The Corona Game- Shelly Zantkeren

A game for sharing emoons, mental flexibility, familiarizing ourselves with good, ourstrengths and broadening family discourse in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

The coronavirus has hit the globe hard, spreading not only feelings of fear, anxiety, anger and loneliness, but also more pleasant feelings of gratude and compassion for ourselves and others.

This game was designed to help us learn more about the emoons we’re all feeling, examine the fortes that help us cope, and can also teach us how to find the good, show gratude and acknowledge our inner strength- especially in these challenging mes.

Just like corona, the game is ever developing. To keep it both challenging and interesng, each week I’ll release new cards and even change the rules a bit, so you can enjoy a variety of opons.

The game is offered free of charge, simply out of love. I would be grateful if you passed it on to your contacts, friends and family (especially children), so that together we can get through these mes with more giving, compassion, collaboraon and enjoyment.

The Game: “Looking Out for Grandma and Grandpa”

In regular mes, our grandparents are always there to keep us safe, prepare things and make sure we’re having fun. But since the coronavirus outbreak, reality has turned upside down. It’s now our turn to look out for our grandparents by making sure we keep a safe distance, as the coronavirus can be especially dangerous when contracted by the elderly.

The goal of this game is to collect as many corona emoons, without nearing grandma and grandpa. The player who succeeds to stay their distance and collects the highest number of cards will be declared the winner.

Designed with love for children and adults of all ages

Number of players: 2-5

Game includes:

36 corona emoon cards- 9 emoons in 4 different colors

10 grandma and grandpa cards

3 corona cards with masks - this card can protect us only once from infecon

Geng started:

- Print the cards on hard or plain paper. If you can, I recommend covering the cards with plasc sheeng.

- Scaer the cards in the middle, facing down.

- The player whose name begins with the leer most close to “G” (grandma and grandpa) goes first.

- The winner: the player to best protect grandma and grandpa while succeeding tocollect the highest number of emoon cards.

Instrucons:

- Place cards in the center of the table. The first player unveils cards (up to 10 per turn). If the player exposes one or more series (for example: one emoon in mulple colors or 2-4 different cards in the same series) without exposing a grandma or grandpa card they can then keep all the emoon cards.

- Each player is allowed to choose the number of cards in his series (minimum 2 cards- maximum 4)and also the number of series they would like to collect per each turn. But remember- don’t take any unnecessary risks!

- If the player finishes their turn without infecng grandma or grandpa, they can keep the cards from the same series, before flipping over the remaining cards and connuing to the next player.

- If a player unveils a grandma or grandpa card- be careful not to infect them and don’t take any risks!! Lay down the remaining cards and connue to the next player.

- If the player unveils a corona card with a mask, they can use it as one-me protecon in an event you expose a grandma or grandpa card. Once used, the card is removed from the game.

- If a player begins with a grandma or grandpa card, without any other emoon card open, they may keep them close, under one condion: they have to send a picture of them together with the card to grandma and grandpa, or record a loving message. Each player can keep up to 2 grandma or grandpa cards.

- The game ends when only grandma or grandpa cards or a single card/single cards in a series are le on the table.

- The winner is the player holding the largest number of cards.

Make it more interesng:

Broaden the discourse and talk about which thoughts cause different emoons. Test thedifferent strengths of emoons that children are currently feeling and discuss how theythink that they can reduce the intensity of these emoons.

I hope you enjoy my game. Stay well!
