This magazine, as the name probably made quite obvious, will be re-leased everyday - Monday to Friday. Its purpose will be to relay to you the highlights of the days’ news in music and in film. We will endeavour to publish an issue every evening.

The Angle Daily is an interactive magazine. That means that unlike a lot of other publications that just talk about music and video, we can actually show them to you and include them on the page itself. The majority of the images inside are clickable- doing so could allow you to play a video, listen to a song or just visit a website. The article will probably tell you what to expect.

We’re currently looking for unsigned bands and artists to feature in this magazine. To have a news piece written about something you have com-ing up- be it a new record, a massive tour, something you’ve released that you want streamed, whatever- or to have something reviewed, just send an email.

NEWS: OTHER LIVES ANNOUNCE WINNER OF BEAT PRIMAL VIDEO CONTESTSelf-proclaimed writers of haphazard classical music, Other Lives have re-vealed the winner of their music video contest, held via Genero. The winner was Yasutaka Fukuda, who created an elegant animation for the single.

Other Lives released a statement about the winning submission, in which they said: ‘We really felt the video captured the song on a number of levels visually. The movement, fluidity and the way Yasutaka paced what at first appears as a very simple concept becomes a more precise, intricate and complicated view-point.’ You can watch the video now via the image above, and details of the band’s upcoming tour, due to begin 9th October, have also been released. NEWS: DRUG CHURCH RELEASE NEW MUSIC VIDEOAlbany five-piece Drug Church, who jokingly describe their sound as being like the one “garbage makes when thrown off a roof into the dumpster your dickhead boss rented for your underpaying contractor gig”, have unveiled the new music video for their track Bagged.

Bagged is taken from their forthcoming album Hit Your Head, which is due to be released on October 30th via No Sleep Records. Check out the video via the image. AN

NEWS: fake the attack release debut albumFake The Attack recently released their debut album, Stranger Times. The eleven track EP is a follow up album to their 2011 album, You Call This Freedom. They toured the UK earlier this year in May and will no doubt be gearing up for the road again following their latest release. Their VEVO channel gives you access to the official videos of some songs from the new album, and you can check out one of those via the image above. You can also grab it on iTunes and listen to it on their Soundcloud.

Guitarist, Callum Heffy had a few words on the album: “The album title is a representation of what it was like to make this album, and the story of our lives surrounding its creation…They were strange and straining times, but I do feel that the trials and tribulations we encountered personally and on a collective level really helped to mould the songs and the air of the album. I feel it really has a profound attitude.”

“Our music has changed as we have changed… This album is about coming of age and realising that the world, as beautiful as it is, isn’t as beautiful as you once thought. But you have to embrace that change whilst not letting go of what matters.” CM

ALBUM REVIEW: ADAM AND THE PLASTIC-FOXHOLESAdam And The Plastic is a five-piece band from Orlando, Florida. Foxholes is their second full-length release, at just under 40 minutes long.

Foxholes is mostly comprised of your regular, run-of-the-mill bedroom rock. Al-though it’s plenty enjoyable, it’s not reinventing the wheel or anything. But that’s okay. I don’t think that’s what Adam And The Plastic had in mind. This album starts out with a song called The Party that sounds reminiscent of Godspeed! You Black Emperor’s early work. There’s a simple guitar riff that repeats itself for the duration of the song, dragging other elements of the song with it. Other instrumentation slowly begins to appear, such as a playful melody on a lead guitar, drums that have been stripped down to bare necessities, as well as a sample of what sounds like a bunch of people huddled in a room, discussing who-knows-what. This is a good representation of what this album sounds like. Everything blends together, and it can be hard to pick out one thing you like, but all together, it’s really well made and it’s a very pleasant experience.

Foxholes, although it’s catchy and melodic and a very peaceful-sounding album, it is not without its flaws. For one thing, the vocals on this album are sometimes too hushed. They can be hard to understand. However, this doesn’t take very much away from the album. This album never had anything to say to begin with. Yes, people are talking, but you’re not supposed to analyze what they’re saying. It’s just some nice company. A good example of this is the song To The Bottom. It sounds fun, catchy, whimsical, like the background music for a weekend pool party. It’s just nice to have some musical accompaniment, and Adam And The Plastic is happy to provide it.

The name of the band might seem weird to casual passersby. No-one in the band is named Adam, and who or what is ‘the plastic’ they’re referring to? Well, once you listen to Foxholes, you’ll find out what ‘the plastic’ is. It’s referring to the kind of music the band is creating. If one were to try and dig deeper to find some sort of meaning in their music, they’re probably not going to find anything. It’s fake, in the sense that it’s just some nice music to listen to. It doesn’t have much of a message, it’s not supposed to get you riled up, it’s just there. And that’s not a bad thing at all. FB

NEWS: rihanna announc-es albumShe’s been teasing her eight album for months now, but last night Rihanna official-ly launched her album at an exclusive gallery

party in LA.

The album’s title was revealed to be Anti by a written explanation on the entry way wall. “In her collaboration with Roy Nachum, Rihanna has changed the history of album art. By continuing to follow her own instincts, her work strives to make an impact by doing the very antithesis of what the public expects,” it read. Inside the event braille art pieces were hung on the walls, which fans enjoyed while being blindfolded with red sashes they were given as they entered the room.

