Graduation 2018The end of the seniors last year as
Father Judge students came as
expected...with pomp and circumstance,
fond farewells and celebrations. The
Graduation was held on June 7th, 2018
on the Father Judge track at 5:00pm. But
first, the Baccalaureate Mass was
celebrated on June 6th, 2018 in the
evening. Father Jack and many priests
from area parishes as well as family
members who are priest helped con-
celebrated mass. This was the last time
the seniors gathered together before
graduation day. Student Council
President Bill Kelly and Vice President
Mike Fehrle read at mass and other
Student Government members helped
as well.
The day after Baccalaureate Mass is
Graduation day, when all the seniors
take part in a ceremony that will move
them on to bigger and better things as a
Father Judge Alumni. The ceremony was
especially special this year as His
Holiness Archbishop Chaput was main
presider. Mr. Campellone was especially
very excited about this and he thinks
“This will make an already memorable
experience, even greater with the
Archbishop’s presence.” The ceremony
contained the presentation of awards,
scholarships and grants, and, most
importantly, the distribution of
diplomas. Finally, the Seniors processed
out as great Salesian Gentleman looking
to make a difference in the world.
Surely, the Father Judge community will
truly miss the class of 2018.
Congratulations Class of 2018!
Christopher Blank (left) wrote and delivered
the valedictory address, speaking of how the
past year has inspired the seniors' futures.
Salutatorian T.J. Beaudet (right) welcomed all
and gave thanks to all those who helped the
seniors reach this momentous day.

The Father Judge Model United
Nations (MUN) team aims at educating
members about current events,
international relations, and diplomatic
procedure by simulating the processes
of the actual United Nations. Members
compete with other regional, or
sometimes international, schools’ Model
UN teams, following legitimate UN
procedure and debating hot-button,
global topics as delegates representing
certain countries. When a member
participates as a delegation, he must
represent the nation’s policies
accurately through research and other
sources. If a delegate performs well
enough, he may earn an award. There
are several awards typically handed out
at a conference, ranging from the lowest
level (an honorable mention) to the
highest level (best delegate). Model
United Nations is essentially a game of
strategy, confidence, and knowledge
used to win a prize.
Under the leadership of moderator
Mr. Jeff Hylan, the top 12 members of
the Father Judge Model UN team spent
May 10th-May 12th in New York City to
participate in the Global Classrooms
International High School Model United
Nations Conference. The team stayed
and debated at The Grand Hyatt Hotel,
located next to the unrecognizable
Grand Central Station. The members
were broken up into several committees
to debate multiple topics in
representation of the African nation
Chad. Overall the team performed well,
especially for the fact that there were
many members debating on this scale
for the first time. Everyone was
enthusiastic and competitive about the
debate, with some delegations receiving
awards and positive feedback for their
performances. Two delegations received
Honorable Mention Awards: Aman
Zabian and Ryan Sachs (“GA-4 SPECPOL:
The Legality of Drones as Weapons of
War”) and Chris Fisher (“United Nations
Development Programme: Advancing
the Effectiveness of Traditional and
Renewable Resources”). However, those
who did not receive awards still
performed admirably and will use this
trip as valuable experience. Our team
went up against some of the best high
school Model UN members in the world
and faced several obstacles, as
expected. For example, the committee
chairs were very keen on involving
everyone in each committee to
participate in order to advance
participants’ skills more evenly.
However, this restricted some of the
more active delegates from Father
Judge and other schools, taking away
opportunities and morale. This is not an
excuse by any means, though, but an
example of the sophistication of such an
event.
Debating was not the only activity
that the members of the Model UN
engaged. Members were allowed to see
New York City. The team visited Times
Square, Bryant Park, Grand Central
Station and explored local stores and
restaurants.

The Model United
Nations Program
requires students to
demonstrate not only
their knowledge of
current events but also
diplomatic, debating,
and presentational
which had worked other planet that he
visited.
The movie begins where Thor:
Ragnarok had ended, on a spaceship
with Thor, Loki, and the Incredible
Hulk, and it looked as though Thor and
Loki were going to lose. The Infinity
Gauntlet did not have any Infinity
Stones inside of it, but Thanos received
the blue infinity stone located inside
the Tesseract, named the Space Stone.
Thanos sends Hulk to New York City to
the place where Doctor Strange,
portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch, is
located and where Hulk returns to his
normal state as Dr. Bruce Banner. He
uses Doctor Strange’s powers as a
“wizard,” to find Tony Stark and tells
him that Thanos is coming.
The film proceeds with surprising
plot twists and well defined
characters. With its superior special
effects, visuals, and compelling story,
Avengers: Infinity War promises to be
the top contender in this summer’s
movie releases.

Avengers: Infinity War...Was it worth the hype?
Spotlight on
STEM
For the final exam in the Mr. Fiocco’s
Elements of Engineering Class, students
had to build a working aqueduct that
would snake around mountains and
cross over a raveen. The class was
divided into two large teams. These
teams were then divided further into
three sub teams. One sub team was
responsible to get a servo motor to
power a standard hand pump. The
second team was responsible for
building the structure that would
support the motor and pump. The third
team was responsible for building the
aqueduct itself. The grade for this
project was based on three factors:
practicality; functionality; and expense
of the operation.
The end result? Both teams built
successfully working aqueducts. The
winning team pumped 670 grams of
water in 10 minutes. In addition for the
final grade, each member of each team
had to complete a research paper
comparing and contrasting ancient
Roman aqueducts with the current
water distribution system of the City of
Philadelphia.

Has Avengers: Infinity War lived up to
the hype and expectations?
Absolutely!
Avengers: Infinity War will be
remembered as one of, if not the best
movie that Marvel will ever produce in
the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU),
and the opening weekend attendance,
both domestically and globally, just go
to hammer the point home. It has
broken record in 17 countries/regions,
including the United States, Chile,
Mexico, South and West Africa just to
name a few. There were notable
names in the production such as
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris
Evans as Captain America, Chris
Hemsworth as Thor, and Scarlett
Johansson as Black Widow just to
name a few. It was 2 hours and 40 min
of pure entertainment and joy as the
Avengers, Earth’s mightiest heroes, and
the Guardians of the Galaxy, a group of
space adventurers who protect the
galaxies, look for the six infinity stones
that have been scattered across the
universe.
Our heroes eventually fight Thanos,
a ruthless monster that wants to
eliminate half the population because
he believes that the Universe is
overpopulated that the surviving
members need a better quality of life.
Thanos has appeared in several
movies in the MCU, including “The
Avengers” in 2012, “Guardian of the
Galaxy” in 2014, and “The Avengers:
Age of Ultron” and “Infinity War” in
2015 and 2018. Now he is the maniacal
villain who thinks that the way he
viewed the problem, which I
mentioned before, was a good plan
