Update : Our new classroom

demountable is looking great. The carpet is being laid at the

moment, the furniture has arrived and it is getting close to

being completed.

It is important to adhere to the signs outside

of the school to ensure we are following

the rules & regulations and in turn effectively

teaching our children correct procedures.

Drop Off &

Pickup Zone

ONLY

No parking at any

10 minute

Parking Only.

Options for afternoon pickups

Top Crossing - students can walk up the stairs

onto Silky Oak Drive. This is the only crossing point

at the front of the school during the afternoon

dismissal. The lower crossing is closed while the

“pickup zone” is in operation due to congestion.

Students are supervised across the crossing to be

met by parents on the other side.

Walking Line - students walk on footpath

adjacent to our access road past Swansea High

School. Parents can meet students at any point

outside the gate.

Bus Line - Students can join this line and meet

parents outside the front of the High School on

Park Ave.

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Zone Swimming Carnival last

Thursday and Friday. Mr Egginton and Miss Bell reported our students were well behaved and

showed excellent sportsmanship throughout the carnival. Well done and best of luck to the

students who made it through to the Hunter Carnival.

Values Education

A reminder Respect is the current value of focus. Respect is defined as a positive feeling or

action shown towards someone or something; it conveys a sense of admiration for good or

valuable qualities; and it is also the process of honouring any person by exhibiting care,

concern, or consideration for their needs or feelings. This is an important value for everyone

in our school community to live by. We as adult need to be good role models for the students

in our care, demonstrating respect when communicating either face to face, in written form,

when dealing with the rights and views of others or indeed when following our Caves Beach

PS rules.

Weekly Class Report featuring 4B

4B have had a wonderful start to the school year! We

have been learning how to use See Saw with our

iPads as part of our literacy and maths groups to

upload our class work and demonstrate the new

skills we have been learning. This term, as part of

our ‘Heating Up’ Science unit, we will be

investigating different heat sources and how heat

moves from one object to another. We are looking

forward to learning about this through lots of fun

experiments in the coming weeks! Last week, as part

of our history focus ‘Community and Remembrance’,

we explored and discussed the importance of ‘song

lines’ for Aboriginal people and recognised that there

are many different aboriginal languages throughout

Australia.

Congratulations to the following students who have

achieved a GOLD Award.

WIZARD OF OZ - OUT OF UNIFORM DAY To celebrate the world premiere of

THE WIZARD OF OZ - ARENA SPECTACULAR (featuring students from Caves Beach Public School) in Newcastle this April, schools all over the Hunter region are taking part in the

WIZARD OF OZ SCHOOL DRESS UP DAY competition taking place on Friday 8th March, 2019.

COME TO SCHOOL DRESSED AS YOUR FAVOURITE

OZ CHARACTER!

Your school selects a BEST DRESSED winner, who

will receive a VIP Double Pass to see the show. THEN....

A photo of the BEST DRESSED winner from each school will

be posted to our website so the general public can vote for

their favourite. The photo that receives the most votes will

win the prize of a lifetime.... Complimentary tickets for 500

people from your school to attend an exclusive viewing of

the final dress rehearsal performance of THE WIZARD OF OZ

on Friday 26th April at the Newcastle Entertainment Cen-

tre! School Parliament will also use this day as an out of

uniform charity fundraiser – charity to be announced soon. Come dressed as a character or simply out of uniform and

bring a gold coin donation.

Have you lost something?

Apart from the usual hats, clothing, drink bottles and

lunchboxes, we have had a wallet, 3 x pairs of children’s

reading glasses & an opal travel card handed in at the

office. Please see the ladies in the office for more details.

Lost Property is located outside of the staff room.

Welcome back to another year (or your first!) at Caves

Beach Primary School! We are very excited to be a part

of this great school and look forward to being a part of

your child's journey. SRE (aka Scripture), Ethics and non

scripture are held each Thursday afternoon. Volunteers

from local churches freely give up their time to come

and help students investigate what the Bible says about

life in Christian SRE.

All teachers have up to date Working With Children

Checks, have completed 7 modules of training and

Creating Safe Spaces Training, in order to best serve

your children and keep them safe. They use a Dept of

Education approved curriculum that allows students to

look at questions like 'What is God like? and 'Who wrote

the Bible?'.

SRE can be invaluable in helping shape your child's

values. Christian SRE offers a biblical worldview that

teaches traditional ethics and values, and fosters

genuine tolerance towards those with a different faith

heritage. Christian SRE will help your child appreciate

the impact of Christianity upon Western culture. Our

legal system, literature, art, music and even our

language have all been influenced by Christianity.

Lessons are filled with games, songs, discussion and

book work. At Easter and Christmas we have a big

assembly where our special guest Fergus (a chocolate

eating purple puppet) attends and helps students

understand why we celebrate these fantastic

holidays. We can't wait to spend the year with your kids.

Samantha Brown - SRE Coordinator

A NOTE FROM OUR ADMINISTRATION OFFICE

Thank you to all our parents who have made payments to our office. We apologise for how busy our office can be

and the congestion in this space. To assist our families with making payments we have some handy tips.

Cash - When sending money into the office, please place it in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name,

roll class, fees being paid and amount enclosed. These important details on this envelope help us track any

discrepancies.

Our office can only accept the correct money. We don’t carry a float and therefore cannot issue change. Any

overpayment we will be banked into your families Fees in Advance for future use.

Parent Online Payment - Our little foyer can get extremely congested in the mornings and afternoons. To help

ease this congestion we recommend using the Parent online Payments. These payments can be done through our

website.

Our website details are: https://cavesbeach-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/ Simply click on ‘Make a Payment’ and follow

the instructions to complete. NOTE: Student Registration Number and Ref Number are not required.

EFTPOS - Our office accepts EFTPOS at the counter between the hours of 8.30 – 3.15pm.

ALL cash payment and notes can go straight into the black letterbox near the Admin front desk.