Rihanna couldn’t be arsed to attend the whole event, instead arriving mid-way through to speak about the album and her collaboration with Nachum. “It started with a random conversation in the studio at 4am when a friend brought up the artwork of Nachum,” Rihanna told onlookers, “and when we met, he just asked me what would make me a happy girl.” The artwork is a childhood photo of Rihanna. No release date has been given yet. AN

NEWS: former goatlord guitarist involved in murder According to a report from Las Ve-gas Review Journal, ex-Goatlord guitarist Joe Frankulin murdered a mother and son on Friday, October 2nd, before committing suicide.

Frankulin reportedly shot Jennifer Bagley Donoso inside her home sometime around 7am. Three of Donoso’s children were inside the house at the time. Following the initial shooting her daughter ran to a neighbour’s house for help.

Sadly though, once police arrived they discovered that one of the children was actually missing. Frankulin es-caped with the child to his own home where, tragically, police later found the pair dead in a garage.

At the time of the initial report, a motive was still being determined. It’s not “what happened, but why,” Metro homicide Lt. Dan McGrath said. AN

NEWS: alexisonfire to release live albumFollowing a reunion this year for a series of festival appearances, Alexisonfire have released of an upcoming live album.

You can call it generosity, or you can call it cashing in, either way you can pre-order the album through the Dine Alone Records website. AN

NEWS: kill hannah announce final showsKill Hannah have amicably decid-ed to go their separate ways to focus on other musical endeavours following a twenty-year career. As a send-off the band are playing a handful of final appearances, in-cluding three performances here in the UK.

“Twenty years. It feels surreal to ac-knowledge, but that’s how long it’s been since music was first ever released under the name Kill Hannah,” says founder and frontman Mat Devine. “We’re still thick as thieves, and have nothing but pride for what we’ve accomplished, but we feel it’s just time to celebrate the end instead of letting it fade away. Since then we’ve had an unbelievable adventure. We’ve been fortunate enough to live out the dreams we’ve had since childhood; the chance to create music that matters to other people the way our favorite bands matter to us; a chance to be a proud part of the story of Chicago music- and to reach beyond, to forge connections with inspiring people around the world.” The band are ending with a pair of hometown shows. “We all wanted to play Metro one more time. It’s been our home forever, having played there more than any band in history – 42 times!”. They are playing the following UK dates in December.

news: the terminator franchise isnt dead yetTerminator: Genisys grossed just $90 million at the domestic box office and was torn to pieces by critics. Such a sad state of affairs should surely spell the end of the franchise, but according to producer Dana Goldberg that isn’t the case.

“I wouldn’t say on hold, so much as re-adjusting,” said Goldberg when asked by The Wrap about the future of the series. “Happily, we live in the world where the domestic number had a level of importance 10 or 15 years ago — I’m not saying it’s not important, it is — but we have to play to a worldwide market. In terms of Terminator [Genisys], the worldwide market paid attention, but we’re not taking the domestic number lightly.”

The film’s global haul was a more acceptable $350 million. “[We will use] data and research to do a worldwide study and really talk to audiences about what they loved,” continues Goldberg. “And what maybe didn’t work for them, so that the next turn we take with the franchise is the right one.” AN

NEWS: trailer released for mocking-jay part 2

The final trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 is now online, seeing Katniss leading the districts in open rebellion against the Capitol and tyrannical President Snow.

The previous film was, to put it mildly, shockingly boring. But this being the cli-max, we can surely expect some excitement this time around. “Turn your weap-ons to the Capitol,” rouses Katniss. “Turn your weapons to Snow.”

Directed by Francis Lawrence and co-starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcher-son and Liam Hemsworth, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 opens in the UK and US November 20th 2015. Watch the trailer via the image above. AN

NEWS: daniel craig talks the future of james bondDespite contractual obligations, there’s speculation as to wheth-er Daniel Craig will be returning for another James bond film after Spectre. The star previously sug-gested that he’d play the role as long as his body physically allowed him to, but a recent interview with Time Out proves he’s clearly changed his mind.

“Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists,” says Craig when asked about returning for another Bond film. “No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on. I haven’t given it any thought. For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it. I don’t know what the next step is. I’ve no idea. Not because I’m trying to be cagey. Who the fuck knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”

Those words may be in haste, after all Craig has just finished a very gruelling shoot and is smack bang in the middle of a draining press tour. But what of the next actor to play Bond? “Look, I don’t give a fuck,” comes the reply. “Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we’ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that’s all. You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don’t be shit…Go for it. Embrace it. Some cliched line like that. But no, just make sure you’re great. You’ve got to push yourself as far as you can. It’s worth it, it’s James Bond.”Spectre opens iOctober 26th 2015. AN

NEWS: benicio del toro will return for guardians of the galaxy 2Zoe Saldana has revealed that James Gunn is getting the whole cast back together for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, with Bene-cio del Toro set to return as the Collector.

The Star Trek actress posted a video on her husband’s Facebook profile that sung the praises of del Toro’s performance, signing it off with “See you on Guardians!”

