John Brown was a native of Ulster county and lived with the "Poor Palatines" of which his parents and grandparents were pioneer emigrants. His impressions of life at West Camp among the pioneers are valuable first hand knowledge of conditions at that time. John Brown became an honored resident of Sehoharie. Was a judge of the Court of Common Fleas and a distinguished citizen. His story of Old Schoharie is still regarded as the best source material of that region.
