EDITORIAL Hello readers,
The summer is over and I thought little would be
happening on the events side during the cold
autumn and winter months, but I have to say I am
impressed. Firework displays are on all over Kent,
(see page 11) lots of Christmas fairs & markets so
don’t miss any for those early bargains, you will
find these on page 15.
To cover Christmas and the New year in one, next
month we are doing a double edition covering
December and January so please get your events in
early for both months.
After enquiries from readers asking me why their
establishment isn’t listed, I would like to explain; all
events, family days out, leisure centres, cinemas,
etc, are all listed for free. We source our information
from research (a lot of hard work!), 3rd parties,
emails and phone calls from people wishing to add
their event. So if yours isn’t listed please do not
take offence, just email or phone us and we will list
it for you in the next edition. Happy Bonfire Night!
Thanks, The Editors, Natalia Corbella & Kevin Norris

BONFIRE NIGHT SPECIALBONFIRE NIGHT SPECIALBONFIRE NIGHT SPECIALBONFIRE NIGHT SPECIAL
1. The 5th of November is a night we all know as “Bonfire Night” but did
you know it is also called “Guy Fawkes Night”?
2. On November the 5th 1605, after years of planning, Guy Fawkes and a group of men wanted to blow up the
Houses of Parliament in London, where King James I was going to parliament for a ceremony, but before they could carry out the explosion they were caught red
handed with the explosives
3. Their plan came to be known as “The Gunpowder plot”
Their reasons for wanting to kill were mainly down to religion
and power
4. Guy Fawkes was captured and imprisoned in the tower of
London. He and most of the gang were
executed
5. After that, Londoners lit bonfires in the streets to
celebrate the fact that their king was safe and alive
6. These bonfires became a tradition, and started to spread
across the country. To this day we still celebrate what
we now know as Bonfire Night, 400 years later
WHY DO WE CELEBRATE BONFIRE NIGHT?
