Dear Parents & Community,
Post Storm Clean Up
Like many other properties, our school sustained a small amount of damage during the rain episode just over a week ago. Mr Barnett’s room experienced some flooding and two trees were damaged next to our lower oval. I am pleased to say that following carpet cleaning and repair works, Mr Barnett’s room is now back in action. We will have the two fallen trees removed as soon as the oval dries sufficiently to allow a heavy truck to be brought on site. Waiting a bit of extra time will ensure our oval is not damaged with deep tyre ruts.
Term Account
The Term One Statement of Account will be sent out via SchoolBytes later this week. If you do not receive the account via email, please contact our school office to ensure your details are up to date. As we are not holding specialist Science classes this year, we have removed that subject contribution from the accounts as I want the finance to be as transparent as possible. This will mean the subject contributions will be $25 less than those from last year.
1:1 Devices
You will see a 1:1 device levy of $30 appear on each term account distributed this year. This levy provides each student in our school with access to their own individual device that are used in the classroom each and every day. For many years, the P&C provided significant funding to purchase sufficient devices for a 2:1 program, and last year, using school funds we rolled out the 1:1 program. The technology levy is solely used for the purchase of new devices, ensuring each student has access to a device that is capable of running the latest software. As has always been the case, the school fully funds the purchase of software, replacement cases and any repairs due to accidental damage that may

2
occur. Last year, we used the technology levy to replace 95 aging first generation iPads that were no longer fit for purpose due to software incompatibility and battery issues.
I thank you for your support of the 1:1 device program across our school as it provides very unique opportunities for our students that are typically not available at most other schools.
Swimming Carnival
We are very excited about this Thursday’s school swimming carnival. Permission notes should now have been returned for all students attending. The event is open to students turning 8 this year (this may be Year 2 or 3) through to those students currently in Year 6. We encourage all students to have a go on the day and give their best effort.
Please be aware, that students swimming the form strokes (Butterfly, Breaststroke, and Backstroke) should be able to use correct stroke technique. Whilst we want as many students to have a go as possible, we wish to avoid disqualifications due to students swimming incorrect strokes.
We have purchased a new timing system for use at swimming and athletics carnivals in an attempt to streamline our processes and lessen the time between each event. Whilst we will be running it for the first time at the swimming carnival, we will also have a backup in case it doesn’t run according to plan!
Parking
With the recent wet weather, there has been an increase in parents driving children to and from school. Unfortunately, this has also meant an increase in the number of people not obeying the road rules at the front of the school and in the local side streets. I am well aware that most people follow the rules, but it seems that a small number continue to ignore the road safety message.
When dropping children off or picking them up, please:
DO NOT - Stop in the No Stopping Zones- it blocks drivers’ views of the crossing and driveways
DO NOT - Double Park until a parking spot appears. YOU MUST keep moving to allow the traffic to flow
safely.
DO NOT - Cross Double Lines to overtake slow moving cars. Please be patient.
DO NOT - Encourage children to run through parked cars and across the road. It is highly dangerous.
Over the last fortnight, the staff and I have witnessed the above mentioned behaviours exhibited on multiple occasions. Do not prioritise your convenience above that of student safety.

CANTEEN NEWS
This week Carolyn and the canteen team are bringing you the ever popular and delicious Chicken Nachos for Meal of the Week. Chicken Nachos have proven very popular with the kids in the past, so please place your orders by 7:00 on Wednesday and Friday mornings to avoid missing out. This earlier cut-off time is essential to help us ensure that lunch orders are ready in time to fit in with the schools amazing new sports program.
We are now looking for volunteers to join the 2020 canteen team. Volunteering at the canteen is a great way to meet new people, or catch up with friends, whilst supporting your school community. For those of you who are new to our school, volunteering at canteen couldn’t be easier. Not only will the professional paid staff step you through the process, volunteering requires only one, 2 or 3 hour shift, per term. That’s right, only one shift per term. And the best thing of all is that the kids love it when their parents volunteer for canteen. Just email [email protected] for more information. We would love to hear from you.

Thank you to all our parent supervisors, a copy of the parent roster is forwarded via email to all dance families each time it is updated - this week please check your email for the latest version.
Please remember the parent supervision duty is an important part of our program and is organised on a roster system, it is a condition of participation in the dance program that all parents/guardians help with supervision through the year. When you’re rostered on for supervision duty, please arrive with your child at class at 7.50am. If you are unable to attend your rostered duty, it is your responsibility to organise a swap with another parent in your group. Uniform Shop Committee Changes 2020
After many years of work on the committee both Sharlene Cook and Emma Willmott will be stepping down from their roles this year as their youngest children are in their final year of school at ENPS. They have both been a tremendous asset to the shop and we are very thankful for service. Their work ethic, innovation and attention to detail will be missed when they leave their roles this year. Please note the Uniform Shop operating hours are flexible and dependent on availability of the Uniform Shop Manager.
After 6 years of Treasurer for the Uniform Shop, Daphne has made the decision to step away from the role, but not the Uniform Shop Committee, and has already sourced a replacement in Teresa Madigan. Daphne has been a strong foundation in the Uniform Shop Committee structure and we are forever grateful to all her work and attention to detail in dealing with the numerous invoices and balancing of books with all our suppliers and cash & bank activities.
8
Angela Pond stepped down as Stock Controller in Nov 2019, and Paula Brodie has offered to fill the role on a temporary basis until we can source a new volunteer. Paula had successfully managed the process for a number of years before Angela replaced her, we are extremely thankful for her assistance in sorting the stock as we move into 2020. We are keen to have another Stock Controller in place as soon as possible so Paula can focus on transitioning the Uniform Shop to a Point of Sale solution with stock and invoice back end management streamlining our processes.
The Point of Sale solution is a key priority of the Uniform Shop in 2020.
Explanation of job roles available on our website: https://sites.google.com/site/enpsuniformshop/volunteers
All positions would involve extensive hand over and support from existing volunteers.
All roles (excluding the Store Manager) suits full time working parent as work can be done outside of working hours.
Our next committee meeting is 8pm Wednesday, 1st April.
If you are interested to join the committee/ any of the roles listed above, please email [email protected]
