QSEs with resources not planning on utilizing API’s in production

MP Input using SCED User Interface October Mandatory *

* Starting in October Market Participant involvement is critical to begin producing “Reasonable” LMPs. During this period the Market Participants should have a partial EDS system in place to support the activities and functionality being demonstrated. The EDS team will provide workshops during this time to support Market Participants. Required Market Participants that are not able to participate will have to still perform these activities by requesting a ‘make-up’ workshop prior to involvement in later EDS activities. There will be limited opportunities for support due to focus on other EDS functionality.** The EDS team recommends that all QSEs with resources schedule some time to get familiar with the SCED user interface even if they are planning on utilizing APIs in production. This will help ensure that Market Participants have a second method for accessing the EDS systems if their APIs are not functioning correctly.

Define LMP posting requirements – what does “at least six months” mean? What LMP analysis and feedback requirement?

Define a method for Load Frequency Control Testing, including the plan for settlement of nodal testing periods (Compliance involvement)

Create a CRR detailed test plan describing each step of trial allocation & auction

Define PCRR / CRR allocation process for testing

What is Data is needed to support EDS3?

Resource Data is needed for EDS3-SCED Testing

• What ERCOT has:– Zonal Generation Asset Registration Forms (GARFs on file at ERCOT)

• What ERCOT does not have:– Subset of new resource parameters for nodal market (not on file at ERCOT)

• ERCOT’s plan to get EDS3 Resource Data established in nodal systems– In the short term (for pre-EDS3 testing), ERCOT is to release a

spreadsheet to QSEs and/or Resource Entities to complete the “bare-bones” list of Resource data needed for data entry validation

• ERCOT will upload data into Market Management System (MMS)

– In the longer term (for mandatory EDS3 activities), ERCOT is to release a new version of the Resource Asset Registration Form to Resource Entities to have completed and on file at ERCOT

• ERCOT will release new Resource Asset Registration Form (and upon request can provide the zonal GARF that is on file)

• New form will highlight new data elements needed

http://nodal.ercot.com 32Lead from the front

Texas Nodal

Nodal Sandbox/Interface Testing Environment

• Purpose of Sandbox

– Allow Market Participant developers (and vendors) to access ERCOT programmatic interfaces and test code for data submission

• Limitations/advantages of sandbox

– Not an EDS environment

– No data validation, only technical validation of code and format

Nodal Sandbox/Interface Testing Environment (cont’d)

• Limitations/advantages of sandbox (cont’d)– Environment is already available to the market for testing– Developer can use Sandbox to shake-out coding issues– Developer can use Sandbox to resolve security/digital certificate issues

• Allows technical testing prior to pre-EDS and EDS activities• Market Interface document available as Machine-to-Machine Interface (

Summary and Questions

Readiness Summary:• Sandbox/Interface Testing Environment is already available to test

submission of some transactions– No Resource data needed as there is no data validation

• To obtain Resource Registration Data, ERCOT is planning to release draft of Resource data to TPTF by June 1, and plans formal release of registration forms to market by June 28.

– Pre-EDS3 participants will need to provide “bare-bones” list of Resource data

– Mandatory EDS3 will require full completion of Resource Registration Forms (9/1/07)
