Liturgical Ministers
Dear Friends in Christ,
Since we do not publish a bulletin specifically for Christmas, I want to take this opportunity to wish all of
you a very Merry Christmas! I pray that you will all find joy in the celebration of the birth of the Savior,
who alone can bring light into the darkness of our minds, hearts, and our world. He, the long-awaited of all
the patriarchs and prophets, is the one whose birth, suffering, and death was foretold for centuries. He is
the one whose resurrection shattered the heavy bonds of sin and death forever. Despite his awesome power and
majesty, he came to us in the most humble of forms. Appearing as a child in the manger, he has spoken to us in a
language we can hear and a presence we can receive. He came to us as a child to win our hearts from the beginning, that
the way of the cross and discipleship would never overwhelm us completely.
I especially greet all those who may receive this in care centers, hospitals, and at home due to illness or the burden of
age. Please know your parish family remembers you, and if it has been a while since you have received a visit or heard
from us, give me a call or have a family member check in to make sure you're on our list to visit and receive the
sacraments. May you find new strength and the youthfulness that belongs to believers of all ages. With Christ our
spiritual life is always new, always young. As he himself has said, "Behold, I make all things new."
Thank you all for remembering your parish in this season of gift-giving and charitable donation. We will continue to offer
divine worship, faith formation programming, opportunities to help and serve the poor, ways to gather as a community,
chances to grow in ministry, and a safe and clean environment in which to do so. It is a fine tradition to give a Christmas
offering to the Church in honor of the Lord's birth and in thanksgiving for blessings received from God in the preceding
year.
With gratitude to celebrate Christmas with you all again, I wish you all a spirit of joy and
peace.
Sincerely in Christ,

The Mystery of GOD
The North Linn Catholic Cluster Faith Formation folks are offering a great way to start 2020! -Discover Who GOD is and why He matters!
-Bishop Robert Barron reaches into our rich intellectual tradition, using the insights of St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Pope Benedict XVI, to uncover a clear yet sophisticated understanding of what we mean by “God.”
-The goal of this study is to equip you to better understand not only the arguments of atheists, but also the loving, triune God of the Catholic faith, and to share him with others in our skeptical world.
-Learn about the Paths to God and the Divine Attributes. Explore the Trinity Learn What We Really Mean by “God” and understand the God who is Love!
Interested? Then this opportunity is for you! Beginning on Sunday January 19, 2020 a six session study will be offered.
When: Six sessions after Sunday Mass at St. Stephen in the Church Hall: Jan 19, Feb 2, Feb 9, Feb 16, Mar 1, and Mar 8 (we will also block out Mar 15 in case we need a snow day).
