The David Oistrakh Quartetfeatures four of today's mostoutstanding Russian musicians,all soloists in their own right,unitedintheirartistryandtheirpassion for the art of quartetplaying.In2012thefamilyofthelegendary 20th century violinisthonored the quartet with hisname.

The David Oistrakh Quartet frequently performs across Europe in France, Belgium,Switzerland, Sweden,Norway,Denmarkandat themost recognizedvenues inRussia,includingallofthecountry'sfamousphilharmonicshalls.TheyhavehadthehonortoplayatvariousrenownedfestivalsbothinEuropeandinGeorgiawheretheyhavecollaboratedwithsuchcelebratedartistsasElisoVirsaladze,EduardBrunnerandLianaIsakadze.

Following the recent successof their debut in Japanand the releaseof their firstCD,featuringtheworksofTchaikovskyandShostakovich,thenextseasontakestheQuartettoSouthAmericaandHongKong.

75 years after David Oistrakh’s triumph at the Queen Elisabeth International ViolinCompetition, the First Violinist of theQuartet, AndreyBaranov,won the first prize in2012.BaranovisalsolaureateofmorethanadozeninternationalcompetitionsincludingtheDavidOistrakh,BenjaminBritten,HenriMarteauandLianaIsakadzecompetitions.HisinternationalcareerhasledhimtoperformasasoloistwiththeLondonPhilharmonic,Sendai Philharmonic, St-Petersburg Philharmonic, Brussels Philharmonic, NationalOrchestra of Belgium, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, Luxembourg Philharmonic,MontrealSymphonyOrchestra,MariinskyTheatreOrchestra,MahlerChamberOrchestraandMusicAeternaOrchestra.

TheSecondViolinistoftheDavidOistrakhQuartet isRodionPetrov,agraduateoftheReinaSofiaMusicAcademyinMadridandtheMoscowStateConservatory.Rodionisaprize-winner of numerous competitions including Premio Rudolfo Lipizer and PremioPaganiniinItaly.HehasappearedasasoloistinRussia,EuropeandAsiaatsuchconcerthalls as Auditorio Nacional in Madrid and Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and is a regularparticipantatmanyoftheworld’sgreatestfestivals.

CellistAlexeyZhilinisconsideredoneoftheleadingcellistsofhisgenerationinRussia.Hehas won a number of international prizes and appears frequently as a soloist withchamberandsymphonyorchestrasinRussiaandabroad.HeisnowteachingattheSaint-PetersburgStateConservatorywherehehimselfstudiedwithAnatolyNikitin.

InthefirstfewyearsoftheQuartet'sexistence,Baranov,BeluginandZhilinhadthehonortoworkwithviolinistSergeyIvanovichPischugin,arenownedchambermusicianinRussia.A former studentofDavidOistrakh,professorof theMoscowStateConservatoryandmember of the legendary Shostakovich Quartet, Pischugin played a vital role in thefoundingoftheOistrakhQuartet.
