    Circles of HOPE

    Cutting Poverty in Halfby 2020

The poverty figures just released showed anincrease in poverty in America. What can wedo to affect this terrible situation. CatholicCharities of Central and Northern Arizona hasdesigned a process for individuals and familiesto move themselves out of poverty. You canparticipate in segments of this process.Imagine being able to assist and supportsomeone as they move out of poverty.

Join Tricia Hoyt, director of the Office ofParish and Community Engagement atCatholic Charities as she shares herenthusiasm for this great project.

LOVE IN ACTION BRINGING HOPE TO THE POOR

Each year the Friars and staff at the Casa

Franciscana Mission endeavor to enroll as many

children as possible from the poorest barrios of

Guaymas into the school system. Rocio Perez of the

Mission Staff tells us that "the

families we serve are so beautifuland we at the Mission do all we

can to address their needs." She

adds that " It is impossible to

escape poverty here withouthaving the tools

required to obtain a good job. Ultimately, educating

the children is what will change their lives."

Join us on November 13/14, when Br. Ivo and Fr. Bill

Minkel will be at the Casa with the Mariachi

Guadalupano to entertain us after each

    Mass. Casa Franciscana Outreach (CFO)

volunteers will be available to answer your questions

about the Mission Programs. This is an opportunity for each of us to share a little

of God's abundance by supporting the Mission's

goal to give every poor child, living in the barrios of

Guaymas, hope for a better future.

CFO is seeking volunteers to assist at donation

tables in the courtyard after Mass. We also need

volunteer hosts to house two or more of the Mariachi

performers for the week-end. If you are interested in

Upcoming Events at the Casa 52010 Doggy Mascot Andy

Andy was adopted from the Humane Society after being rescued off the streets of the Valley in the Julyheat. He had spent 10 days in the doggy hospital with infections and injuries, and when his mom Janefound him, he was shaved, scabbed and scarred. The vet told mom that he needed you and you neededhim and she says that is true every day. Now Andy is a beautiful, confident dog. Hes an adult poodle

mix of indeterminate age and ancestry. He loves everyone, even cats! Strangers stop mom and Andy allthe time to say how beautiful he is and mom always has the same responseHe has a sweet sweet spir-it!

    2010 Kitty Mascot Pete

Pete, Petey, Dude, Little Booger...people will call me anything!? I am a 17 year old Himala-yan Siamese cat. I was adopted when I was three months old in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Mydad moved us to Arizona in 2000. I got to go on a three day car ride! We even got to stayin different motels along the way! Oh how I love car rides and motel rooms! What an ad-venture! Being an old man kitty isnt easy. These days I have to take my meds twice a daybut I still get to cuddle on my Dads lap, so its all worth it! Thanks Dad!

2010 Birdie Mascot Mister MishaMister Misha is an 8 year old Cockatiel. He likes to talk, mostly phrases that include Such a PrettyBird, Mister Misha,(he sounds quite self aware so far,)What You Been Doing? He then cancombine those words into different, sometimes sensible sentences! He loves classical, jazz, blues, and even a little rap (introduced by the grandkids,) but country induces screams and furious wingflaps. He does a fast dance upon hearing treat, and enjoys looking at his pretty self in the mirror.Mister Misha will be hanging out at the Apache Crafts booth for the festival so be sure to stop by andtell him hes Such a Pretty Bird!

Bring your pets to get blessed with these celebrities at this years festival,October 30th and 31st!Blessings are each day at Noon and 2pm!And be sure to adopt them a new friend!

Once again we welcome the Poor Claresfrom Texcoco, Mexico to our community.TheseFranciscanwomengivetheirlivestoprayertosupportallofusinourworkanddailylives.St.FrancispromisedSt.Clarethathisfriarswouldalwayscareforthesistersthroughouttheagesandthefriarsarehappytobeofassistancetothem.Ifyou'dliketopurchasesomehome-madetamales,thesisterswillbetakingorderstheweekendofNovember6and7,thenwilldeliverthepreparedtamalestheweekendofNovember13and14.Ifyoucanmakeadonationtothesisterstohelpthem,theydonotreceivesalariesandsodependonthegenerosityoftheirdonors.Inreturn,theyalwaysprayforthegoodoftheirdonors,callingdowntheblessingofGoduponthosewhocareforthem.GodhasblessedhischurchthroughthelegacyofSts.FrancisandClare,sonowwethankthesistersfortheirpartincontinuingtheFranciscanmessage.

The Church of Our Lady of Angels 7

Healing Mass Nov. 13, Saturday, 11am Feb. 12, Saturday, 11am

All are welcome! The Healing Mass is open to all who hope in the physical, mental, emotional, and

spiritual healing our God offers to us. Join us as we pray for each other and with each other, and see the

many ways God can heal each one of us. At a Healing Mass, we simply bring our needs and infirmities to

    the Lord through the Eucharist.

"Lord, I am not worthy to receive you but only say the word and I shall be healed."

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will also be available following the mass.

"Is anyone sick among you? He should call for the priests of the Church and have them prayOver him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord and the prayer of faith will save the

sick person and will raise him up." (James 5:15)

    Who needs God's Healing?

Someone who is sick or someone who has been physically injured someone in a difficult relationship

or going through a divorce someone who is grieving the loss of a loved one someone who is

fighting an addiction someone who is depressed someone struggling with anger or anxiety

someone who is finding life too difficult someone feeling abandoned someone who has lost their

faith. The truth is that all of us at some point in our lives need the healing power of God.

Bring your faith (and your doubt) and come and join one another in prayer.

Circles Of HopeImagine being able to assist an individual or family to move out of poverty

Orientation on Circles of HOPE on November 7th, Sunday, after the 7:30 am and 9:15am masses in Serra.

Tracy entered a Circle of HOPE this past summer, after completing 4 weeks of financial educationand 15 weeks of Getting Ahead sessions. She entered the Circle of HOPE with a plan, - a list of

concrete steps she knew she needed to take in order to transition from a life of uncertainty to one

of stability and dignity. She was a little nervous about her new Circle. Would they welcome her and

treat her as a valued person? Could it really be that they would offer to support her in her quest for

a less stressful and vulnerable life where there was never quite enough to make it through the day?

Tracy neednt have worried. Her new Circle partners welcomed her with open arms. I feel like I

have gained 8 new aunts and uncles! she exclaimed, at a recent gathering. Her Circle members

helped her to navigate enrollment in her first Community College course, assisted her in finding

someone to fix her ailing computer, and offer her ongoing encouragement and support in a

    multitude of ways.

You too can offer this kind of HOPE to somebody. Circles of Support is the third in a three-phase

Catholic Charities initiative to help families who live in poverty to find permanent, lasting solutions

that will enable them to live the life they deserve without the anxiety and stress of inadequate

resources. It involves a small group of 6-8 volunteer members who form themselves as a team to

help the family member(s) over a 18-24 month period to gain access to the resources they need for

a life of dignity. The Circles team meets monthly with the circle participant and/or individually or in

    pairs as needed.

Tricia Hoyt, director of the Office of Parish and Community Engagement at Catholic Charities will

offer an Orientation on Circles of HOPE on November 7th, Sunday, after the 7:30am and 9:15 am

masses for those interested in learning about this project and how to become part of this type ofcommunity of solidarity. The session will be held in Serra in Piper Hall.
