I had the privilege of attending SESA August 16th – August 18th inPigeon Forge, Tennessee where I was honored to be the Installing Marshallwhen Morocco’s Past Potentate, Luke Baker, was installed as President.

August 20th – August 24th was the Potentate’s cruise to Cuba. A greattime was had by all and we even managed to have some fun at the slots and raise some money forthe Patient Transportation Fund.

The Ocala Rodeo was held on Friday and Saturday, August 31st – September 1st. Manyfrom Morocco came down to Ocala to enjoy the rodeo and the reception held at the Hilton.

Many thanks to all who helped sell CD’s on September 2nd. Even though most of us gotsoaking wet, we managed to raise over $12,000 for the Tampa Hospital.

Thanks to everyone who came out for our Fall FUN-raiser. Thanks to Franklin who played some great dancing music for us.The kids had a great time watching movies and doing some crafts.

The Divan had a wonderful official visit at the St. Augustine Shrine Club on September 11th. The food and fellowship weregreat.

Hahira is right around the corner, the first weekend in October. We always have a great time. See Noble Ken Sowers if youneed more information.

There will be a meeting at the October Stated Session on October 10th. Please make sure you call and make yourreservations.

The Divan will be traveling down to Ocala for an Official Visit on October 20th. As some of you know we had a mishap in the

concessions stand which is causing us to do a littleremodeling. All repairs should be finished in the verynear future.

Yours in the Faith

I hope everyone had a great summer. We’ve certainly had lots of fun, especiallywith everyone on the Cuba cruise. We met several otherpassengers on the cruise who shared their stories about howShriner’s Hospitals have helped their family members. It’salways good to hear about how our hospitals positivelychange lives.

With your help our Patient Transportation Fund isgetting back on track so that we will have enough moneyto pay for our patients to receive care. Thank you foryour contributions to this very important fund.

It’s amazing what we can do when we work together. The last few months of the year tend to be very busy for

everyone. We still need to make time for each other.Let’s remember to lift each other up in times of need, pray for each other, our

country, our patients, and our military every day.

Whereas: Imperial Shrine Law requires that a Temple meet at least quarterly, and

Whereas: Morocco Shriner’s leadership has tested this method of meetingrequirements over the past several years by having Stated Meetings on alimited basis yet complying with the requirements of Shrine Law, and

Whereas: there has been a drastic reduction in involvement with the ShrineCenter by the Nobility of Morocco Shriners since the limited Stated Meetingprovision has been enacted, and

Whereas: the Nobility of Morocco Shriners desire to engage in thediscussion of business concerning the Shrine Center and its future on a regularbasis and conducting a business meeting quarterly makes this interactiondifficult, and

Whereas, there is a need for transparency in all business matters thatimpact the Nobility, the operations of the Shrine Center, and theencouragement of leadership development among the Nobility; Now,therefore be it resolved, that the following amendment to Article 3 of theMorocco Shriners By-Laws be enacted:

3.1 Stated Meeting(a) The stated meetings of this temple shall be held at least once each

calendar quarter in the months of January, March, May, June, September,October, and December, the hour and place to be specified by the Potentateat the location of the Temple. Not less than one weeks’ notice shall be givento each member.

(b) December Meeting. (NO CHANGE)(c) Annual Meeting. (NO CHANGE)(d) Other Stated Meetings. (NO CHANGE)

The order of business may be changed or suspended whenever it is in the bestinterest of the temple upon the unanimous approval of the Nobility presentand voting.

As Editor for the Moroccan, it is my responsibility to edit information sent tome. Sometimes that means shortening articles. I try to do this in a way as to notcompromise the information. Out dated information is sometimes removed.

Since we now have a smaller newspaper and only publish 6 times a year we haveless space for information so it is impossible to include everything, especially photos.

I appreciate your understanding in this matter. Please do not stop sending articlesit is important for others to know what you are doing or planning. Many Clubs,Associations, and Units no longer send information, I would like to encourage youto assign someone to be responsible for that and make it a priority for yourorganization. Welcome to the Beaches!

CLAY COUNTY

It’s Chili Cookoff Time!

ST. AUGUSTINE

Final Quarter

By Don WilliamsFollowing our Summer break, the

Beaches Shrine Club resumed itsactivities.

