Please note that our office will purge the names on our sick list every quarter.

The number of priests per Catholic has declined over the past 40 years. This makes it more difficult for individual parishioners to establish a close relationship with any one particular priest. Furthermore, priests are no longer the only ones who offer pastoral care to our people. Yet without a priest, no parish is able to be a Eucharistic community. It is important to reaffirm the importance of the priesthood of Jesus Christ

Almighty ever-living God, Who, when Christ had been baptized in the River

Jordan and as the Holy Spirit descended upon Him, solemnly declared Him Your beloved Son, grant that Your children by adoption, reborn of water and the Holy

Spirit, may always be well pleasing to You.

Our Faith … Our Family …

Our Future Legacy … Next weekend will be our first second collection to meet our goal of $412,176 for our debt reduction fund. In December we introduced the idea to offer our parish family to assist if they could in helping to reduce this debt as quick as possible. After completion of our church renovations we incurred this debt from our new parking lot project, purchasing the Williams house for our office and property adjacent to the cemetery. Thank you for your generosity in this matter if you can.

The Case for Jesus - Book

DR. BRANT PITRE

In The Case for Jesus, Dr. Brant Pitre, the bestsel-

ling author of Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eu-

charist, goes back to the sources—the biblical and

historical evidence for Christ—in order to answer

several key questions, including:

• Were the four Gospels really anonymous?

• Are the Gospels folklore? Or are they biographies?

• What about the so-called “Lost Gospels,” such as “Q” and the Gos-

pel of Thomas?

• Did Jesus claim to be God?

• Why was Jesus crucified?

• What is the evidence for the Resurrection?

As The Case for Jesus will show, recent discoveries in New Testament

scholarship, as well as neglected evidence from ancient manuscripts and

the early church fathers, together have the potential to pull the rug out

from under a century of skepticism toward the traditional Gospels.

Above all, Pitre shows how the divine claims of Jesus of Nazareth can

only be understood by putting them in their ancient Jewish context.
