Dear Parishioners and Friends, In preparation for the upcoming election on Tuesday, November 4, please review this excerpt from the Archdiocesan Political Process Guidelines:

“Catholics are called to participate in promoting the common good and, as far as possible, to take an active part in public life. To fulfill this calling, Catholics must be informed, active, and responsible participants in the political process.

They must be knowledgeable about the political process and have a grasp of the moral dimensions of issues facing society. To do so, they need to under-stand the role of government in society, to be aware of their political rights as citizens, and to know how to influence public policy so that they may work within the political structure to effect change.

They need to know about current social issues, to understand the Church’s teachings about their moral dimensions, to form their consciences in light of their faith, and to act out of their moral convic-tions.”

To learn more, visit archst.org/faithful-citizenship.

Make yourself aware of the candidates and issues before us on November 4, and make it a priority to vote.

God bless, Msgr. John Borcic

Pro-Life Election Eve Mass

You are invited to join in an evening of prayer FOR THE GREAT NEEDS OF OUR TIME—RESPECT for all human life, support for traditional marriage and for religious freedom-on the eve of the election, November 3, 2014, at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, Nottingham at Tamm. Bishop Robert J. Herman will be the Principal Celebrant and speaker at the 7:30 pm Mass. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

A Special Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be at the Mass. It has been blessed and touched to the original tilma at the Shrine in Mexico City, and also received a Papal Blessing from Pope II in Rome. You are invited to touch the image before or after Mass.

Sponsored by the Legion of Mary, Respect Life Apostolate. Any questions call Rose, at 314.9296.

Mass of Remembrance

The annual Mass of Remem-brance will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 5, at

7:00 pm. This Mass commemorates the repose of the souls of all parishioners, family members of parish-ioners, and friends of St. Mary Magdalen, who passed away during the past year. All parishioners are invited to attend and join in prayer with and for those whom we honor. A reception will take place in the school hall immediately after Mass.

Stewardship Reflection “Those who trust in him will understand truth, and the faithful will abide with him in love, because grace and mercy are upon his elect, and he watches over his holy ones.” - Wisdom of Solomon 3:9 Here’s the ironic thing about people who are gener-ous. Those that give freely and cheerfully don’t do it to be rewarded. They do it to show their love for God and their neighbors. Yet, because of their generosity, they typically are given more than they gave away!

St. Mary Magdalen Parish St. Vincent DePaul Society

Everyone attending Mass during November has an exciting opportunity to further support the work of the SVDP. Thanks to a challenge grant from the First Catholic Ladies Slovak Association, you have the opportunity to double the impact of your support—which means your $10 check payable to the St. Vincent DePaul Society can become a twenty dollar investment in our St. Vincent DePaul Society. The FCSLA will match the first $600 in offertory receipt checks payable to the St. Vincent DePaul Society during November.

Thank you, in advance, for your generosity!

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

In verdant pastures he gives me repose; Beside restful waters he leads me;

he refreshes my soul - Psalm 23:1-3a

FATIMA EUCHARISTIC VIGIL Friday, November 7

Cur of Ars Church, 670 Laclede Station Rd.

When Our Lady appeared at Fatima she requested that we pray the rosary every day, make sacrifices for sinners and offer prayers of Eucharistic Adora-tion. In this troubled world our response to her re-quest is more urgent now that ever. On the first Friday of each month the World Apostolate of Fatima sponsors a Eucharistic Vigil at Cure of Ars Church, 670 Laclede Station Rd. The Mass is offered at 8 p.m. and again at 12 midnight, confessions are heard, there is a Eucharistic procession and various prayers are said throughout the night. Vigil ends after midnight mass. Make time each month to join in the vigil. This way you will respond to Our Lady's request to pray for the conversion of sinners. For more information call 314-562-5927.

NOTE: We will be praying for the crisis in Ferguson. St. John the Baptist