We have formed a HospitalityAssociation within the Beaches ShrineClub. Its primary purpose is to welcomepeople to any and all Shrine functions atMorocco.

To support the Annual JacksonvilleQuiltfest, Nobles and Ladies attendedthe event. The Quiltfest conducts aSilent Auction. In the past, the proceedsof the Silent Auction have financiallybenefited both Shriners Hospitals forChildren and Morocco’s PatientTransportation. In the past five (5) years, this financial support has brought in

slightly less than $20,000.00. Tocontinue this financial support, themembers of the Beaches Shrine Clubhave assisted the Quiltfest by havingmembers at the Silent Auction table andother areas of the event.

One of the main points of theSeptember meeting of the Club was tocelebrate the successes of our SpringHospital News Distribution. A check for$3,755.57 was presented to ourPotentate, Illustrious Sir Hall Mix. Withthe assistance of the Potentate and othermembers of our Divan, recognition wasgiven to three (3) stores that allowed usto solicit donations from their customersfor our Hospitals for Children.

In addition to this, the Nobles of theClub accepted and approved the petitionof ten (10) Nobles who wanted to jointhe Beaches Shrine Club.

At the request of the Junior GrandWarden, Noble RW Jeff Foster, theHonor Guard presented the flags at hisHomecoming.

On October 20, we will conduct ourFall Hospitals News Distribution. We willhave the same two (2) Publix Stores andthe Ace Hardware Store off Atlantic. Tofacilitate the travel of our members inClay County, we have added a fourthStatic location at the Publix Store offBlanding and Loch Rane. The City ofJacksonville has again authorized ourpresence at the intersection of Atlanticand Hodges to solicit donations frompeople who drive through that busyintersection.

If you enjoy having fun with otherNobles and Ladies, supporting MoroccoShrine Center, and supporting ShrinersHospitals for Children, you shouldconsider joining the Beaches ShrineCenter. We meet on the third Friday ofevery month upstairs in the ActivityBuilding. If you have any questions aboutthe Beaches Shrine Club, ask someone.

We had a visit from our Potentateand his Cadre of Officers at ourSeptember meeting. We had a goodturn out and an excellent meal of PrimeRib, Baked Potato and Salad preparedby our Kitchen Staff. Well Done! Afterthe meeting Potentate Mix volunteeredto repair our Clubhouse roof. Thanks

This year has slipped away and weare entering the final quarter of theyear. This is when we have to evaluateour first three quarters to see how wemeasured up to our long term goals.

The hard working Nobles of the St.Augustine Shrine Club have workeddiligently to have a very good year. Wehave had many successful events so farthis year and we are looking forward tomany more. We had a very successfulLabor Day weekend with a fried chickenNobles and ladies, the Clay County

Shrine Club is at it again. At the end ofSeptember Boy Scout pack 389 will beserving breakfast at the club to help withcamping supplies. Their breakfast willbe $6.00 a plate and will be served 8amto 12pm on the 29th of September.Your support is always welcomed anappreciated.

We are also planning a Halloweenparty for the second Saturday in October(13th). Yes we have moved our dinnerfor that month to the second SaturdayOct 13th, so our members can go enjoythe weekend at Hahira, Georgia.Costumes are optional but they areencouraged. There will be a costumecontest so start thinking about it now soyou can win. We will be having a casualdinner of hamburgers and hot dogs soplease bring sides to compliment. Wewill still be doing our ladies and 50/50drawings that evening as well.

Please don’t forget about October20, our chili cook off. Chris Newton willbe running this fundraiser in memory ofButterbean and his best chili. We areplanning on having this be an annualevent so get those chili pots cooking andbring on the HEAT. There will be moreinformation to follow so check youremail....

dinner night and our annual Labor Dayfish fry. This takes a lot of man powerto run these events and we have hadmany Nobles step up and work hard tomake successful events happen, butthere is always room for more helpers.

There are four steps toaccomplishment: 1. Plan Purposefully 2.Prepare Prayerfully 3. ProceedPositively 4. Pursue Persistently.

I understand the the Naughty oleelves of the NOEL will be having theirChristmas Party at our Clubhouse toraise money for the Tampa ShrineHospital for Children. This has been agreat event in the past and we welcomethe return after a one year layoff. Wehope that many Shriner’s will attend. Two years ago we raised around$9,000 for the Hospital
