Fourth Sunday of Advent (Cycle B) A Christmas Message The people who walked in darkness have seen a great

light (Is 9:1).

Jesus Christ, eternal God and Son of the eternal Father, desiring to consecrate the world by his most loving presence, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and when nine months had passed since his conception, was born of the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem of Judah, and was made man: The Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh. With these words from the Roman Martyrology we will proclaim the Solemnity of Christmas, the Nativity of the Lord.

In the midst of the darkness of this year, we hear again the voice of the prophet Isaiah calling us to hope: “For a child is born to us, a son is given us” (Is 9:5): Jesus Christ, the Lord. In Him all our troubles and worries find an answer. In Him we can look to the future with confidence. In Him we find our peace.

May you rejoice with family and friends in the love of our God. With our prayers we wish you a blessed Christmas, full of the blessings of the Christ Child!

Un mensaje de Navidad El pueblo que caminaba en tinieblas vio una gran luz

(Is 9,1).

Jesucristo, eterno Dios, e Hijo del eterno Padre, queriendo consagrar el mundo con su misericordiosísimo advenimiento, concebido del Espíritu Santo, y pasados nueve meses después de su concepción, nace en Belén de Judá, de la Virgen María, hecho Hombre. La Natividad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, según la carne. Con estas palabras del Martirologio Romano proclamamos la Solemnidad de la Navidad, la Natividad del Señor.

En medio de la oscuridad que hemos experimentado este año, escuchamos de nuevo la voz del profeta Isaías llamándonos a la esperanza: “Porque un niño nos ha nacido, un hijo se nos ha dado” (Is 9,5): Jesucristo, el Señor. En Él encuentran respuesta todos nuestros problemas y preocupaciones. En Él podemos mirar con confianza hacia el futuro. En Él está nuestra paz.

Les deseo que se alegren en el amor de nuestro Dios en compañía de sus familiares y amigos. A este deseo se une nuestra oración para que tengan una Navidad bendecida y llena de gracias del Niño Dios.

¡Feliz Navidad! Que Dios los bendiga.

The Day of Our Salvation

URBI ET ORBI MESSAGE OF THE HOLY FATHER FRANCIS

DECEMBER 25, 2015

Christ is born for us, let us rejoice in the day of our salvation!

Let us open our hearts to receive the grace of this day, which is Christ himself. Jesus is the radiant “day” which has dawned on the horizon of humanity. A day of mercy, in which God our Father has revealed his great tenderness to the entire world.

On this day, Jesus, the Savior is born of the Virgin Mary. The Crib makes us see the “sign” which God has given us: “a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger” (Lk 2:12). Like the shepherds of Bethlehem, may we too set out to see this sign, this event which is renewed yearly in the Church. Christmas is an event which is renewed in every family, parish and community which receives the love of God made incarnate in Jesus Christ. Like Mary, the Church shows to everyone the “sign” of God: the Child whom she bore in her womb and to whom she gave birth, yet who is the Son of the Most High, since he “is of the Holy Spirit” (Mt 1:20). He is truly the Savior, for he is the Lamb of God who takes upon himself the sin of the world (cf. Jn 1:29). With the shepherds, let us bow down before the Lamb, let us worship God’s goodness made flesh, and let us allow tears of repentance to fill our eyes and cleanse our hearts.

Where God is born, mercy flourishes. Mercy is the most precious gift which God gives us,… that tender love of our heavenly Father for each of us. May the Lord enable [us] to experience his merciful love, which heals wounds and triumphs over evil.

Today, then, let us together rejoice in the day of our salvation. As we contemplate the Crib, let us gaze on the open arms of Jesus, which show us the merciful embrace of God, as we hear the cries of the Child who whispers to us: “for my brethren and companions’ sake, I will say: Peace be within you” (Ps 121[122]:8).

El día de nuestra salvación MENSAJE “URBI ET ORBI” DEL SANTO PADRE FRANCISCO, 25 DE DICIEMBRE, 2015

Cristo nos ha nacido, exultemos en el día de nuestra salvación.

Abramos nuestros corazones para recibir la gracia de este día, que es Él mismo: Jesús es el «día» luminoso que surgió en el horizonte de la humanidad. El día de la misericordia, en el cual Dios Padre ha revelado a la humanidad su inmensa ternura.

En este día, ha nacido de la Virgen María Jesús, el Salvador. El pesebre nos muestra la «señal» que Dios nos ha dado: «un niño recién nacido envuelto en pañales y acostado en un pesebre» (Lc 2,12). Como los pastores de Belén, también nosotros vamos a ver esta señal, este acontecimiento que cada año se renueva en la Iglesia. La Navidad es un acontecimiento que se renueva en cada familia, en cada parroquia, en cada comunidad que acoge el amor de Dios encarnado en Jesucristo. Como María, la Iglesia muestra a todos la «señal» de Dios: el niño que ella ha llevado en su seno y ha dado a luz, pero que es el Hijo del Altísimo, porque «proviene del Espíritu Santo» (Mt 1,20). Por eso es el Salvador, porque es el Cordero de Dios que toma sobre sí el pecado del mundo (cf. Jn 1,29). Junto a los pastores, postrémonos ante el Cordero, adoremos la Bondad de Dios hecha carne, y dejemos que las lágrimas del arrepentimiento llenen nuestros ojos y laven nuestro corazón.

Donde nace Dios, florece la misericordia. Este es el don más precioso que Dios nos da. Que el Señor nos conceda (…) la experiencia de su amor misericordioso que sana las heridas y vence el mal.

Y de este modo, hoy todos juntos exultemos en el día de nuestra salvación. Contemplando el portal de Belén, fijemos la mirada en los brazos de Jesús que nos muestran el abrazo misericordioso de Dios, mientras escuchamos el gemido del Niño que nos susurra: «Por mis hermanos y compañeros voy a decir: “La paz contigo”» (Sal 121 [122],8).

This year we have added a Family Mass at 3:30 pm as well as the usual 5:30 pm on Christmas Eve. The 5:30 pm Mass will be live streamed. Please sign up as for Sunday Mass. Due to the county curfew, the annual Christmas Eve concert will be held on December 24 at 9 pm. Midnight Mass will be celebrated at 10 pm. On Christmas Day Masses will be at 10:30 am and 5:30 pm in English and at 12:30 pm in Spanish. A Spanish Mass at 7 pm on Christmas Day has been added this year. Only the first two will be live streamed. Make sure to sign up as for Sunday Mass. Debido al toque de queda, el concierto anual de Nochebuena se celebrará a las 9 pm del 24 de diciembre. La misa de medianoche será a las 10 pm. Las misas del día de Navidad serán a las 10:30 am y 5:30 pm en inglés y a las 12:30 pm en español. Masses on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2021, will follow the Christmas Day schedule: 10:30 am and 5:30 pm in English and at 12:30 pm in Spanish. There will not be a 7 pm Mass on New Year’s Day. The English morning Mass and the Spanish Mass will be live streamed as usual. Please sign up as you do for Sunday Mass. Las misas del día de Año Nuevo, 1 de enero de 2021, seguirán el horario del día de Navidad: 10:30 am y 5:30 pm en inglés y 12:30 pm en español. No habrá misa a las 7 PM el día de Año Nuevo. With a new apostolic letter, Pope Francis reflects on St. Joseph as patron of the universal Church, on this 150th anniversary of Pius IX giving him this title. To celebrate the anniversary, Pope Francis has proclaimed a special “Year of St Joseph,” running through December 8, 2021. Special indulgences will be granted, particularly on the days dedicated to the saint, such as March 19 and May 1, and for the sick and elderly in the context of the current pandemic.
