The Door of Mercy
The Door of Mercy is a special Holy Door which Pope Francis has asked to be opened in every
Diocese at the start of the Year of Mercy
In our school we will have our own Door of Mercy which will remind us that God is always there and waiting for us and that God’s mercy should be in
our hearts every day.
“A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold
and more just”- Pope Francis
Extraordinary Jubilee of MercyDec 8th 2015 – Nov 20th 2016
The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’- Matthew 25: 40
Earlier this year Pope Francis announced that we would have a Special Jubillee Year of Mercy,
beginning on December 8th, throughout this year we will think about how we can respond to this
wonderful invitation to show mercy to everyone around us
To guide us through this year we have been asked to look more closely at the Corporal Acts of Mercy
and to respond to them in prayer and in action

In our own Diocese Pope Francis is celebrating Mass at St Barnabas Cathedral
on the 8th December when the symbolic Door of Mercy will be opened, you can see
parts of the preparation for Mass on the link below
Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father,
and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him.Show us your face and we will be saved.
You are the visible face of the invisible Father, let the Church be your visible face of forgiveness and mercy in
the world. You willed that your ministers would feel compassion for those
in ignorance and error:let everyone who approaches them feel loved, and forgiven by
God, Amen
