Collect V. The Lord be with you. R. And with thy spirit.

Let us pray. O Lord, who never failest to help and govern them whom thou dost bring up in thy steadfast fear and love: keep us, we beseech thee, under the protection of thy good providence; and make us to have a perpetual fear and love of thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Introit Factus est Dominus Psalm 18:19b, 20, 1 The Lord was my refuge and my upholder; and he brought me forth into a place of liberty:

he delivered me, because he delighted in me. (Ps.) I will love thee, O Lord, my strength: the Lord is my rock, my fortress and my Saviour.

(Bow) Glory be to the Father… (Rise) As it was in the beginning… The Lord was my refuge…

The Lesson: Jeremiah 20:10-13 Jeremiah said: I hear many whispering. Terror is on every side! “Denounce him! Let us denounce him!” say all my familiar friends, watching for my fall. “Perhaps he will be deceived, then we can overcome him, and take our revenge on him.” But the Lord is with me as a dread warrior; therefore my persecutors will stumble, they will not overcome me. They will be greatly shamed, for they will not succeed. Their eternal dishonor will never be forgotten. O Lord of hosts, who test the righteous, who see the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance upon them, for to you have I committed my cause. Sing to the Lord; praise the Lord! For he has delivered the life of the needy from the hand of evildoers. V. The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.

The Epistle: Romans 5:12-15 Brethren, as sin came into the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all men sinned – sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sins were not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come. But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift in the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. V. The Word of the Lord. R. Thanks be to God.

The Holy Gospel: St. Matthew 10:26-33 V. The Lord be with you. R. And with thy spirit.

V. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew. R. Glory be to thee, O Lord.

At that time, Jesus said to his apostles, “Have no fear of men; for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, utter in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim upon the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two spar-rows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s will. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So every one who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” V. The Gospel of the Lord. R. Praise be to thee, O Christ.

The Psalm: Psalm 69 [Salvum me fac] Chant, Matthew Camidge (1758-1844)

And why? for thy sake have I |suffered re-|proof; |--| shame hath |covered my | face. I am become a stranger| unto my | brethren, even an alien |unto my |mother's | children.

For the zeal of thine house hath even | eat-en |me; and the rebukes of them that rebuked thee are |fall -|en up-|on me. But, LORD, I make my |prayer unto |thee |--| in an ac-|cepta-ble |time.

Hear me, O God, in the multitude |of thy | mercy, even in the |truth of |thy sal-|vation. Hear me, O LORD, for thy loving-|kindness is |comfortable; turn thee unto me according |to the |multitude of thy |mercies.

The humble shall consider |this, and be |glad: seek ye after God, and your |soul |shall |live. For the LORD |heareth the | poor, and de-|spis-eth| not his |prisoners.

2nd half of chant

Let heaven and |earth |praise him: the sea, and |all that |moveth there-|in.

Gospel Acclamation Domine, Deus meus Psalm 7:1 Alleluia. Alleluia.

O Lord my God, in thee have I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me.

Alleluia.

The congregation stands as the Priest rises.

Communion Antiphon Cantabo Domino Psalm 13:6 I will sing of the Lord, because he hath dealt so lovingly with me:

yea, I will praise the Name of the Lord Most Highest.

Communion Anthem: Geistliches lied, Op. 30 Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) Laß dich nur nichts nicht dauren mit Trauren,

sei stille; Wie Gott es fügt so sei vergnügt, mein Wille! Was willst du heute sorgen auf morgen?

Der Eine Steht allem für, der gibt auch dir das Deine. Sei nur in allem Handel ohn’ Wandel, steh’ feste,

Was Gott beschleußt, das ist und heißt das Beste. Amen.

Do not be sorrowful or regretful; Be calm, as God has ordained, and thus my will shall be content.

What do you want to worry about from day to day? There is One who stands above all who gives you, too, what is yours.

Only be steadfast in all you do, stand firm; what God has decided, that is and must be the best. Amen.

Offertory Antiphon Domine, convertere Psalm 6:4

Turn thee, O Lord, and deliver my soul: O save me for thy mercy’s sake.

Offertory Anthem: “Thou Wilt Keep Him in Perfect Peace” Samuel Sebastian Wesley (1810-1876) Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.

The darkness is no darkness with Thee, but the night is as clear as the day. The darkness and the light to Thee are both alike. God is light and with Him is no darkness at all.

O let my soul live and it shall praise Thee. For Thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, for evermore.

An Act of Spiritual Communion for those who cannot now receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament

My Jesus, I believe that thou art truly present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love thee above all things, and I desire to receive thee into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive thee sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace thee as if thou wert already there and unite myself wholly to thee. Never permit me to be separated from thee. Amen.