Will Howard The Duck be making an ap-pearance as referenced at the end of the first movie? We’ll find out when Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2 opens in the UK April 28th 2017. AN

news: LATEST TRAILER OUT FOR FINAL PARANOR-MAL ACTIVITYThe franchise has more than once gone back and forth in time to explore the earlier encounters that led to what plagued the couple in the original mov-ie, and it’s set to go right back to the beginning in Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.

Ryan, Emily, their daughter Leila, and Ryan’s younger brother Mike have just moved from New York to Palo Alto, so that video game designer Ryan can start his new job. The family are a mixed bag of character types, with a new -agey mother, big kid dad and tom-boy daughter. This outing aims to explore how everything began.

Directed by Gregory Plotkin and adapted from a script by Jason Pagan, Andrew Deutschman, Adam Robitel and Gavin Heffernan, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension opens October 23rd. AN

news: will 28 days later happen? When 28 Weeks Later opened in 2007, fans and critics pondered whether or not another sequel would follow, as the end of the movie more than left things open for another outing. Danny Boyle, producer Andrew McDonald, and writer Alex Garland have all stated that 28 Months Later is a possibili-ty, it just isn’t that high on anyone’s list.

Boyle originally said that if he were to return it would be as an executive producer like on 28 Weeks Later, but he seems to have changed his tune about returning as a director. “I’ve got no problem [with directing],” he told The Playlist. “It’s the usual thing: it’s not about whether people think it’s a good idea that you’re directing. It’s whether you respond to the script or not. It’s just like on [‘Steve Jobs’]. I got the script and I went, ‘That was amazing. I hope I can add to that somehow and make it be even better than just the experience of reading it.’”

Writer Alex Garland has said that the trio talked about a premise for a third film during preliminary development on Trainspotting 2, with Boyle saying that that idea has grown even further with Andrew McDonald’s involvement. “It’s not quite ready to go, but there’s been a bit of work done on that. It’s in a process at the moment, and I wouldn’t have any inhibition about being involved in it at all. It’s amazing what has happened to the zombie genre since we made [the original 28 Days Later]. There’s Walking Dead. I saw this very funny trailer the other day for the Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. A very funny trailer. It appears to be everywhere.” AN

film review: the martianIf you like the idea of watching an isolated Matt Damon wander around a deso-late planet for two and half hours, then this is the film for you. However, if you’re like me and don’t have that in your ‘list of what makes films good’, then you will probably get quite bored, like me.

From the trailers and general overview of The Martian, we know that the film is about a man who is stuck on Mars for a long time. Spoiler alert! It really isn’t much more than that. Like a lot of books that have been made into films, it seems that the action and ideas are really much more suited for the written medium. You only see the character’s thoughts and feelings through their actions in film, but books allow the character’s mind to speak to you directly. I think that would work better for a guy who’s alone on Mars.

Matt Damon’s character, Mark Watney, constantly reels off jokes, which are sub-par. They feel far too geared towards knowing there’s a cinema audience sitting in front of them. Obviously, all films know that there’s an audience watching them (you would hope), but this one doesn’t do well in hiding the fact. Mark Watney reels off pop culture references and jokes about his situation just to keep you entertained, rather than himself. Obviously it’s meant to show how bright his attitude is in the face of danger, but it would be better if he were actually funny.

Not only that, but the film treats you like a fool. There were far too many mo-ments where complicated mathematics and space ship trajectories were ex-plained through the use of condiments and general stationary. I know I’m not a rocket scientist, but save me the floating staplers and whooshing noises, Ridley.

Ok, so there are some good elements to this film. The cinematography is stun-ning and if you want to see top budget renditions of the orange, endless and lifeless Mars, then you won’t be disappointed. Much of the film is spent overlook-ing the vast orange terrains with a classically sci-fi score from Harry Gregson-Wil-liams… and a lot of 70’s disco music (Guardians of the Galaxy appears to have started a trend). Another part, which I appreciated, was that there was no love interest! Finally Hollywood, you break one rule of your rigid film structure!

Those two points however, don’t make up for the boredom and sheer length of the film. But if you’re a fan of Matt Damon, then I’m sure you’ll find some joy in the dusty desert of Mars. CM

HOWLS-REST WELL

the lucid experiment- she's my melody

The song lingers over the pensive thoughts in its lyrics before reaching a new level of energy in the chorus, seething in a apparent frustration at the world’s current state of affairs. You can only applaud the worldly scope of the subject matter and how concise the thoughts and emotion behind it are. This band know what their message is and just how they want to communicate it.

wolf like child-wars

The song starts with a simple guitar rift that is carried on through much of the song, and immediately an asso-ciation with bands like Dire Straits is created. It’s very easy to get into the groove of the track and special credit has to be given to the extremely dynamic bassline that underscores majority of the song. Towards the mid-dle and end it morphs from a saharan sunset roadtrip track to an increasingly psy-chedelic experience, before ending with a comfortable descent back from outer space.

Rest Well was released early, as a little teaser of what the band had to offer. Packed with intense depth and emotion that builds ten-sion, the track takes head banging to a whole new level.
