful of ways. Physically worse then your worst illness, worse then your worst headache He felt more pain in His heart then any of us who have lost a loved one. Yeshua died for our sins and sin is the breaking and rejection of G-d’s Laws

Page 190: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• If you truly did not know that

breaking or rejecting G-d’s Laws wasn’t a sin. Consider yourself educated this day, on the Day of Atonement.• If you’re involved in a sin here’s

what you can do to start. I’m going to demonstrate for you.

Page 191: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway. Ask the money changer for more details

Teshuva• You get yourself some burlap and

then get some ashes from your BBQ and you do this…• (Demonstrate starting with tear)• Then you ask G-d to help you to

never repeat that sin again ever.
