School Photo Day School photos will be taken on Wednesday the 25

th February, 2015 by The School Photographer. Order envelopes were

sent home last week and should be returned to the office no later than 24th February, 2015 should you wish to purchase

photos. Family photo order envelopes are available from the school office. Schoolparents.com.au Ruse Public School has joined Schoolparents.com.au – the new parent(carer) – only network connecting parents and carers based on the school their child attends. Schoolparents is free to join. Our school has a page where you can receive updates on school events. In addition, you can introduce yourself online to parents from your child’s class – great for organising play dates, birthday parties, buying and selling items or just sharing advice. As a school, we are excited that we are able to create a social media presence in an appropriate, monitored online environment. Parent/Teacher Evening Our ‘Meet the teacher’ evening is tonight from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. 5.00 Gates open – parents and children are encouraged to bring a picnic rug. BBQ and mixed softdrinks will be available free of charge. The BBQ will be sponsored by Schoolparents.com.au (see information above) 6.00 - Welcome and introduction to Schoolparents.com.au Partnerships Manager, Daryl Lo. Parents may move to classes with their children or they may like to drop their children to the school hall for a movie. This will be an opportunity to meet and chat with your child’s teacher in an informal environment. We encourage parents to bring along questions. We ask that you ensure your child or children are either in your care or in the school hall while you move around classrooms. No children are permitted to remain unsupervised in the quadrangle. The purpose of the evening is not for a one to one interview. If you require an interview you may like to make a time with your child’s teacher or wait until the last week of term when we will have scheduled parent-teacher meetings in the school hall. If you have more than one child in the school you are encouraged to move around classrooms at your convenience. 7.30 - Night concludes Voluntary Contributions Voluntary Contributions are now due. We thank you for your support with this. Parent Online Payments Parents are able to make online payments for amounts owing in excess of $5-00 via a secure payment page. The payment page is accessed through the schools website by selecting the Parent Online Payment link on the front page of the school website Make New Online Payment. Payments to the P&C for fundraisers, Bookclub or BBQ days at school CANNOT be made via this system. This is a secure payment system hosted by Westpac to ensure your credit/debit card details are captured in a secure manner; these details are not passed back to the school. For any enquiries please contact the school. School Banking School banking is up and running again. Don’t forget Thursday is banking day. Stage 3 are settling in well to their new classes and are working hard as they enter the final stage of their primary

schooling. Students are studying ‘Australian Identity’ this term and the many factors that influence who we are. All

classes are enjoying the novel ‘Thai-riffic’ which explores multiculturalism. In Science, students are learning about

electricity and ways in which we can plan to conserve our natural energy resources.

We are looking forward to the many adventures that await Stage 3 students this year including attending The Great

Aussie Bush Camp and the leadership camp at Wedderburn.

Canteen News

We have been successfully trialing blueberry and banana muffins at recess on

certain days of the week. These are considered 'green' foods under the

Department of Health guidelines, and at 50 cents each represent good value.

They will be especially appreciated during the colder weather.

Help needed in the canteen! Ideally we need fifteen people to cover the five days each week. At the moment we have three mums and four grandmothers - some of these volunteers work three days each week. Even if you are unable to commit to a

day every week, once a fortnight would be still be appreciated. Please talk to Kylee or Annette in the canteen, any day with the exception of Thursday, or leave your details with the office staff and you will be contacted. Thank you in anticipation. Kylee and Annette
