SUDOKU – JUST FOR FUN

PGA Golf Tips from Jeremy Nicholls at South Staffs Golf Club Academy..... In last months article we informed you of our up and coming joint venture with South Staffs Golf Club. For those of youwho are possibly thinking of taking up golf, we offer not only individual tuition but a number of group sessions that werun at the Academy to get you into golf, whether you’re a senior, lady or junior. Our facilities also include covered andfloodlit driving range, grass tee, chipping and putting areas , as well as a 18 hole Par 3, ideal for beginners and also forthe more established golfer looking to sharpen their short game.Saturday Morning Junior Golf Academy: This is held every Saturday morning for 50 weeks of the year. The academy isrun over 2 – 1 hour sessions. The 10-11am session is the advanced group who have been attending for some time andjuniors who have some knowledge and ability regarding the basics of golf. The 11-12pm group is our “Get into Golf” session aimed at beginners and introducing juniors to the game of golf. The cost of these sessions are £4, this includes any clubs hired and range balls used during the hour. The sessions are aimed at keeping the juniors interested and motivated, covering all aspects of the game, starting withchipping, putting, range work and with the advanced group several holes played on the course when the weatherpermits. The beginners group, once they become more confident will also play a hole or 2 with myself so that they alsobegin to learn the etiquette of the game.Seniors Days: These days were introduced to encourage the retired golfer (over 60’s) especially during the week, whenthe course has quiet periods so we offer a discount to attract them to play. The senior days are Tuesday and Thursdaysand we offer 18 holes on the par 3 at a discounted rate of £4. Both days are very popular and well attended.Ladies Mornings: We run these on alternate Fridays during the year. The aim is to introduce and get more ladies playinggolf in a relaxed and informal environment. This group has a good core group of 8-10 ladies, with ladies joining us see ifthe game of golf is for them, and some progress to play on full size courses as well. Our Ladies mornings aim to bring together ladies who wish to enjoy a social game of golf with other ladies, both onthese mornings as well as meeting up at other times to play. The mornings begin with the ladies meeting up in Café for coffee, between 9.30-10.00am, followed by 45 minutes grouptuition with myself, we cover all aspects of the game, range to cover basics, grip, posture etc. chipping, putting, bunkerpractice, and any other issues the ladies raise regarding their game. This is followed by 18 holes on the par 3 course. Thecost of our ladies morning is £10.00 all inclusive.

A Word From Paul Uppal......................... This week I continued my campaign toensure Wolverhampton gets the train station it desperately needs, by asking for the PrimeMinisters support at PMQs this week.I am thrilled to tell you that £13.5 million has been secured through the local transport andgrowth deal. I have always championed these essential improvements and I am glad the PrimeMinister agrees. These improvements are essential for reducing congestion at peak times as wellas regenerating Wolverhampton City Centre. This will be my final article before the General Election. Over the last 5 years, I have proudlyworked hard for Wolverhampton. During this time the city has attracted millions of pounds ofinvestment; creating jobs and apprenticeships. One of my proudest moments was securing thereturn of Barbabra Hepworth’s ‘Rock Form’ for the people of Wolverhampton to enjoy. Manyvisitors to the Mander centre have enjoyed her over the past 46 years and many more people willenjoy it for years to come.As we have seen in the budget this week, we are restoring confidence in our countries financesand continue to improve people’s lives. The NHS is always a priority and I will continue tocampaign for investment in our health system, ensuring that patients get the best possible careand treatment. Moreover, the Chancellor has now announced that there will be an extra £2 billionfunding every year for frontline NHS services in addition to our promise that NHS spending willrise every year in the next Parliament in real terms.Even though the election will soon be upon us, I will still be there to answer any concerns you mayhave or any problems you may be experiencing.

At Smartkids we tailor the learning for our children so thatwe can develop truly independent learners. Our childrencome to us for tuition in all subjects; Computer Skills,Maths, English, SATs practice, 11+ tuition Languages andGCSE are just some of the subjects they study. We even runa homework club staffed by our qualified teachers. This notonly helps the children, but is also great for their parents asit takes the stress away from them.We use computers to deliver our learning programmes. Whatmakes us different is that many of our learners are workingtowards nationally recognised computer qualifications, andalthough many of them are still very young, they pass GCSEequivalent exams. With no exam nerves whatsoever, oursuccess rate is 100%.All our learners are supported by “helpers”; older studentswho have passed their computer exams with us, and whonow work as mentors for the younger ones. We also specialise in helping children with learningdifficulties. Although they love learning, they often comebecause they find school frustrating and at Smartkids theycan learn in a relaxed environment with teachers whounderstand their needs. To quote one of our children “I reallylove coming here because it’s so fun that it doesn’t feel likeyou’re learning but you are really!”See Advert on p20 for more information
