RESUMES Sunday, October 11, 2015
Each of the four gospel accounts of Jesus’ life highlight a marvelous quality of our Lord.
Mark reveals Jesus as The Servant. Mark demonstrates through his record of Jesus’ life and
ministry that Jesus was the Greatest Man ever to live because He was the Servant of every
man. God has gifted and positioned First Baptist Church to have significant kingdom impact
through acts of selfless service toward one another and in our community. Prepare your heart and
hands to follow this Servant as His servants in the world!
Hebrews
10:24
ANTICIPATION
EXPECTED
There is great excitement in the air from
the conversations I have had about the
changing of the season from summer to
fall. The eagerness to enjoy the change
of temperatures and the change of colors
is displayed by almost everyone in the Wiregrass, even if it
means allergy battles.
October holds that air of excitement for the student ministry.
The students are bringing with them an emphasis to pray for
their generation to turn to Christ and trust Him for salvation,
their community and leaders to follow God’s commands, and
for the church to have impact for the glory of God. They
invited their friends to join them for worship of God and the
teaching of His Gospel that evening at the football stadium.
They are witnessing students surrendering to God’s call to
salvation through Christ and to obedience through baptism.
This Sunday, October 4, the students will gather to kickoff fall
with a fellowship called Immersion. Immersion has become a
much anticipated event of connecting with students and
participating in messy games. When can you play with
condiments, make a mess, and gather the applause and
participation of parents? Only at Immersion! It is here that they
get to bond not only through Bible study and a meal, but
through laughter and friendly competition.
Also, the student discipleship on Sunday nights will continue
its biblical leadership classes with LEAD 360. Students are
learning leadership from the greatest leader to ever walk this
earth, Jesus Christ, and His Father. The teaching comes from
Scripture and incorporates small group discussions and large
group team building activities. It is here that students get the
opportunity to be involved in planning, serving, and leading in
ministry. Some students will lead and some will follow, serve,
and learn to lead. The vision is that students can have an
impact even at a young age. All students are invited to attend.
As I look into the future, it does look dark and foreboding.
Then, I see students speak in a public forum for Christ’s glory
and pray for God to show Himself. Then, I am reminded by
God that He is still sovereign and has not left His throne of
ruling this earth. Yes, there is corruption and brokenness in
this world, but He can make those who are saved by Christ and
live by the His Spirit to be overcomers and conquerors.
Students are testifying to their faith in the truth of Scripture
that God is the Creator and Ruler of this earth and to His
personal work in their lives.
In closing, it is our vision that students be the light of Christ.
Please encourage them to be in the Bible Studies, to attend
Worship, and to participate in Student Ministry events at First
Baptist Church. Together we can grow in Christ and make Him
known.
In Christ,
Joel Tucker

LEAD 360 is leadership development that begins with
Christ as He transforms the individual spiritually,
emotionally, and mentally. It is a way for students to
receive leadership training and development with biblical
principles and a biblical worldview. It offers students
opportunities for hands on leadership through the plan-
ning and executing of ministry events within the area of
student ministry.

Field Trip
Tuesday, October 13!
Join us for a trip to Todd Syrup Farm in Headland for a
great time of food, fellowship and nostalgia. We will meet
at the church parking lot at 9:30AM and head over together
(you may meet us there if you prefer). We will take a guid-
ed tour of the museum ($2 each) and experience the process
of making cane syrup. We will order from the menu when
we arrive and then eat at 11 AM. (Dutch treat!) We wel-
come this new business into our community and celebrate
with our friends, the Todd family. We will see you there!
Has the age of Methuselah - 969 years - ever caused you to scratch your head in wonderment? Have you ev-er wondered. . .
Where dinosaurs came from and where they went? How the Grand Canyon was made?
How and why glaciers were formed? And after all where did all those fossils come from?
The Bible says that God created the world in six days. Modern science says that it took billions of years for cre-ation as we know it to evolve. What’s a Christian to be-lieve? Are you confused by what your Bible says and what you were taught in science class or see on TV? Come join us for a faith building study as we explore things the Bible explains that modern science can not. This will be a great companion study for those of you who are in Genesis in Sunday School.

The Cemetery Fund Needs Your Help
H istorically our FBC Cemetery
has been maintained by
donations not included in our
operating budget. Recently available
funding has been on the decline while the
cost of maintaining the cemetery has not.
The Cemetery Committee has managed
the funds well but there is a now a need
for more funds to continue the upkeep at
its current level. The Cemetery Committee and Stewardship
Committee request your support of the Cemetery Fund.
Please consider helping with your financial gifts. Simply
mark your gift “Cemetery Fund” and include as a separate
check. As always we ask that any gifts be given above and
beyond your tithe to the General Fund.
