PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

We have a big week coming up with the Swimming Carnival on Tuesday. Parents are most welcome to come and support and cheer on their child and other students from GPS.

We hope to have a great community atmosphere at the carnival. Students are allowed and encouraged to wear their house colours on Tuesday to support their house.

Swimmers who are successful at our school carnival will then go on to compete at the Cudgegong Zone Swimming Carnival on the 26th February.

Best of luck to all of our swimmers.

On assembly this morning I talked about being thankful for the opportunities we have at school.

This was after watching a documentary on the ABC on Sunday night in which a young African family had to walk 7km each day to and from school just to access education.

The oldest of the family at 9years old, lead his younger brother and sister to and from school each day.

The value they placed on their schooling was amazing. Sometimes we can forget how lucky we are to live in a great town like Gulgong with all that it offers.

This week I have asked all students at some point to say Thanks to their teachers for helping them and preparing fun and engaging lessons for them to complete each day. I have already had staff come to me and say that some of their students have said thanks and it made their day.

In the playground today we started Circus again. This great initiative has run for years at GPS and allows students another outlet at school for their creativity.

We are very lucky to have some amazingly talented stilt walkers and Hula Hooper’s as shown in the photos below.

Finally I would like to personally invite all parents and family members to our Welcome Back BBQ this Friday morning.

Staff will be around the back Quad to have a chat to parents and provide bacon and egg rolls and juice for breakfast.

We would love to see as many parents as possible.
