From the 36” Cat Panel - Multi/White (A), fussy cut:• (1) 35” x 43” panel.

From the Modern Melody Basics - Crimson Red (B), cut:• (3) 2” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut (2) 2” x 53 ½” strips.• (3) 2” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut (2) 2” x 48 ½” strips.• (2) 2 ½” x 43” WOF strips, piece as needed.• (2) 2 ½” x 39” WOF strips.• (6) 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding.

From the Large Cat Stripe - Multi/White (C), cut:• (2) 4 ½” x 57” Length of Fabric (LOF) strips.• (2) 4 ½” x 49” LOF strips. From the Paw Print - Black (D), cut:• (4) 4 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut strip into (28) 4 ½” squares.

From the Fish Bones - White (E), cut:• (4) 4 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut strip into (28) 4 ½” squares.

From the Modern Melody Basics - Black (F), cut:• (4) 2 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut strip into (54) 2 ½” squares.

From the Modern Melody Basics - Pigment White (G), cut:• (4) 2 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut strip into (54) 2 ½” squares.

From the Mini Tossed Cats - Red (Backing), cut:• (2) 64” x WOF strips for the backing. Sew the strips together and trim to make the 64” x 72” back.

Sewing Instructions1. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 43” Fabric B strip to each side of the 35” x 43” Fabric A panel. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 39” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A panel. Trim the block to measure 37 ½” x 45 ½” to make the Center Block (Fig. 1).

2. Place (1) 2 ½” Fabric F square on the bottom left corner of (1) 4 ½” Fabric E square, right sides together (Fig. 2). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 2). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 3). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam.

3. Place (1) 2 ½” Fabric F square on the bottom right corner of the Fabric E square, right sides together. Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 4). Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam to make (1) Unit 1 block.

4. Repeat Steps 2-3 to make (26) Unit 1 blocks total (Fig. 5).

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling.)7. Center (1) 4 ½” x 57” Fabric C strip on (1) side of the Center Block and pin in place. Start sewing the strip a ¼” from the top edge of the block and stop a ¼” from the bottom edge. DO NOT TRIM THE EXCESS. Repeat with the opposite side.

8. Repeat Step 7 to sew (1) 4 ½” x 49” strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block, making sure to stop and start ¼” away from each end of the block. To miter each corner, fold the block on a diagonal, wrong side together. This should line up the strips from adjacent sides (Fig. 9).

5. Place (1) 2 ½” Fabric F square on the bottom left corner of (1) 4 ½” Fabric E square, right sides together. Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner. Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam to make (1) Unit 3 block (Fig. 7). Repeat to make a second Unit 3 block.

6. Place (1) 2 ½” Fabric G square on the bottom right corner of (1) 4 ½” Fabric D square, right sides together. Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner. Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam to make (1) Unit 4 block (Fig. 8). Repeat to make a second Unit 4 block.

4. Repeat Steps 2-3 using (26) 4 ½” Fabric D squares and (52) 2 ½” Fabric G squares and Figure 6 for fabric location and seam direction to make (26) Unit 2 blocks.

9. Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the arrow in Figure 9), draw a 45-degree line to the edge of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a ¼” seam. Repeat this step with the remaining corners.

10. Sew (1) 2” x 53 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 2” x 48 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

11. Sew (7) Unit 1 blocks and (7) Unit 2 blocks together, alternating them. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew (1) strip to each side of the Center Block. Pay attention to the orientation of the blocks and the strips.

12. Sew (6) Unit 1 blocks and (6) Unit 2 blocks together, alternating them. Sew (1) Unit 4 to the left end of the new strip. Sew (1) Unit 3 block to the right end of the new strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top. Pay attention to the orientation of the blocks and the strips.

13. Layer and quilt as desired.

14. Sew the (6) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric B strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

15. Bind as desired.
