Congratulations

Well done to Lyra Kerr, Rosie Medlin, Toby Medlin and Matilda Medlin who have completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge for 2019. Great reading. With holidays coming up there will be extra time to read. The challenge doesn’t finish until August. If students wish to borrow extra books over the holidays they can come and see me, in the library, on Thursday or Friday.

New Furniture Thank you to Mr Edmunds for putting our new furniture together. It was a big job. It all looks great and really brightens up our library space. We are very fortunate to have such an inviting space for learning and relaxing at breaks. Our students are loving the seats and the construction table.

It isn’t all reading in the library. Natalie and Lucy have been creating a street scene to display Stage 2 road safety words and phrases. Thank you girls, it will look great when you are finished. Enjoy the holidays. Sue Buttrey Teacher Library

Boys Rugby Union Gala Day Our senior and junior boys rugby union teams participated in a Gala Day last Thursday. The event was organised and run by NSW Rugby. Our junior boys made it all the way to the Grand Final and unfortunately went down 4-2 to a strong team from Mudgee. Our senior boys went through their rounds topping the group however also went down to a Wellington team 4-2. All boys should be commended on their team spirit during the day. Also a huge thanks to the parents and carers who came along to help support Dubbo South Public School.

Science and Engineering Challenge On Thursday and Friday a number of selected Dubbo South Public School students went on an all day excursion to Macquarie Anglican Grammar School to compete in the Science and Engineering challenge. The challenge was hosted by The University of Newcastle, and multiple Year 12 students who attended South Campus sacrificed 2 days to help out with the activities. Some of the many activities held at this event were Get over it, where you had to build a bridge to hold gold ingots (weights), Get a Grip, in this challenge you had to make a functioning finger, Electropolis, had to light up a whole city while using certain power sources, Light comms, where they had to communicate through colours, And many others. Overall it was a great day and all students had a blast. Ava and Ollie

Boys Cricket Dubbo South Public School travelled to Cudgegong. The game was very close, and we went on and won by 2 runs. Cooper Giddings had to retire on 50, hitting some beautiful timed shots. Dubbo South Public School will play against Dubbo Public School in the 3rd round of the competition. This game will be played early next term. Well done to all the boys who played. Their sportsmanship was outstanding.
