2019 Ford F-150 Specs & Features F-150 Engine SpecsThe 2019 Ford F-150 offers a wide array of engine options for drivers to choose from. Depending on the level of power and abilities that you’re looking for with your truck, you’ll want to carefully review the respective engines’ performances, as well as the limitations and capacities when it comes to towing significant loads or carrying a hefty payload. Each engine offers some impressive capabilities with the horsepower and torque output, as well as its maximum towing and payload capacities.

The engines come paired with an Electronic 6-speed Transmission with Tow/Haul and Sport Modes. The optional 10-speed Transmission offers Tow/Haul, Snow/Wet, EcoSelect, and Sport Modes for drivers to help them customize the performance to their liking, whether they’re traversing over rough terrain, hauling some heavy materials, or even reducing the power to boost the vehicle’s fuel efficiency.

The F-150 offers six impressive engines to choose from. The truck comes standard with a 3.3L V6 engine and offers the option to upgrade to the 2.7L EcoBoost® V6, the 5.0L V8, the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6, or the diesel 3.0L Power Stroke® V6. The High-Output 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 is exclusive to the Ford F-150 Raptor, which is a truck utilized more for off-roading adventures rather than a long day on the job site towing heavy materials around.

Much like the vehicle’s engine, the interior of the F-150 can be customized to your liking. It comes outfitted with cloth seating appointments, however, drivers have the option of swapping it out for vinyl seating. Vinyl seating is a great material for drivers who expect their truck to get dirty, as vinyl is much easier to clean than cloth. The higher trims offer premium cloth seating, as well as leather trim and unique multi-contour leather with the driver seat memory system, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, and even heated and ventilated seats.

Interior Features & TechnologyThe 2019 Ford F-150 offers plenty of options with the included and available features and technology systems. The Ford F-150 includes an AM/FM radio at its base level, but drivers can easily include more amenities to tailor their truck’s loadout. The optional SYNC® system is a dashboard-mounted display that lets drivers select their rides entertainment. This system incorporates Enhanced Voice Recognition, which allows drivers to use their voice to select their preferred media rather than taking their hands off of the wheel and their eyes off of the road.

Drivers can even upgrade to the SYNC® 3 system. This system includes an 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen that includes more customizable options. This system even makes the Bluetooth®-paired smartphone’s apps, libraries, and contacts accessible through the touchscreen and voice recognition. These features come standard on the higher trims.

The higher trims include a 6-month trial subscription to SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, which includes more than 150 different channels of varying audio entertainment. The trucks also include a USB port and auxiliary input for portable media devices to be plugged into the stereo. The Bluetooth® system allows for audio streaming directly from the paired smartphone.

All Ford F-150 models equipped with the SYNC® 3 system include additional features like FordPass™ Connect. This system includes a downloadable app for smartphones which provides access to the vehicle through remote locking/unlocking, starting, and even locating. This app will also provide updates on the vehicle’s on-board diagnostics system to help with identifying an issue and scheduling service, as well as locating gas stations nearby during your trips. This system also includes the Wi-Fi® Hotspot, which keeps your phone connected at all times, allowing you to access your apps and internet services.

Drivers also have the option of choosing the Voice-Activated Navigation with SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link®. This system will guide you to your destination through a series of turn-by-turn directions while displaying your GPS location on a map via the touchscreen. Additionally, the SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link® will inform you of any congestion on the road ahead, so you can plan an alternate route and avoid as much traffic as possible.

Safety FeaturesThe F-150 comes equipped with several active safety features that work with the Anti-Lock Braking System. The AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ is a system that incorporates stability and traction controls. When the vehicle experiences wheel slip or a loss of traction, this system will activate to apply selective braking to the affected wheels while reducing engine power to help the vehicle and the wheels regain traction and stability. The Roll Stability Control™ component kicks on when wheel lift is detected and provides selective braking to reduce the wheels from further lifting off the ground. The Curve Control system provides light braking when the Ford F-150 is facing tight corners at top speeds.

The Buyer’s Guide to the 2019 Ford F-150

As for the passenger and collision protection, the F-150 is equipped with driver and passenger frontal airbags and seat-mounted side airbags. The vehicle also includes the Safety Canopy® side curtain airbags to provide protection to all the passengers in the event of a side impact. The SOS Post-Crash Alert System activates after a crash by unlocking all the doors, turning on the interior lights, and activating the hazard lights so emergency responders can see the scene of the accident while on the road.

In terms of safety technology, the 2019 F-150 has a few features to provide assistance. All trims come standard with the Rear View Camera to provide a view of the vehicle’s rear perspective when backing up. The higher trims include Dynamic Hitch Assist with this feature, which gives a better view when attaching a trailer to the truck’s tow hitch. The BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert is optional but standard on the Platinum and Limited trims. This feature uses sensors on the outside of the vehicle to detect any possible vehicle approaching the blind spot while initiating a turn or a lane change.

Towing & Payload CapacitiesConsidering the amazing array of power offered by the different engine options, the Ford F-150 is capable of some remarkable feats when it’s put to work. Of course, considering the different outputs provided by the engine selection, the truck’s overall abilities vary, so if you’re looking to put this truck to work, you’ll want to carefully consider which engine you want based on the type of work you’re going to accomplish with the truck. The necessary ingredient for towing is torque, so naturally the higher the torque output/the higher the towing capacity.

Another factor to consider when selecting your engine is payload. If you plan on carting significant materials in your cargo bed, you’ll want to be sure that the truck’s abilities can handle it. While the payload abilities vary with the engine selection, it may take a drop with higher towing capacities, so you may want to carefully review your options before choosing the engine for your truck.
