PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Happy February Netzaberg community! As we continue down the journey of remote learn-ing, we appreciate your collaboration and partner-ship to keep our students engaged in learning. We love to see our families pulling together to make learning happen in these difficult times. We do want to kindly ask, that if your child is taking an assess-ment to allow them to answer it without assistance as the more authentic our data can be in a remote setting, the more we are able to create lessons to specifically meet the needs of our learners. We cherish and love your support in every other area! We will start having remote parent coffees where you can bring your coffee to a remote meeting and learn how to engage your child at home in their learning. We hope that you can join and take away some tips to utilize at home. More information with the dates will be sent in a separate correspondence. Just a reminder that our office hours during remote learning are from 0800-1500. You can always reach us by email or by phone! We look forward to having all students back in the school soon. Sincerely, NES Administration

Today’s topics

Reading and math instruction have come a long way. Check out our topics of conversation for our first virtual parent coffee.

Math: Number Talks

Does your child’s math instruction look different from when you were in school? Come learn more about mathematical flexi-bility, reasoning, and communication to help your child develop algebraic thinking in elementary school.

Enhance reading comprehension

Today’s reading lessons ask children for text-based evidence. These are skills you can practice at home. Chat with Ms. Simmons as she shares questioning techniques rooted in evidence that you can employ with chil-dren at any age!

The celebration of Black History Month began as “Negro Histo-ry Week,” which was created in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson, a noted African American historian, scholar, educator and publish-er. It became a month-long celebration in 1976. The month of February was chosen to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.
