The Accountability Experience

Keynote speaker and educator, consultant and author, Linda Galindo teaches audiences how to bring accountability into their organizations to significantly improve performance. Galindo inspires leaders to empower themselves, and those that follow them, to speak the truth, focus on what matters and be fully accountable for the results they produce. A former journalist and radio news personality, Galindo made the shift to consulting, speaking and writing about accountability 20 years ago. Galindo noticed that news stories were about people, especially leaders in business and government, who were not accountable. “I wanted to put the topic of accountability in our national conversation before crises and problems arose,” says Galindo. “I got tired of reporting on situations in which accountability was not present but should have been. Rather than talking about accountability after the fact – often when it was already too late to make an impact – I have made it my life’s work to bring accountability proactively into organizations at the leadership level where it is really needed. The business case to do so is compelling. Real leaders understand The Straight Truth®: ‘Accountability starts with me.’”

In her KEY NOTE sessions – The Accountability Experience, Using personal experience and current challenges Linda will guide attendees to build a business case for accountability. The session will include a case study on creating quality customer service to enhance patient care and identify the importance of common definitions and common language in an accountable culture. Learn the importance of defining success, the power of the “you-to-my” and why “we” can’t get there from here. Identify the three most common accountability excuses and what to do about them, how to hold others accountable. Linda will provide examples of how you must look back to go forward and the key elements. Objectives:• Identify what accountability is and how to build a business case for holding patients and staff accountable• How to achieve and sustain accountability in your practice culture to improve patient care• Identify the 12-point checklist to sustain accountability in your role as a leader or caregiver

Candor – Communication and Optimal ResolutionPresented by: COPIC

In this session – Candor – Communication and Optimal Resolution – the panelists will address what and who may be included in an “open discussion,” and explain that the process requires timely and specific notification(s) to request open discussion/make an offer of compensation and the payment to a patient and also describe that the statute is NOT a payment resulting from a written claim.

Session Objectives:• Understand that Candor is a communication and resolution process for both facilities and health care providers that provides for honest and open provider/patient discussion about a defined unexpected patient outcome.• Understand how the process is beneficial to both the health care provider and the patient.• Learn how Candor paves the way for optimal resolution by inherently mitigating oppositional stress through communication while providing a pathway to preserving the patient/health care provider relationship.

Engaging. Hilarious. Unique. These are just a few of the words that Matt Havens uses to describe himself. Fortunately, others seem to agree. For the past decade, Matt has been at the forefront of generational

issues, working in various leadership roles at a Fortune 50 company in areas as diverse as marketing, employee retention, and management. Because of this expertise, Matt created his new keynote presentation on generational issues in the workplace, Stop Acting Your Age! An Entertaining Keynote to Help You Avoid Generational Warfare. Matt has quickly become a must-have for any event where audiences want to learn something new while laughing at the same time. You’ll soon learn why one of Matt’s clients has called him “both the funniest and most informative speaker I have ever heard in my life.”

If you’ve listened to any other discussion about generational issues with staff or patients, then you’ve undoubtedly been told there are four distinct generations operating side-by-side in today’s working world. You’ve then been told the differences between those four generations, and then you’ve been told (although probably not in these exact words) that you need to just deal with all these different people, because they’re not going away and they’re not going to change how they operate. In his closing keynote Matt Havens, will show you that as it turns out that there really are not four generations. You’ll learn a simpler way of looking at your own generational picture, and you’ll also learn how to understand, recognize, and resolve every generational issue facing today’s workforce in dealing with employees and patients. • Learn to replace the complicated four-generation model with a workable dichotomy between older, more experienced workers and their younger less-experienced counterparts. • Understand the key cultural, technological, and social changes that have conspired to create a disconnect between team members from these two generations when delivering patient care • Inspire a healthier, more robust attitude toward change in your older employees (and your younger ones), which will enable increased patient communication skills
