Brock Supply breaks ground on Terrell facilityState and city government
offi cials and business leaders from various Terrell entities were on hand April 27 to break ground on the site of a future Brock Supply Company ware-house in the Metrocrest busi-ness park on the west side of town.
Jerry Brock, the company's founder was very happy to be expanding his company at a time when many firms are looking for ways to cut back.
"We feel fortunate to be
doing well enough to expand at this time, we are pretty op-timistic about it," Brock said. "The automotive salvage in-dustry cannot find enough parts to supply all of their cus-tomers, which provides the need for our products."
Brock Supply, which is based in Tempe, Ariz. pro-duces replacement automotive parts for sale through parts re-sellers and automotive recy-clers nationwide and in some foreign countries. Locating
a warehouse in Terrell gives Brock a centralized distribu-tion point for their operations.
"We worked with UPS, and the demographics tell us that we should be here, or Kansas … somewhere here in the mid-dle," Brock said. "I ended up in touch with Danny Booth at the Terrell CVB who dragged me down here and we just went from there."
Speakers at the ceremony included Booth, Terrell mayor Hal Richards, Mr. Brock and
outgoing state representative Betty Brown, who focused on the additional employment that Brock Supply will bring.
"While 20 employees may not seem like a lot, it really is when you think about up to 20 families being supported, and 20 more people who don't face a long commute to the west ev-ery day," she said.
Brock is celebrating 50 years in operation, giving him a long-term perspective on business and handling the
economic ups and downs."Some of our customers are
having a hard time, but that may not be the economy," he said. "There are a lot of them that are saying business is good. The theory is that peo-ple are fi xing up and keeping older cars, and that seems to be working for us."
More information about Brock Supply Compa ny's history and products can be found at their website, www.brocksupply.com.

Terrell ISD students Casey Rogers will forever be know as the 11-year-old who won the honors of pushing the button to implode Texas Stadium. However, Rogers, who won the rights through an essay contest sponsored by Kraft, is making sure his newfound publicity is used to continue helping him fulfi ll his mission to help the homeless.
Once a foster child, Casey established his Casey’s Heart ministry with the help of his fa-ther, a pastor.
Recently, communi-ty members gathered at Long Elementary School, where he is a student, to honor him. The price of admission? Socks and underwear.
Casey also is selling his Casey’s Heart T-shirts and was on hand to sign them at the Heritage Ju-bilee.
Thanks, Casey, You are making a difference.

Celebrating more than 30 years!
Walt’s Automotive celebrates 40 years in Terrell location
Wa lt’s Automot ive celebrated their 40-year anniversary in Terrell in March.
“We’ve just been real steady,” he said. “We try to give people what they want and what they need, said Mike Dickerson, Walt’s son.
While the cars parking in front of the store have changed a lot, the feel inside the store is timeless.
“There aren’t many of us indepen-dents left,” Dickerson said.”We’re not going anywhere though… we’ll try for 40 more years.”
According to Mike, the store offers services and products that separate it
from bigger chain stores.“It’s all about diversification,” he
said. “We have full machine shop ser-vices and we can make custom hydrau-lic hoses, things other places can’t offer. We do stuff that other stores don’t pay their people enough to keep up.”
Dickerson was quick to credit the staff with making the store a place cus-tomers would want to return.
“We try to do things on a personal level,” he said. “We have quality per-sonnel, and a lot of really good return clients. It’s the old fashioned way … it’s just the way we do things around here.”
