Jalou Media Group and GEM present : L’OFFICIEL FUND, a US $50 million investment fund which aims to promote emerging brands and develop their engagement with luxury lifestyle consumers.

Working with emerging brands that understand the value of targeted marketing, but do not have the capital to access premium advertising channels, the Fund will provide brands with investment capital for marketing initiatives. Supplementing this, L’Officiel will provide the selected brands with privileged access to L’Officiel’s global network of digital and print publishing assets—with a presence today in 29 countries—in addition to preferred rates with L’Officiel’s print and digital advertising campaigns, and value-added marketing services (including branded content, video production, social media activation, event creation, and experiential marketing, among other services).

INVESTMENT TEAM

Chris BrownChristopher Brown was the founder of Global Emerging Markets. Today, through GEM Investments America LLC, he oversees the New York office and manages private placements on a global basis for The GEM Group. He was on the Board of Directors of Bahrain-based VC Bank and co-sponsor of the GEM MENA Fund. In addition, he was the Chairman of the CITIC-GEM Fund, a non-voting General Partner in Kinderhook Industries and on the Board of Directors of the Global Leadership Foundation. He began his career with Drexel Burnham Lambert in Sales & Trading in 1985. He later joined Smith Barney as an Investment Advisor from 1986 to 1988 and worked for Shearson Lehman Brothers from 1988 to 1993. Mr. Brown attended UCLA. He is the chairman of L’Officiel USA.

Anthony RomanoManaging Director at L’Officiel Fund, and Board Member of L’Officiel USA. Anthony has spent over a decade as a private equity and principal investor specializing in cross-border opportunities, and has transacted across 6 continents in 20+ countries. Previously, Mr. Romano was President for a US $1B NYSE company Media Company, Eros International; a Fund Manager for a multibillion dollar alternative investment group, GEM Group; an Investment Professional for the world’s largest multi-lateral investment organization, The International Finance Corporation;and an Investment Analyst for two top-tier investment banks, Citigroup and Merrill Lynch.

Marlyn GamezInvestment Professional at L’Officiel Fund, responsible for investment analysis and due diligence on fund opportunities. She has over five years experience in the financial industry, including asset management, private equity and credit analysis. Ms. Gamez holds a B.A. in Economics from Columbia University, and an MBA from New York University.

Marie-José JalouAfter studying economics as well asdesign and advertising at the Académie Charpentier in Paris, Marie-José joined L’Officiel in 1970. More discreet than most fashion editors, she detects from her front-row seat the trends and designers that will shape the fashions of tomorrow, from Thierry Mugler and Claude Montana to, much later, Tom Ford. She was the first to meet with Armani and Versace in Italy, and Donna Karan and Ralph Lauren in the US, and bring them to French readers in the pages of L’Officiel. In 1980, she became editor-in-chief of L’Officiel and set about launching new group titles, notably Jalouse and L’Optimum. Upon the death of her brother in 2003, Marie-José took the reins of the family business.

Maria Cecilia AndrettaDeputy Chief Executive Officer of L’Officiel since 2015, she managed the global expansion and digital strategy for the group. Between 2005 and 2015 she has covered different management roles in companies as Pixmania.com, Axelero and Aufeminin Group. In 2011, she founded her own start up, Privategriffe.com, the first C2C fashion marketplace in Italy.Since 2011 she is also actively involved with the NGO Oxfam.

Benjamin EymèreChief Executive Officer of L’Officiel, where he has overseen the global expansion of L’Officiel that today encompasses 32 countries across the globe, including China, Russia, India, Brazil , and Italy. Mr Eymere holds a LLM degree in corporate finance in the premiere law school of France University of Panthéon Assas and a MNA expertise degree from New York University.
