UPDATE (Currently supporting 15 open loans - total of 68
supported)
Good news from Sanasar! Sanasar successfully paid for working tools needed for auto repair service. Due
to your understanding and support, his living is much easier now. His gratefulness has no limits. Sanasar is
an auto repairman who lives in Akhuryan village with his family. Sanasar provides auto repair service for
local people.
Paid in Full
Maria Del Carmen - El Salvador
Maria is the owner of a small tortilla shop, which she opened out of personal motivation and also out of
need for more sources of income to fulfill her obligations. The loan has enabled her to buy corn and lime,
which provide the raw material needed to keep her tortilla shop in business and attract new customers. With
this, she will make the most of her business's good location. She hopes sales will increase and generate
more income. Her dream is to grow her business and have more income in order to help her children finish
their college education. Maria had intended to pay back her loan between February and June. Her business
must be doing very well in its new location as she was able to make a payment in January and her final
payment in February. Congratulations and best of luck in expanding the business!
Maria Jose - Manta, Ecuador
María José has completed payment on her loan. Maria, a 28 year old, married woman with a daughter,
requested a loan to repair walls in her home that were damaged due to an earthquake. She is a merchant
who runs a stationary and copy business to support her husband and her family. With the loan she also
purchased bond paper, foam crafts, poster paper, notebooks, etc. to supply her business.
New Loans - With additional loan repayments we were able to make two new loans.
Akili Group - Denphorose - Dominican Republic Charcoal Sales
Denphorose is a client with the micro-finance institution Hekima and the president of the loan group
"Akili." She is 55 years old, married, and the mother of eight children. All of her children are attending
school. Denphorose has sold charcoal for 13 years, starting with funds she made herself little by little
working for others. To continue doing business, she is going to buy 50 sacks of charcoal to stock her
warehouse. Through her hard work, Denphorose plans to send all her children to university. She says
thank you to Hekima and their partners for their goodwill supporting the poor.
Francisco Humberto - El Transito, El Salvador - Fishing/Oysters
Francisco has a third grade education, since his parents could not afford to support him any longer and he
had to go to work. His wife is a homemaker. They have two children, who attend school, and are expecting
a baby. For ten years Francisco has been running an oyster hatchery. He learned the business from a friend
who helped him get started. The hatchery is 50 meters from his home, so he walks to and from work. His
wife is involved in his work as she goes out to sell the oysters at production harvest time. Francisco also
grows corn in the winter.
He is in need of the loan to buy netting and cement posts to make another hatchery and improve the one he
has. His dream is to produce a large amount of oysters and give his children an education since he did not
have the opportunity. He wants them to become pilots.

ATTENTION BIBLE STUDY LOVERS!
Our Bible Study group has collectively decided to move our weekly
Bible Study from Thursdays to Mondays. Same time and place as
always – 11am in my office. This move in date is because many of our
current attendees are active in the Red Hat group as well as the
Plymouth and Prospect Seniors groups, and many of their events take
place on Thursdays. We hope this new day will be a great way for all of
us to kick off the week! We currently have around nine in our group,
and we are always open to newcomers. We have a lot of deep
discussions as well as many laughs, sharing about our lives, and we pray
together. Throughout the year we also watch religious-themed movies
together, periodically have lunch together, and do other kinds of
projects such as make the ashes for Ash Wednesday. All of us make a
special bond and thoroughly enjoy exploring the Bible together. Join
us!
Have you recently moved or changed email addresses? We are trying
to update our membership list. Please call Sue in the office or email her

PROPOSED BYLAWS CHANGES
Submitted by Curt Wilbanks
The proposed Church Bylaws changes listed below have been reviewed by the Church
Council and will be presented for subsequent action by the Congregation at the February,
2017 Annual Meeting. Proposed new wording is underlined.
Item #1 Article B-1, paragraph E and Article C-3, paragraph 10 – Change the
wording to, “……parliamentary procedures be specified in the current
edition of Roberts Rules of Order.”
Basis: Clearly states what has been up to now only implied.
Item #2 Article C-3,Paragraph #8 – Term limits of elective positions shall be:
Officers, Assistant Treasurers, Collector: one(1) year, renewable
annually, or until their successors are elected.
Task Group Leaders, At-Large Council Members: two (2) years
with a maximum of two (2) consecutive terms, or until their
successors are elected.
Committee Members: one (1), two (2) or three (3) year terms as
selected by the candidates, up to a maximum of six (6) consecutive
years, or until their successors are elected.
Basis: New wording facilitates parliamentary procedures to be employed in the
event of a need for involuntary termination of an electee’s tenure.
Item #3 Article C-3 Delete the sentence, “Chairperson shall serve as such for not more
than two (2) consecutive years unless otherwise provided in these
Bylaws.”
Basis: Addresses the need to retain effective leaders as committee chairpersons
by providing Task Group Leaders and their Committee Members options
for Chairmanship tenure.
Item #4 Article F-1 – FINANCE COMMITTEE
Increase the number of elected members from three(3) to four (4).
Basis: Requested by the Finance Committee to better cope with the work-load of
their varied responsibilities.
Item #5 Article F-2 – TREASURER
Add new paragraph 3; “Provide quarterly statements to
contributors regarding their pledge payment status.”
Change all subsequent paragraph numbers accordingly.
16
Item #6 Article F-3 COLLECTORS
Add a second Collector position and pluralize all references
thereto in these Bylaws
Change paragraph 3 to read; “Provide at least quarterly an account
of every contributor’s pledge payment status to the Treasurer.”
Item#7 Article F-5 ASSISTANT TREASURER
Change to a single position.
Add new paragraph 4; “Be an ex-officio, on call, non-voting
member of the Finance Committee.”
Basis: Items 5, 6, and 7 reflect the changing functional and organizational needs
of the church’s financial positions.
Please contact Curt Wilbanks, ByLaws Manager at 860-583-3910 if there questions.
