WHY STUDENTS SHOULD ATTEND THE CAREER FAIR

over 70 percent of human resources departments indicate that they rely on job fairs to recruit employees. they are not only great events for identifying employment opportunities, but also for:

Students: throughout a career fair, students will discover careers they didn’t know existed, hear professionals talk about work that excites them, and attempt to persuade others that they are the best candidates for specific jobs and internships. one thing will be consistent: those individuals who are most successful bring a sense of purpose and confidence to their conversations with employers at the fair. use these steps to identify your purpose for attending. THINK: · how will you know that attending the career fair was a good use of your time? · What are you hoping to learn at the career fair that would be hard to find out using other methods? · how would you like to be remembered by those employers you meet?

4. What are the most important qualities or characteristics you look for in hiring for the position?

6. What do you look for in an interview?

7. What recommendations would you make for someone who would like to enter that field?

8. Are you aware of related occupations that I would be qualified for with a background/ major in my field?

9. How did you get into the organization/career field? What is your background? How does it relate to the position?

11. Could I set up a time to visit you at the workplace to talk more about what you do?

1. Compose and send follow-up or thank-you letters immediately (within two days if possible).
